I have run quite a few non ust tyres tubeless, just got to use one of the liquids and when you are inflating the tyre, ,make sure you have it seated correctly on the rim and pump like hell…
Hills, sounds like you are using too much rear brake??
I have just gone back to usiing panaracers and think they are really good…

i have checked all the reviews and they seem so misleading… meta 5 were meant to be the best thing since sliced bread, but this year have probably had a higher failure rate than any other bike… people go on about 130-160 travel, but seem to forget that 80% of the time you are climbing…

pay your staff more than the industry standard of £5 an hour, this way you will attract mature staff who are cool and know what they are talking about.

    cmon, who was it?…
and I would not take business else where just cos of that… if the bike shop were not busy, people would complain that they are stood around doing nothing, and that why do they have so many staff??? for a bike shop to be profitable, the staff have to be busy. There could also be a genuine reason, especially in this weather??? I would also mark them on the quality of their work, not just the admin and sales…
I also find when you get to know staff and shops and become a regular, the service improves

IMO these are the beez neez for the money…
They have a sale on at the mo, and the build quality is better than the on1…

superstar pads are ok, they dont have the quality of some others, but they are wqay cheaper, just keep an aye on them and make sure your brakes are set up well and both pads strike at the same time… if your pads are rubbing in the winter, they will only last a few rides.

Key and jond have got the right idea… for less then 5 miles each way you really dont have to bother about changing tyres and wheels, the extra cost of this is years worth of tyres… i commute this distance nd sometimes swap tyres, otherwise just ride my off road tyres and enjoy the extra grip and try and find off road sections… or just run cheaper tyres like some steel bead, you can get these for about a tenner…

The best thing is wool or merino wool socks as they let your feet breath… sounds silly, but the man made polyester socks make you sweat , and then the sweat freezes and you get cold. Overshoes are also a must for this time of year with spd shoes…

It really does only take 100 mins to change a bb… if the bearings are fine, then you should carry on using it and just pull the crank off and change it when needed…

    Hello Si,
Although I would love to agree that XTR and Pimped builds are the way to go… I think that the bulk of any bike builders and sellers will sell the standard specs much more, and this will be the bread and butter of any business.
As you have pointed out, you have built some bikes, but mostly small items. I think to appeal to more people, there has to be value builds available, especially with the quality shown in the deore, slx and XT levels of kit. To make the brand exotix, there can still be the pimped builds available, but for people on a budget, they will be happy with the quality frame and possibly wheels, with quite standard spec, especially if you bulk buy the groups and offer good value builds… This kit can then be upgraded and customisedwith time…

Just me ranting on of course!
