Ruptured my achilles in May last year, and was back on a bike by August, albeit nothing technical, just some tame XC, but after the months of inactivity, it was great!

Preparing the hard tail for a bit of road work when I can ride.

Have even considered, sorry for swearing… A road bike!

    Ruptured Achilles tendon.

    6 months out.

Would love to be out riding.

    Don’t have saw tooth rotors.

    Just looked odd, apologies.

Isn’t that rotor on back to front?

I am a machine, only ever injury was when I was 24, torn quad playing football, borrowed some crutches, didn’t even go to hospital.

Never had a broken bone, never needed to be an in patient, at 34 years of age I am made of strong stuff…. that was until about a month ago when I ruptured my achilles playing football.

I am officially getting old 🙁

With a 30 chain ring, I think you would get away with a 42, I can manage a 40 with a 34 ring up front.

Consider a one up rad cage as well. Improves shifting if you are going to be using an expander ring and prevents you needing a ridiculous b limit screw.

75km/h and single piston brakes, what could go wrong!

Never had anything as bad as that.

But during an STI check (nothing suspected or found I hasten to add). Was caught staring at a rather long cue tip. The lovely nurse said “don’t worry, but yes that’s going where you think it is”.

Having been married (and now divorcing) a nurse, I can tell you there isn’t anything sexy in the slightest about the profession!

I did the whole 1×10 thing a while back.

Fitted expander ring and one up rad cage.

Shifting is perfect, ratio is spot on, only ever found one hill I thought I could do with a granny.

I believe those machines have a milk pod as well as a coffee pod.

Personally would rather drink the previous guests shat but hey ho

Does it do it through all gears? Suspect it something chain line related, but hard to say.

“Police said they were acting over concerns by local residents about “persistent anti-social behaviour” from customers of the shop.”

So basically nothing to do with what they were selling, it could have been a Greggs that got shut down.

Ouch, when something like a PCS9 is available for less than that, it’s not within budget. I am thinking less than £50

So let drugs be readily available as that’ll mean there won’t be a drain on resources?

If you let them be available legally you could tax them, and in a similar vain to Alcohol and Tobacco the funds from taxation can contribute to more resources. Currently that doesn’t happen (unless you count tax on fertiliser).

They by pass the current laws to make them legal doesn’t mean they are harmless.

I never stated nor inferred that they were.

Bringing it back to the original article. Isn’t the point of this a little moot?

Lots of these so called legal highs are not sold for human consumption, so the current work around for sales would continue?

How can you ban a legal high, the whole point of calling it a legal high is that the contents are by definition legal.

At the risk of being shunned as a moron….

What’s the issue if you are under the limit? Personally I wouldn’t drink a drop then drive, but those that are happy to have a unit or so and stay under the limit then why does it matter where they do it?

Given that alcohol is going to take a while to get into the bloodstream (and therefor impair judgement), isn’t it better to do it whilst driving than prior to?

Hang on he said 1×8, not SS.

Am I wrong in thinking that a SS chainring would be different to NW?

    Depends, what’s the plan?

Keep mech as a chain guide?

    Presumably non clutched mech.

Just for commuting then probably not too many chain drops

Mah, spec looks over £400 and as long as drivetrain is running smoothly is it really going to be valued at under £400, I doubt it.

Seems a bit of an insult to take it to be valued though. Worst case flog it on here, sure you could recoup your losses.

(BTW did anyone do the “She’s go some Nerve” gag yet?)

Have used FairFX before, but it depends where you are going and how much cash vs card you want.

Just to put Islabikes resale into perspective, I bought our CNOC second hand for £55 (while ago now). 4 Years later (2 kids), sold it for £75.

Admittedly at £55 I felt like I was stealing it, but they do hold value very well 🙂

I got a large Islabikes Beinn 20 when the little one was 8, but she’s now 11 and 5’2 so very tall for her age.

Can’t say good enough things about Islabikes, CNOC16 maybe?

Swap it for a proper faceplate if you are having to buy something, hate those dangly things. Might squeeze a little more speed too.

I would definitely leave your 3k bike chained up outside work…. wouldn’t leave mine there though 🙂

I have the MC2, would only swap it for something more expensive.

    Probably a Eureka Mignon.

Did mine a while back, the mounting part is easy, cable management is a pain in the arse.

Fortunately it was a second hand bike I built up (new for me), so it’s already well off trend 🙂

I can occupy myself with building my commute bike, just unfortunate that the weather will suck by the time I actually get to commute on it. And one leg will be much more powerful that the other. 🙂

    Could be worse…

You could have just ruptured your achilles…

3-6 months off the bike, not like I just built a new one… oh wait!

Fork has a spacer that can be removed to move it to a 130, so that would be ok for a 5″

Think it pretty much solved it, still not quite perfect, but a little bit more limit screw helped as well.

Unfortunately it’s ****ing it down now, so might be weekend before it gets a real run out.

Ok all in, sealant in, shook around etc.

I am assuming once it’s had some time to seal, on the trial a hand pump should be fine?

Took our 3 year old for the second time over the weekend (coincidentally to see UP).

He sits there quiet as a mouse, litterally never seen him as quiet as when he is in the cinema, much easier than his six year old sister.

I wouldn't hesitate, if the little one doesn't behave you can always leave, and a little bit of noise is acceptable (it's a kids movie), you have to expect kids to be there.

BTW He is exactly same, will sit through a film and loves Cars, and generally all things Pixar 😛
