I do like the new BFe blue on Cotic's website. If that was an option I might have gone for it rather than the black.

Loved it. Amazed at home much the frame took the 'edge' off bumps etc..whilst remaining direct.

I bought a 2001 110 CSW, I didn't notice at the time but it had the injector loom problem. I only realised when the I opened the drivers seat cubby box and it was full of oil which had tracked back through the loom and came out at the plug for the ECU. I had the injector loom replaced and the new seals where the loom connected to the injectors. I ran it for quite a while cleaning the ECU plug of oil as it slowly worked its way out of the loom. Luckily he ECU was fine.

Back to the original post, I've always had Landys: Series Ones, Lightweights, 101, various trials motors, Defenders and a Discovery. I decided that I couldn't justify running a Defender as an everyday commuter. Plus I fancied something more comfortable and economical for everyday use. I bought an estate car for daily use and I'm building a '48 series 1 for the weekend so I can still get my fix! Best of both worlds.

Are HR's slow rolling? The fact that the Advantages are supposed to be fast rolling are one of the things that attracted me to them. I'm replacing Bonty ACX's.

Advantages are looking good at the mo. I like the fact they come up larger than the 2.1 HR and are still light.

If I was to run a 2.35 HR on the front, what would I be looking at? the kevlar SPC version? Whats maxxpro?

Cheers guys. I was thinking of replacing the Bonty's so this has made my mind up!

    Spooky – they are 2.2's

I have to admit I can get the tyre on and off without levers.

The wheels were built by Dave Hinde – I know! I know!

What would the bead stretching do?

Be careful. Someone pinched my tdi 90 stw a few years back. Middle of the day from a car park in the centre of a market town. I eventually bought a td5 110 stw, but I was constantly wary.

I sold the 110 and bought an estate car as a daily driver and I’m building a series 1 for tatting around in at the weekends. It’ll stay in a garage.

I still get the urge for a lightweight or similar for daily use, something that looks scruffy so does not attract attention and you don’t need to worry about it getting knocked about, but with decent mechanicals.

Honda Accord Tourer cdti – massive boot, well screwed together, reliable, excellent diesel engine. Practical and nice to drive, but not fun.

Ikea. They do a galvanised vertical telescopic pole, and bike hangers which fit on the pole. Works out about £12 (I think). I’ve two (for storing four bikes) and have had no problems. Its caller’broder’and is in amongst the storage section in the catalogue.

I had a pair of wheels built by DH and I ordered a pair of forks at the same time. Four years later the wheels are still spot on. I ended up going to trading standards to get my money back for the forks that never turned up, after being lied to over a couple of months.

I don’t care how good their wheels are, I wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole.
