    Probably best

I had an Enduro with E150 forks and an SX with 36’s, I stuck the Vans on the Enduro as I got a good deal on some Totems I was happy until I swapped my SX with a mate for one run at a DH spot, he had 40’s on his DH bike and the difference was huge, I sold the SX/Totems and bought a Demo8 with Boxxers and now mainly ride those two bikes

One bike to do everything? There’s always a compromise somewhere

I’ve sold my 08 SX but did run 36’s Vans originally and Totems latterly, the Totems were awesome, slackened the bike and were very stiff, I now have a DH bike and run the 36’s on my Enduro

You say you want more versatility, what kind of riding? (The SX IMO is only any good for FR and light DH) are you looking to use it for XC/AM? might be too heavy even with lighter wheels/tubes for that kind of thing unless you’re super fit

Yeah mine are stacked side by side atm, the wife doesn’t know how much forks cost or how delicate stanchions can be hence me wanting another solution

Cheers Tracey, they look pretty good and obviously take a lot of different wheel/tyre types 🙂

I’ve said it before, but most of the illegal trail builders I’ve come across dont bother with forums and therefore won’t see all this ranting

I use cruise a lot, helps lessen tyre and brake pad wear and keeps things more constant, on the motorway you often see cars accelerate past you only to slam the brakes on a few seconds later.

Sometimes I use satnav when I know where I’m going and have lots of time to spare, it’ll sometimes tell you are going to be very early to a meeting and I just dial in 60mph or similar on the motorway, take phone calls etc, relax, let everyone overtake you, still get to where you’re going on time and save money on fuel.

God, I’m really boring myself now ZZZZzzzzzz

Cant be arsed to work out all that £££ spent vs miles driven (get a life)

Screen shows about 38-44 if I boot it around, 46-48 if using cruise etc and longer journeys.

I ditched those forks for Van36’s, I think the crown to axle was the same if not a few mm shorter than the E150 but with 10mm more travel

No I idea what they’re like, but they look bloody awful. Probably more protection than one of the Met Parachutes which cant see doing anything much in a big spill.

    Shandy:

You could probably get a decent XC lid and a full face for less than the cost of the Casco.

Probably but the full face would no doubt be a full MX lid that would be bigger and heavier than the moon and would boil your brain in the summer.

If you are looking for an itermediate lid, you wont go too far wrong with a spesh deviant, light, good airflow, proper chin guard.

Different formats, the flipultra is MPG4 also but uses internal storage, think I’ll take that out as the stationary cam on my test (it was free anyway)

I bought one of these last year (not yesterday 🙂 ) as my family/holiday device and only ever strapped it to my camelbak once using an old phone holder pouch with a hole cut for the lense and also to my helmet once, the result was fairly good but was never going to be as good as a GoPro as the mounting solutions available arent as good, I also won a Flip HD cam recently and have bought myself a GoPro for Xmas (so have options a plenty)

My plan now is to take the GP and The Kodak out, use the GP on the bike/person and the Kodak can be used with a stationary gorillapod or possibly to view the card on GP to see if its pointing in exactly the direction I want, not sure if this’ll work, haven’t looked at the files types on each

    Another thought

I much prefer my saloon to my old estate, I stick the bikes on the back, tow bar was £220 and rack was about £300 (the former being used on a number of cars) so £220 is cheaper than the estate option and means I dont need to drive around in a huge car when not riding.

My Passat also looked a bit like a hearse

Unlike the new’un (not my car but identical)

I was told the same in 2009 also, but was curious to whether this had officially been adopted yet, or just trail chat

You’d think they’d put as one of the benefits of membership rather than you can get 15% off of an anorak

If this is true, then great, but I’m not so sure

its a good price for new but a huge frame and like you mention, without the original shock (DHX4 or 5)

I bet you could get a mint used bike for £900 – £1000 there’s always a few on Pinkbike

SX’s will be cheap as Spesh UK arent bringing them in for 2011, so you should be able to get a deal from another shop on a large if this one goes

What sort of money is this bike you’ve seen and how old is it?

I had an 08 SX for a while, pretty nice with Vans up front, tried my spare (at the time) 888’s and it handled really bad even with them set at 180mm travel (ATA), the lowers were very long so the C2A was too much, I fitted Totems in the end and it was a peach, not quite a DH bike, but massively better than when it had the Vans

I’m 6’1″ and it was a large, I’ve seen an XL before and it looked like a gate. Dont know much about Wotans but I’d check the crown to axle length as it can make a difference

My last car was a 140 Passat Estate, I bought it new for £21K with a few extras and it went wrong a lot, got rid of it at 50K miles, during one of the breakdowns I drove a Mondeo for a few days, bloody fast, real big, but nasty inside (IMO) bought a new 170 Skoda Octavia VRS a few months back £18K with almost all the extra inc a DSG gearbox, very quick, economical to run and a massive boot (largest in its class I think)

    Skoda are great VFM

I thought the gopro mounts looked a bit cr@p for what they cost and two might be needed for different surface areas, post and frame (rollcage)
I saw the one above and didnt want to pay £50, it looks so similar to the Thule clamp (I have two knocking about) so thought I might have a go at fashioning something similar.

    Martin, get an EOS 7D

Bought mine in the Evans sale, yet to use it, but will be picking my modified helmet strap today from the local dressmaker who is turning it into a chesty for a few quid.

    I gave them this picture:

I use a piece of thick pond liner, it covers the rear seats when they are down and goes over the boot opening to stop bikes from making the bumper

See you’ve started a thread for Pitch or SX frame wanted, Enduro might be better, enduro’s are good with 36’s up front, the SX will be a bit too heavy to pedal around (tried that) but pretty close to a DH bike with Totems

Also the stem I ordered was a 50mm direct mount, they sent a 60mm, when I rang to complain, they said they only stocked 50mm, I asked him to look at his stock and he found 60mm aplenty and had a computer showing 50mm only, and a printed stock list showing both

The Boxxer Teams I bought, didn't come with set up instructions, good job you can download stuff like that.

    Never again
