I went for a Boardman when I bought mine. It seemed that most just above entry level bikes had a £1K pricepoint.

http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/boardman-road-team-carbon-bike (normally £1K) are in their sale £799, flash your BC membership card (doesnt cost much) p/a and gets you another 10% off £720 happy days

Its last accounts show an annual turnover of £18.3 million, and profit of £109,689. In 2015 the company made a loss of £86,594 on a turnover of £20 million.”

They must have been getting something very wrong unless they’re asset rich or have invested in their property or something

Are the fox CTD versions? If so I’d avoid. Pikes are great forks if you can find a deal, very easy to home maintain and IMO will require a little less servicing than FOX

Last year for escapism I took the road bike with me on our family holiday. I now have two bike racks which are used for MTB and see no reason why my THULE soft luggage bag wont fit between as its just a mirror image, and being soft luggage less likely to be an issue.

I might be wrong though and have had a couple of glasses of wine tonight

I have a joystick and ^that mount^ on my Bell Super.

No cables, plenty bright, good tight fit and doesn’t budge apart from when clipping big branches

I’m wondering how the rider is, that doesn’t look good at any speed, crash or not.

My recent experience with Evans and a sets of pikes wasn’t a good one, the store were good, but the service department thereafter in Kendle? (cant remember – northern) were pretty rude and accusing. Different failure though. Sram on the other hand chose to replace my forks, so was a happy ending 🙂

You can get shorts with padded hips (Troy Lee Moto has removable ones).

I binned it on a night ride a week ago, just toward the end of supernova there is a tree sticking out on the right, it now has a lot of bark missing 🙂

    Yep – as above

Although the Caynon with s/c forks may corner better depending on where you want to ride this?

I have an Enduro and a Canyon – both s/c forks

Buds fall out of my ears so dont use them for any activity.

Wired cans on the train, bluetooth on the bike.

My phone battery lasts a couple of days so no issue for me

Weirdly they are like wearing headphones albeit not high quality as they don’t plug into your ears but great for sports.

I only use them for cycling but have been told they can leak a little if you are using them around others (transport/office etc)

I have a pair of those aftershokz headphones and use them on the road and for riding out to meet others for MTB or solo rides.

If you play them low you can still hear everybody/thing/cars/cycle transmission etc.

Its a bit like being downstairs with music on upstairs, you can hear it, it can motivate you but you can still hear everything else (inc cars coming up behind you)

Good battery life too – recommended

Mudhugger out of the two, the other is flimsy in comparison and is easily distorted over time.

Just bought another brand which arrived today which appears as thick in construction as the mudhugger but cheaper. Search Riesel Schlamm on Ebay and other places

Some funky designs, but hey cheap and functional

Whats dorking west like now these days. I thought it supposed to be a bit blown out, over grown and with a lot nasty stuff poking out of the ground (built with building site waste)

Caveat – I’ve never ridden there

Just about to buy some more Vaults, best pedal I’ve ridden with so far, would like the Boomslangs but not at £110-£130 when you can pick up the Vaults at £69

I used to be a fan of the original SS Nano until I tried the Vault

Those Nukeproof Evo pedals previously mentioned look to be manufactured by HT components, you can buy them cheaper at SS as “El Plastique” with a couple less pins (25% off this month with code MADMAY25FB) which makes them £18.75

The exotic are the same as the previous SS Nano and the Kona Wah Wah and etc… all made by HT, just buy whichever is the cheapest if you like the smaller platform.

I’d also wager that the new Nano is a Uk machined platform on foriegn axles, sold as UK manufactured,, but the parts that bend or wear aren’t actually UK made, just UK assembled

    ****ts

I did a solo ride up that way last week in the dark and got a wee bit lost.

Would have been awesome to have shredded my tyres/face/whatever then walked back to the car (or not)

Have a new merc which is small inside, have owned a Skoda which was good vfm. but at that budget and wanting space, I’d look at the Mondeo, even as a hatch, its massive

munrobiker » I would, however, also like to point out that Specialized’s warranty department had a change of staff in 2014 with a new guy in charge and their previous exceptional standards have gone.

I have had spesh for 10 years and change bikes regularly.

I needed some hep recently and based upon their change in attitude (have claimed before) would never buy another

But that does look like a nasty whack – unlucky dude

    Hi mate

The V8/V12 and Shimano are pretty thick so more chance of pedal strikes to floor/objects.

    I ride DMR Vaults big/thin.

For a narrower pedals I’d buy

http://www.carboncycles.cc/?s=0&c=84&p=1637&tb=001 (thru pins – easier to replace when worn down as allen cap is hidden away)
    or http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/delta-evo-pedals.htm

I have a new six pack and a joystick.

I went big as it’s nice to have the option to ride out and back to meet others and have extra burn time.

Did a four hour ride and still had 50% left when I got back (toggling up and down during the ride – probably didnt need to though). The mounting bracket and buit in battery are a massive bonus too rather than nasty fixings, velcro and o-rings – rock solid and unclips very easily onto another bike.

Big investment – but its nice to get home without the light running out.

    140mm/20mm Pikes or Marzocchi Z1 150/20?

Wouldn’t touch the Jnr T, sh1te internals and you’ll lose the turning circle on your bike

Newer fork option Marzocchi 44 RC3 Ti
