Our paramedics are Band 5 so £21,176-£27,625 as a comparison.

Compare say a paramedic in the public sector with one in the private sector.

    Or a Consultant Neurologist.

Or a Child Protection Social Worker.

Comparisons have to be like for like to be useful which is why the ONS produced the pdf below to explain the difference in the link you posted.

The HC does come with pictures to help you with stuff like that. If you bothered to read the whole thread it might help…

I find the picture confusing as well tbh. If there were 2 cyclists in that picture (or another car) then overtaking on that road would be impossible without the offside wheels being on the grass verge.

You’ll have to see if you can borrow Steve’s, and then I’ll take you out for a blast if you want Tony?

Thought you were gonna show us round the secret bits of Delamere in the dry this summer?

We are gonna have to sort this.

    Tap.

Typically on the roads I use, whether in the huge van, a car or on a bike, it is a very regular occurance that the larger vehicles bully and intimidate the smaller.

The only rationale I can ascribe to this is that they feel safer in their larger vehicle and are more willing to enter a ‘risk of collision’ incident because of this percieved safety. Anything that reduces this willingness to engage in risk taking seems a good idea in my book.

Also, the other week I very nearly had some kid as a bonnet badge and it was TOTALLY his fault. Stupid cocky little **** had the nerve to give me the finger too… Oh, I can just see it now in Court, his parents telling the Magistrate how their model child would never ride on the pavement, while letting a sad little tear slide down their cheeks, and painting me as some child-murdering 4×4-driving maniac…

How did you nearly hit someone on the pavement whilst in your 4×4?

    I got an A, 3xB, 4xC, 2xD and an F.

12 years ago. They are getting easier.

Quite a few kids there this morning that got results like that or worse.

I got B’s, C’s and D’s many, many years ago.

Not convinced high grades can all be due to it getting easier.

Me too, I tend to extend BB life by knocking DS ones out and putting them in NDS shells.

Get 2 BB’s for the price of one that way.

    Tight Yorkshireman. Me. Nooooooooo.

5A and 5B plus a merit in IT for my lad, really pleased for him as he’s worked hard and got A’s in the subjects he needed; 6th form of choice stipulated A grade minimum at GCSE for the A levels he wanted to do.

bikeneil – that’s narrowed it down a bit.

bigyinn – Cube site not that informative as its an old bike but I have got the original catalogue which says it’s a 55mm headset (that’s the bit that confuses me)

With the info from here and a bit of headtube measuring I should be fine.

    Thanks fellas.

Not pulled the forks to measure but have been googling a bit.

    Result – even more confused.

Don’t want to buy a set of tapered forks then find they don’t fit.

Been looking at that link but I still can’t work it out, the only one near 55mm is the Scott/Lapierre one and it’s not that.

Might have to open it up and measure it, see what I can come up with.

diagnosed with osteoporosis and told by a specialist to stop riding off road too much jarring on my back and take up jogging on hard surfaces instead !

Jarring on the tibia initiates the greatest increases in overall body bone density, hence the running on hard surfaces advice. Cycling typically reduces bone density via a few mechanisms but heavy offroad riding will still generate enough tibial load to positively effect density.

Trigeminal neuralgia responds well to both anticonvulsants and tricyclic antidepressants such as Amitrityline. I would be asking the doctor to at least trial them to assess their effectiveness.

Are there no xc trails at all then ?

Yes. Was a tongue in cheek comment cos I would have liked to have tried the trails at the bike park as well as the other riding we will be doing.

Also, when mine were littler we went to Glentrool and the blue was remarkably good fun for them.

I sort of know what you mean. I love my bike but it’s scuffed, dented, scratched and generally tatty although mechanically pretty spot on.

It certainly looks much older than it is but I see other folks bikes which are as old or older that look almost pristine.

If the cassette has dug into the freehub then I find the following releases them:

Chainwhip on larger cogs and tap the cogs with a screwdriver/hammer combo. Do the same with chainwhip on small individual cog and tap round the main cassette body.

    Hope that makes sense.

As far as I am aware there are no trails beyond fireroads in Hiraethog Forest and none are specific bike routes.

Cloclanog (sp?) has some trails but not sure what they are like.

The Clwyds are somewhere I keep meaning to ride as there looks to be some interesting stuff – must remember to stop driving through on the way to somewhere else.

    Quick google brings up this:

    Clwyds

Must be some locals on here somewhere.

I’m possibly being a bit thick here but the gist seems to be that SRAM are applying for a patent on a product that already exists made by a number of different manufacturers.

Shouldn’t they patent something before loads of people are making it?
