Another vote for the Cambridge audio minx go.
Got one a couple of months ago, they are incredible.
    Pick a review, any review.
Battery life, audio quality, volume, price and easy of use all outstanding.
I got mine as used but ‘factory refurbished’ from eBay, saved a few quid.
May as well have been brand new.

I have a pair of rigid steel forks on my ti456, im almost certain they were 29er forks from Singular. Theyre a very nice pale blue, height and stiffness are perfect for me.
Cant remember what i paid (a couple of years ago) but they were they best overall i could find at the time.

I’ve had All-ett wallets for years.
Really thin because of how they arrange the cards.

    Leather Original Slim Wallet

The way they’ve all failed is by the raised numbers on the cards wearing through the sailcloth-type fabric on the inside of the wallet.
Current one is about worn through, I’m thinking of a duck tape repair in the short term…

…to add to the above, I’ve used On One for years and have had nothing but positive experiences until now.
My Ti456 is as close to my perfect bike as I’d ever hoped to achieve…

I ordered a rigid carbon fork in the Christmas sales, got an email from Planet X the other week saying they were out of stock and I’d been refunded.
Bit peeved, as I’m sure when I ordered they were expecting stock mid-Jan.
Was a bargain too at £120-odd.
Guess I’ll take my chances with the direct-from-China lottery now…

Not sure about whether or not it’s an import, but I decided that the ebay one was worth a punt and ordered.

Shipped out quickly (but via DPD who have a history of throwing my deliveries over the neighbour’s fence).

Email invoice/receipt is from Fantronix, who appear to have a website outside of ebay which is reassuring.

    Fingers crossed!

    Hmm.
    Just spoken with DL select.
M&S renewal is £290, DL select quote is £462, and the lady said she couldn’t match the renewal quote because m&s is not a 5* policy.
    The search continues…

    Bugger.
    Thanks though.
For anyone interested, renewal was about £290 with M&S, online quote with Direct Line Select was ~£500 but I need to find a moment to call them…

I am trying very hard not to buy a Zebralight SC600 Mk II from here:
    http://www.e2fieldgear.com/zebralight-sc600-mark-2-mk-ii-cool-white-led-flashlight-with-900-lumens/

Reviews have been excellent and £50 delivered seems like a billy bargain.
I prefer warmer lights and I’d really like something with an MT-G2, but for portability, power and reliability these do seem difficult to beat.

I also got on well with Mitchell’s wool fat soap, it did last for literally years but it left a proper scum in the sink, which was annoying.

I’m now a total convert to Ingram. Cheap as you like and i don’t think I’ve used anything i like more.

I have a pair of SR80’s (old now so not the i’s), they sound fantastic.
Open backed though so not great if there is background noise, or if you’re trying not to disturb someone else in the room.

The foam on my earpieces is starting to break down now but I’m assuming I can get replacements from Grado.

Thumbs up for the Grado’s from me.

I wanted a global but when i tried one i really didn’t like how they felt. Bought Henckels Twin Fin instead, could not be more pleased with them. Crazy sharp, thin, great handle and well balanced. Will buy more when i can afford…

Tea is fantastic, to be enjoyed in volume.
The dangerhousehold has been enjoying punjana (? An irish brand!) of late, cheap as chips from morissons and loads better than yorkshire. Yum.

Mine are probably Number9Dream and Ghostwritten by David Mitchell. Seem to read Ghostwritten every year at some point. Ive always got a partially read Culture novel secreted in a dark corner of the house, even when you’ve read them a couple of times it’s nice to dip in.

Depends how long and what sort of camping.
Car camping for a week = aeropress. If I was carrying everything on my back I’d be considering posh sachets I think

I’ve got a 56 plate 1.8 sport. Was reading an indicated 43 mpg over 8000 miles, mainly a road commuting.
Mpg seems noticeably lower in the winter, higher in the summer for me, possibly down to types though?
Averaged 49 mpg over 1000 miles on holiday last week (sensible motorway/A road driving mostly).
As others have said, much thirstier above about 4000 rpm but that is where the most fun is.
Awesome car for lugging stuff about, the magic rear seats are fantastic.
Civinfo forum is quite a helpful place if you need more information!

I think the ‘less than 30 mins battery’ on those Fandyfire X2’s refers to the light telling you when there’s less than 30 mins of battery left.

    Various opinions here: http://forums.mtbr.com/lights-night-riding/solarstorm-fandyfire-x2-844802.html

ska – After a temporarily aborted attempt to build my own light (lack of skills and hardware) I’ve I’ve ordered one of these for $46, which I think was about £30. Not arrived yet and probably not brilliant when it does, but I figured that at worst I could cannibalise it for parts..

I remember at uni we watched a really interesting video (title was something like “the sword of damocles”) about the Pepcon ammonium perchlorate plant that went up in the 80’s. Was equivalent to about a kiloton, and they got excellent footage of the main detonation e.g.

Sorry trout, must have been over eager filters at hotmail.
If you resend I’ll keep an eye on the junk folder.

Actually, after a little amateur sleuthing: am I posting to you at the BD20 0DS address as per troutie.com?

I bought some bargin Smith & Wesson ones a year or so ago.
Despite their fugly looks, I’ll be wearing them around the office all day today because I somehow managed to pack mismatched work shoes.

Hi Trout – I sent you an email at the blueyonder address in your profile, is that the best way to talk about any assistance you might be able to provide?

Trout, you are a diamond, I will definitely take you up on that.
I’ll wait until the switch has arrived, then I’ll get back in touch.

In terms of the LED and the driver, both were from Illumination Supply.
    LEDs are these:
    https://illuminationsupply.com/nichia-nvsl219ath1-4500k-92-cri-b10-bin-20mm-triple-star-p-160.html
They’re equivalent to XPGs but hopefully should be a nice neutral tint with a high CRI.

    Driver is this one:
    https://illuminationsupply.com/8xamc7135-304a-selectable-mode-driver-p-142.html
However, reading through the blurb on the website I now realise I may have ordered something that doesn’t really fit this application.

I tested the batteries I have last night and they’re both old and knackered, so I’ll order a new one from Smudge. I was going to salvage connectors from an old light, but if I’m ordering from Smudge and there’s a particular connector that you’d recommend let me know.

Not sure what your going rate is for this sort of thing but let me know.
Happy to discuss outside of STW, my email address is in my profile.

    Thanks!
    Adam

Miele cat and dog here too, has been floorless (boom boom!) for 5 years. Turbo brush picks up dangerMrs’ fine blond hair up off the carpet nicely, as well as the dog’s short black ‘uns.
Genuine bags not cheap but I keep an eye out for bargain bulk packs on Amazon and ebay, it’s not like they have a shelf life…

Only thing I have noticed is that the tool cover doesn’t like latching when it’s hot.

Not sure Alan. I’m normally an medium or a large and based on their sizing guide I went for a large.
