It is also important to learn that you must ALWAYS ask if it is ok to stroke a dog before doing it.

I regularly bump in to kids who make a beeline for our dogs and immediately hold a hand out to offer a pat or stroke without asking. My two love the attention but a nervous or badly treated dog may behave differently.

My son (now 4 years old) was born into a house with 3 cats and 2 dogs and is quite comfortable with them as you might expect.

Oddly, he is terrified of worms – not sure why. It is not as if he has been attacked by one (yet)

good luck introducing the dog. Cats can be a bit volitile but hopefully you may have a mate with a docile dog to introduce to your son.

iirc there is only about 30ml of oil in the air side and about 160 in the damper side?

I got broke, sold up and replaced it all with a 100mm forked 456 summer season with cable brakes.

There is nothing I wouldn’t ride now that I would before – locals trails and the odd trail centre. If I suddenly got all rich, I have no idea what I would get…

depends what you are used to? I can’t abide standing around munching cake or making the Pub your destination personally, but to many people thats integral to the ride.

I ride up because it is neccesary. I even enjoy clearing a techy one, but would never choose that in favour of a good descent

Just remembered another one.

On a night ride my mate and I were riding down a deserted B road when we saw the blink of a bike light in the bushes by the side of the road.

In the bush was a 50-something chap lying on his front next to his bike (helmet still on) Assuming he had taken a tumble we offered assistance. He was clearly irritated by our intrusion and sent us on our way. It was 2.00AM. The chap was very well spoken .

1 Bike. All off STW classifieds + other people’s sheds. Total build cost less than 200 quid (yes its an on one)

Its my only bike and it gets me to work too.

If i had loads of spare cash I would buy something bling – why wouldnt you?

Edit. I do use my LBS for small bits and bobs – it is invaluable for that. I wont, however pay hime 15 quid for some fork oil when I can go to the Motorcycle shop and get better stuff for half the price.

Oh and Wouldnt bother with a map as I am never allowed out long enough to warrant needing one

I had a tubeless tyre blow off the rim on me. I had been running it all week to work and back all week at far too many PSi.

Took the wheel off to fettle the bike one day and without warning the thing blew right behind me. Must have been at tipping point and some fine british sun took it over the edge

The bike was upside down. Was that the cause?

A Re-heated Chilli con carne eaten mostly in bread in front of the telly late at night

Been doing shifts for 16 years now.

I have found it has got harder not easier.

14.30 – 22.30 is best for morning rides/ tinkering (and catching up on some sleep )but for wife and family it is the worse; My wife has to do everything and I spend pretty much all week without seeing them
