Try to make your alarm inaccessible too. My mate’s alarm sent some scumbags packing one night. A few days later his bikes were gone.

The scrotes spent enough time on the first attempt to locate the alarm so they could smash it within seconds when they came back. They unscrewed the hinges too so sort that

edit. I fancy one of these Trip wire operated shotgun blanks

I’m not saying don’t ever get a FS bike, I’ve got a Pitch, I love it, but to ride the same trails, at the same speed, it allows a lot of lazyness and mistakes that you learn not to make on the HT to creep in and are either swallowed up entriely, or becme a slight wobble on the FS.

Could you not say the same about having a suspension fork ?

I have had rigids, FS bikes and steel Hardtails. You ride each on it’s merits and hopefully as fast as you can. like one of the previous posters, my riding really came along on when I got my first FS bike and I was more confident on the Hardtail as a result.

You can be lazy whatever you ride

The problem with starting on a full sus is you cant “get better”. You cant learn to ride properly on one, this needs to be done on a hardtail (the cheaper the better). So he’s bascially plateaued straight away with a full sus.

I found my first full Suss worked wonders for my head game in a way that gave me the confidence to do more stuff on my hardtail later on.

I am sure you can name a variety of Super-expensive MTB components
that do the same job as their much cheaper alternatives.

My Wife went away with Her sister a while back .If they did hookers in Tesco’s I would have been in there like a rat up a Drainpipe.

Instead I stripped my Bike in the Living room and ate a LOT of Pizza

    his is very depressing.

Keep meaning to head into Bristol to try out the new trails and will have to have our bikes on the roof of the car but worried they will take down the reg or something. We live way out of Bristol but still worried.

I don’t think this is peculiar only to Bristol for a Minute. I know that the Cheltenham Cycling club were warning of stuff like this happening over the last couple of years. If you are advertising £££ worth of kit riding it or sticking it on top of your car you may get followed where ever you are. My mate has had a few bikes nicked from Chelt and they were definitely not random events.

I keep all my Crap in a BBB “Tools and tubes” thingy that goes in a bottle holder.

At least I used to – my current frame only has one holder mount on it

After my CBT ran out I got this: (You can ride it on a car licence)

Its only a little 250 and even With Performance tweaks like jetting/ filters/ exhaust wouldn’t make it much past 60MPH. They are silly fun though – especially in the wet (wheel spacers are a must, however)
    Safe? I dunno.

I replaced this with a 660 raptor but didnt have it long as it was knackered

Im 37 and I really fancy getting another small Learner Legal bike to potter around on. I cycle around to work etc right now but increasingly can’t be arsed to pedal these days

Annoyingly though, I’ll have to do another CBT as I got rid of my last bike when it ran out and never converted it into a test.

Get your CBT, get some experience but convert it to a full licence before you have to do it all over again

I never ever click through to a linked ad.

I do. Trouble is is that you often come across unanswered questions on the original thread because the OP has stopped monitoring it.

I really can’t understand the “CBA taking photos” thing. If that is too taxing then responding to emails and actually posting the item must be a nightmare.

edit. And Classified only users requesting that you “PM ME” without realising there is no PM system on STW irritates me 🙂

On my my older F100s, I could get full travel if I used low pressures, but the forks felt too soggy with no support if any weight was put on them. I took about 15mm off the air shaft and that worked a treat

I am surprised this is still an issue on newer models though so a simple air tweak may be all you need before you start chopping your lovely 2011 fox forks! Don’t be afraid to let a little air out. (but dont go mad)

edit. Have you taken all the air out and made sure you get full travel?

I would sell it – not at a ten grand starting price though.

A one-quid-no-reserve gamble might just get people fighting for it and it might go all the way. It was free, after all.

Would donate a bit to charity too.

There is nothing more off putting to potential new users of a forum than long serving, seemingly constantly posting, users incessantly proffering forceful points of view and being argumentative. As this place is run to promote a magazine and encourage new users it seems fair enough that they pull the plug on those that make the place look unwelcoming. In my opinion he couldn’t help himself falling into that category. He’s not alone mind.

This might be true but the forum is well subscribed and has enough content that new users can still find threads here that interest them (and can avoid the more inflammatory threads)

I have been a member of many smaller forums that cover a variety of interests that have been so dominated by their own ‘big hitters’ that only sycophants stand a chance of integrating. It’s not like that here.

Indeed there is. Ride to work every day though and the earache I get off my Wife if I don’t wear it hurts more than the pimples…

(she is in charge and that is how it’s always been)

Get your full bike test before your CBT runs out.

I have had 2 CBTs now and both times didn’t go on to get a full test. I fancy another little bike again now, and guess what..Ill have to do a CBT
