Thanks for quick response, we tried the VGA and HDMI routes hoping it might auto switch, it didn’t unfortunately.

do you have a little projector or screen hotkey ? (mine is F4)
I can plug my Telly in while the Laptop is on via HDMI and it comes to life if I tap this hotkey.

edit slowoldgit beat me to it

Are you sure screen is gone? Lappy might be making all the right noises, buut not actually working.

    2.5″ caddies are readily available
.Make sure you work out what kind of connection your HDD has

Might auto switch to the external VGA if you connect it to a monitor and turn it on ad operate it normally

    Or you could use HDMI?

Failing that buy a cheap USB caddy and stick your hard drive in it and get the data off from another PC

Dunno – full size keyboard and screen that is projected from a little handheld mobile PC with 4G

edit. That might not take 25 years to come

I wont pay pub prices for Lager, so I wont be going there during or after a ride.

Not interested in cake unless it has candles in it

We only have one car in the family – a crap old passat with a mahoosive dent in the side

    I work in a factory

edit. To be fair I don’t really ride my bike much. Why do I visit this forum every day..???

    but I have had 5 on-ones.
    2 Dogs
experimented with tubeless, stems, bars, dropper posts etc etc
really really wanted an orange 5 for ages

In more simplistic language, you had a flu jab and now your arm hurts.

No I had a Flu jab in one arm and that is just a bit sore.

I had a one-off pneumonia vaccine in the other arm and it hurts like a bastard

but thanks for taking an interest

(PS: A report about bowel movements wouldn’t exactly go against the grain in this place, so feel free)

think I am up to 5. Technically 5.3

I don’t own a Five, don’t drink Coffee, don’t work in IT and don’t own a car. Does that mean I get banned from STW?

    maybe.

I do have a car but I don’t have a wood burner. Am I banned too?

Camera is goid but its an expensive way to buy a camera

Indeed it is. I need a phone though and I like having a camera on me. (but wouldnt take one out alongside the phone)

I am going to cancel. The 20 quid/ month can go towards the bike fund…

I think it was argued to death a few months ago.

Basically, if you turn your bike upside down, you are a hand-fisted mechanically inept heathen in the eyes of the self-proclaimed pros who don’t.

Cannot be arsed..but have to play the game .Will be sat around with 6 other people who really CBA either. (family). I wonder how many smartphones will be getting clicked simutaniously while everyone sits in silence?

At some point everybody will link hands and fail to sing the words to “Auld lang syne” This bit really turns my stomach

I met someone once who has a partner with similar interests and they ride the Malverns on new years eve, I envy him

I gave up on contacts when I got a bit of grit in there and had to ride home with one eye…

Its true though – riding in glasses crap. It has ruined a weekend away for me where, on the first day I was wiping my glasses so much because of the rain and muck that I knackered the coating and couldnt see for the rest of the trip.

The fogging up is a pain too.

We are introducing a mandatory safety specs rule at work so I am going for some of the S0220 safety specs which might be quite good for riding?

have not got them yet. might be crap

Well I have bought a rear (which hopefully has a RH lever to go with the LH one I have already)

That will provide me with some new pads which I need, a spare caliper and I will have a pair of levers to use if I ever get bored of dual control.

Does anyone run a SS as their only bike.>? I would probably go 32-16 (or even 18 to begin with)

After ripping a mech off recently, I was going to give it a go but its the 5 miles of road before I get to the woods that puts me off… (I dont often have the luxury of the car)

My Mate’s 09 ex8 cracked and he got a new one with no quibble. Not only that but the 2012 has a different shock so that was changed as well. Ace!

Commencal Combi Frame off Ebay for 26 quid
Reba Race forks with mahoosive stanchion scratch. . Was going to change the bushes but they are unmarked and the stanchion flattened out lovely even if it looks nasty (its right at the top anyway ) Cost me £50 plus some seals and oil
Dual Control shifters 25 quid new unused
Built up wheels with cheap spokes and mavic 119 rims @16/ pair
    rest is parts bin stuff
Crank+bb one of those 25 quid HT2 jobs from CRC that didnt have a picture on their website

just got a nice XT RR rear mech off here for £12, and a new chain

Cheap build but it is tight and rides well…not that I have been out on it since the new mech!

I too have nearly been taken out by the old extending dog lead trick. However, if the worst was to happen, the dog walker the innocent dog (unfortunately) would not escape unscathed. I’m not sure if this would make me feel better but at least they would share my pain!

Just how fast are you lot going when you are flying past people and their dogs? If I approach a dog walker I excercise the correct amount of caution… 8O

The dogs got assorted pig’s ears and bones from my sister in law

Issed the first morsels and got treated to an hour of growling and guarding.

The alternative would just be ‘weird’ if it did work.

I think it i jsut depends on what you are used to- with my conventional shifters and mech, I ‘push’ to go up the cassette (and a big push goes up more spockets) and pull to click down the casette. With a conventional mech on a dual control it feels exactly the same to me…

The push is pushing the lever down and the pull is lifting your fingers up. When I swap to rapid rise, I will lose the ability to jump quickly to that 34T in that ‘oops there is a big hill’ situation like with conventional shifters/ mech!

I love mine. (got a Pair of new LX from the bay complete with hoses, oil and bleed kit for 25 quid!)

I have taken the thumb part off as I dont need it and I like having loads of room around the grips to play with. Have been using with conventional mech fine but I have just torn that off so I am giving a RR a go. (bought one off here..waiting for postie :) )

I use my bike for Commuting as well as playing in the woods and it works well for both. I cant comment on simutanious shifting/braking as I dont really ride that way

What I would say is the lever movement can feel a bit offputting and odd on steeper technical stuff where you are fiddling with the brake and negotiating your way down

    Bugger, they are dancake

No problem though I guess. I since fitted Dual control and found these shimano jobs a pleasure to bleed :) (you might not need to bleed if just swapping over)

    Dancake

Are they set up US style so you need to swap the hoses round?

edit looking at your pic that looks like a front brake I bought from CRC with a LH lever. Was cheap though and worked well! Was £25 ish then
