    I use one of these

its ok..never been flashed with it on. Good for general riding where occasionally there is no light and you want to see the potholes. (For miles and miles of country lane I would use something brighter.)

comes with charger and all that. Clip is a bit crap (I reveted adjustable bit in place)

    about 20 quid

edit sorry for mahoosive pic 😯

Just stick one on flickr and you can link to all the others?

takes 2 secs to copy the bb code and stick it in a post.

    Takes longer to individually email

15 years off bikes since school

After discovering bikes again in 2008 there has been

    GT Agressor (too big)
    Giant NRS(too small)
    Commencal Meta
    456 (I have had 3 of these)
    On-one Scandal 29er
    Kona Caldera
    Kona Blast
    Carrera TDF s road bike

and various swapping of bits and upgrading of the above (including a 69er)

I Only run 1 do-it-all bike now a Genesis Altitude which is ACE. It hasnt had the best components of previous models I have had, but it
does the commute to work, does the local woods, does trail centres, does it all (all I do anyhow)

I have ditched my full Suss as I worked out in the end it was of No advantage to me- I could ride everything on my HT that I rode on the FS so what was the point?

There is room in the shed for one of these though – it is different enough to be interesting.

Ill put my hand up – I dont really stand by my comment. Lots of beer, man flu and a bad back was making me bitter.

If I had the cash, sending my forks/ shock to TFTuned is exactly the kind of thing I would do.

    apologies

never answered my email about a Baseplate. Went to petra cycles for baseplate, uturn spring and knob. They were cheaper anyway

I find it shocking that big companies can supply stuff off the shelf and then you have to send it somewhere else to make it work

..or do you? Jump off the bandwagon. spend your money on your wife . Its all bollocks

    You, sir, are awesome.

Sometimes you get fed up of the “how should I invest my £100,000” or “which of my 9 bikes should I get rid of” or “I have loads of money, **** off you tossers”

I like this though. Great work 🙂

    Terrible news.

i was overtaken by an Artic the other day. The vehicle came up behind me, moved to the inside lane of a roundabout, passed me and made me jump onto the kerb to avoid being caught by his trailer as he moved back off the roundabout.

British Plates, 5.45 AM. Bet the driver didnt have a clue.

I can barely afford the pointless debt-fest that is Christmas without my Energy bill doubling.

Leaving for work in the dark, spending all day away from a window and coming home in the dark is depressing

The dogs get covered in crap all the time

That said, I love sliding my bike around in mud so its all good

edit. Riding across some-beacon-or-other at midnight when it is clear and -5 deg is awesome

    This too

Don’t obsess over sag, it’s just one part of the big picture, and there’s no “correct” setting. Floats do seem to need a fair bit of sag if you want to get near the full travel.

This – I obsessed over it then thought it was the shock holding me back when infact it was me overthinking everything and not just relaxing.

Now I just ensure its regularly getting its full travel and ride under recommended psi.

Just remember if you are in a gnarly mood, you may need to make adjustments 🙂 I broke the air piston shaft on my Recons just this week. The damage was done when I missed a transition and landed my 100KG on the flat with a CRACK. I dont do jumping and my poor little forks were not set up for incompetence 😯

The right sized/ Shaped frame: It seems you cant always make a bike fit by swapping stems and moving the seat.

    😯

Rode Cranham yesterday and the work continues to try and prevent us riding there. In fact it is spreading and the section of single track at the rear of the George in Birdlip has been affected too. The bomb hole near the gate a the far end had a massive log in the bottom, straight across the trail, luckily I saw it on the way up so moved it but would have ridden in blind and once committed to that there would be no way out. I would say this is getting pretty serious, without being dramatic about it that could break a neck or worse! be careful all, particular on night rides.

I dropped into that yesterday without a care in the world. Glad you got there before me! (I was on my way to Lecky at about 2.00PM ish…..broke my forks on the way back 🙁 )

How long has the more “official” sign been up at the end of the wall?

Stripped the forks and found my air spring shaft snapped at the top near the piston 🙁

Bought a U turn spring, baseplate and knob. Hope it fits 🙂

That thread from Bikeradar about the “racer” who wanted a mechanic to help him at events, and proved to be woefully slow and inept?

In one race the organisers had gone home before he finished!

I remember!. “Pit Bitch” ha ha ha

I bid a Road-legal Yamaha 660 Raptor quad up to £5000 a few years ago.

Paid in good faith, but when it turned up it was knackered so I got my money back (eventually) Bought a Triumph Vitesse instead and kept my old quad for a bit. Lessons learnt

I really fancy a night pootle – Start at Stupid oclock and Watch the Sun come up at some-beacon-or-other.

during daylight hours I rarely get more than 2 consecutive hours of bike time so it is usually go out, thrash as many local trails as I can then go home

Im off on a night ride tonight that way, so ill see what the deal is.

NB has all the felling been cleared from the racetrack yet?

    Just want to get better.

Taking one of my fav trails, for example, I can thrash my way down it until right at the bottom where I scrub off all my speed to go AROUND a log drop off. Similar story with other trails. Ruined flow and and your mates are off in the distance. I cant get by on balls (*I have none) so my only chance is technique

In answer to my own question, I am in the “practise” camp. (I can even spell it some days).

I believe everything I read and it does have a positive effect. Did a bit of skills training recently too. Right now, I am forcing heels and wrists down and trying to make it natural. On the way to work every day, up down kerbs, down sets of steps etc etc even if I cant get a proper session in at the woods. I have even stuck my brake levers up unnaturally flat to try and force my wrists down while braking.

I was interested because I have riding Mates (who are very good) who never read the manual, never go on the skills course and wouldnt dream of spending a morning on one technique!

Off to standish woods tomorrow. There is loads in a tiny area and my wife has stolen my free time. Bless her

What does “fast enough” mean? When I ride, it’s not a race. YMMV

course it is. I want to be faster than everyone. I am clearly not, but it doesnt stop me trying.

if you’d just switch your lights off for long enough you’d be able to see it clearly even if you had stretch armstrong arms

Tried that (had no choice due to a u/s light) Where the hell are you riding? I could just see enough to pick my way through the woods at about 2mph.

The deer are up to something. My wife and I were chatting about that vid on the way to the FOD Sunday and one jumped out in front of us. Thankfully it changed it’s mind before putting a new dent in the car

    (near the jumpy jump area)

to be fair there is a “beware of the deer” sign nearby

You need an SVA test and it needs to be registered etc etc etc.

I used to ride a road legal quad. Ace fun

Cannock! Sort that trail! I demand to ride smooth trails for free! I have a 120mm XC bike! People who go fast enough to use their brakes are idiots! Ban them! Ban them!

Poor fella probably thought he was getting abducted or something seeing me hurtling towards him with all lights blazing.

I have ofter thought what it must be like from the other side. A lot of people dont realise some people go out at midnight on their bikes for fun Imagine never hearing of STW, or DX lights etc etc and having three piercing lights come flying towards you in the middle of the night.

We turned a corner one morning, about 1.00AM and almost flattened a girl on her mobile phone. There was a campsite nearby.

When I went to bleed mine, I had to flush the hose out before I could transfer fluid between Syringes.

Loads of crap came out and then they bled fine. Make sure you have fluid present at the nipple before putting plug back in at the end of the bleed. (and make sure pistons are fully retracted)
