@somafunk your link is amazing!! Thank you for sharing.

Essential mix been a lifeline for me especially throughout the 90’s.

Anything Sasha really for me and the oakie Gia mix, but standout for me is the Greg Wilson mix 🎧 Off to listen to many more. Old school all the way ❤️

Wow.. great idea and good excuse to look back at the years rides. Not sure I can match the stories above though. Brilliant 👍

    Will have a think.

Yeah good shout this. Mine got delivered yesterday. Currently on a 11-42 so may need a longer b screw. Will give it a go 👍 For a tenner worth a punt.

Thanks Cy and I’m sorry now for starting this thread really. Think though it also demonstrates that the Cotic family is still strong and will support you for the future.

My Solarismax like I said at the start is my go to bike but the Flare max full suss sits right behind it!

Hope to catch up with you guys again for a ride next year 👍

    @kelvin

It’s the Champagne 2017 Version with a few Mucky nutz protection stickers on. First Solarismax version but not longshot I believe. 👍

Like I said at the start would recommend to anyone for the same style of riding as me. 👍

Loving my Solaris with 2.6 at each end. Been out on it for the last few months and so capable.
Bird Blank Rigid fork equivalent to a 130mm suss fork.
Loads of clearance and with a 2.6 tyre feels quite flexible. Definitely recommend 👍

Sasha back in the day was an inspiration. So many classic tunes here as well.

Another favourite for me is Greg Wilson. First class remixes and mixes with a house/disco feel

Just to say the “Feel the Love” piece at the end Hannah is first class and rings so very true.
    Worth the subscription alone. 👍🙌

Why not! I have missed the magazine’s to be honest and the photos. Bring on another year. 👍

I think this new variant means most folks are going to get it now, it’s going to be near impossible to avoid given it seems you can get it through fleeting contact. For the first time I’m hearing of close friends and neighbours who are getting it, after avoiding it for past 18 months. Certainly feels like delta is far more infectious than the original strain than the x2.4

Agree 100%. Me and wife and 2kids all tested positive at the weekend and been knocked out unable to move for 2 days after a year of avoiding it all we can.
With just 1 jab in us thinking we may have got off lightly but still feel very weak.
Missing the biking and fresh air immensely though. Anyone any advice on timeline for getting back on the trails?

May try and venture down this Sunday. Would be a year since my last visit. My usual route used to end with a Dr Johns finish into Parked. Anyone know if that rides ok now. Had quite a few trees cut last time. 👍

Early days for me including first creamfields, Winchester 98? Global Gathering in Luton 97?
One Love parties Bristol & Swindon. Uni days at Southampton on the Manage et trois Boat Parties. They were good!!
More recently as I’m getting old now – Sasha At the Barbican and again at the Roundhouse few years back. The good old days 🎧👍

Cheers all. Glad you like it. Getting too old for some of the banging dance music but this has some cool breaks in it and feel young again 👍
His Come Together track also has some relevance in today’s world ❤️

Yes some good sets so far. Greg Wilson now which is a favourite of mine 👍🎧
Not sure I will be make it through the night though 😂

We do a ride twice a week out of Witney. (Look us up on Facebook) Some good bridalways and paths around Stonesfield and Charlbury. Also out near winchcombe they do Hell of the North each year which is good. Can’t beat the Forest of Dean though which is just over an hour away.

Used to love listening back to these. The ones from the 90`s always brings back special memories. Agree on the Goa ones. Magical memories of traveling through India and Nepal listening to this.

Also a favorite is Chris and James 94 i think.

    Yes finally :)
Have had mine 2 years now and has had more use than my full suss! Set up for winter use with 29″ and 2.2 Forekastors. Mile crunching..
Summer use with 2.6 27+ Awesome round the FOD
Defiantly recommended. Toying with the idea of trading in my Whyte Full suss for a Flaremax to use the same wheels. Anyone else done the same?

Brilliant stuff! Well done for organising again. Will try and download the route this time and not get lost 😂

Yes pretty flat round these parts!! Join up with our club as above. Do weekly rides and the odd monthly trip out. Few rides out to the Chilterns actually and the forest of Dean. I’m in Aston so be happy showing you a few trails.

There are a few road cycling groups as well if that takes your fancy. Micky Cranks is one I can think of.

No the feeling at the moment. Another book recommendation “Solve for Happy” by Mo Gawdat.
First time out on the bike today after a 2 week gap certainly helped. Stress at work certainly doesn’t!!

Loving mine on the 29ners in the winter. Have a set of 2.8 chubby Nobby NICs also but found them very slow. Good in the woods on dry trails but that’s about it.
Anyone tried a set of 27.5 2.6s tyres. Have a set of Wtb so interested to see how they fair.

Yes cheers guys. Thanks for organising Martin and all at the cafe. Will definitely try and venture down to those parts again.
Thanks also to those who helped guide me round. Garmin failed a few times and lost the way at the end. Very enjoyable though 👍

Was up there last week. Dowie’s running well. Anyone know what the hells happened to Dr John’s. First section completely wrecked by forestry work. Hope it gets back to how it was at some point. 2nd section has a nice Xmas surprise though. 🎄

Cheers guys – I knew I couldn’t be the only MTB fanatic with a taste in good music!!

Must point out I don’t get my headphones on too often when on my bike. Although does add a sense of inspiration to get out. Also started running a little for the first time and that does need a good set of tunes.

Last gig for me was Sasha Refracted at the roundhouse and after his Barbican gig too it has something for everyone. Especially those of my age.

Interested to see how you get on here Mikey! Looking at the Garmin myself as maybe better for fitness measures. £229 from Decathlon there is also the Huawai sport 2 but quite like the idea of the Garmin app and upload to Strava.

    Great stuff. Cheers guys.
Like the look of the external dropper post! To me that’s the biggest downfall with the new frame. Internal and then running up the downtube. Looks a little untidy. I’m sure there’s good reason.
Can you get a rubber grommet that plugs the hole?

Plus tyres also look good. Do they roll ok on the road to. Few miles for me to the nearest bridalway

Interested to get some real life reviews and ideal spec builds if poss as Xmas has come early for me and have a new max frame to build up.

Ideal tyre specs in both formats and also seat post recommendations. Not had a dropper on a hardtail and wondered how capable they were. Here’s hoping for some nice pictures. Budget quite tight but time on my side. Don’t really want to get it dirty!

Have been brought for Xmas ‘One man and his bike’ by Mike Carter. Really good and quite funny book that is making me really want to see more of our island. Maybe even on a bike one day when the kids are older. Would highly recommend.

Thanks Guys. Decided what the hell I would go out. Brilliant to have the feedback and nice to know I’m not the only one. Agree about the sleeping but as it’s Friday tomorrow no one at work will be bothered. That’s why Thursdays for me are the best night. Nice night for it as well down here. Hope to continue. My new exposure joystick helps too. Awesome little backup light for the helmet.

Winter set up on my first build project. Loving it although getting back on a hard tail after a summer of full suss use does feel harsh. But the soul is quite forgiving. Loving it :)

Brought the frame off eBay few months back. Mk1 I think. Resprayed at Bob Jackson. Really pleased with it. Cheers for bar and stem advice will give it a try.

Have just discovered this thread and hope someone can help in my first bike build. 1ride old and may need upgrading when budget allows. General opinion on stem and bar size. These could be the first options. Currently have Easton EA50 110mm ?? Stem (too long maybe) and 680mm bars to match ( too short)
Seat post maybe another option as too would the forks but can’t stretch that far yet.
Excuse the rear guard and skinny XR muds. Preparing for winter. Can’t wait :-)

Took a trip to local chiropractor for free assement. Sounds like it is sciatica and obviously recommended their treatment. This I don’t mind as I am prepared to give anything a go. But they said to lay of the mountain bike which is a big blow. Cycling on road may be ok but that’s not me. Meant to be off to Afan next week as well.

Will try the wheat bags as well and keep with the strecting exercises. How long does it last?

Stretching and maybe a psysio then. But keep to the biking within moderation. I will try.
