but it does raise the question as to whether relationships can only be monogomous

I know a few people who are in long term polyamerous relationships and seem on the outside happy and contented in their “families” so I don’t consider monogamy to be the only successful way to have a relationship. (Interestingly both “families” could be described as matriarchal, one 1F/2M and the other 2F/1M)

The human mind is capable of some great things, so why shouldn’t it be able to love more than one person equally and maintain a successful relationship?

Monogamy being in a relationship is hard
    ….

    Fixed that for you.

Being in any relationship is hard work, whether it’s with one person, or multiple. You have to find someone you trust, and who trusts you to be honest with them. It’s all about communication, finding compromise and being totally honest about how you feel.

People often say that they are monogamous because they can only truly love one person. If you have multiple children/pets/bikes, are you only capable of loving one of them?

Cheers all, I’ll give him one last chance to get it sorted, and then shop him.

He’s not boasted about it, I noticed his tax was running out and suggested he should get it sorted (trying to be helpful in case he’d not noticed, he is dopey like that) he then told me he couldn’t because his MOT had run out as had his insurance. This was about a week ago, and I’ve been trying to get him to do something, and getting more concerned that he’s not been doing anything.

Cheers all, he’s a pretty good mate/work colleague.

Whenever I try to bring it up, I get told it’s none of my business.

I got a flow set and haven’t had any problems. Both wheels are still true after a few hundred miles and some pretty embarrassing riding/crashing.

Slight hijack, but every so often my revelation u turns suck “in” a bit.

When I initially set them up, they’ll sit at say 150, and after a number of rides (say 10-15) I notice that they sit at about 140, but I can pull the cross brace down to get the full 150, but after the next compression they’re back to reading 140.

When I empty both air chambers, and start again, they behave correctly for a while.

    Any ideas?

I’ve recently got a pair of fox launch pro knee pads. They seem pretty comfy and well built.

I’ve not had an unplanned dismount yet though, so can’t vouch for their protective abilities.

You might find growing your own veg to be quite expensive (once you factor in tools, fertilizer, seeds etc.)

Cook in bulk, freeze and re-head as required.
Meat is expensive, so think of vegetarian options.
Go to the supermarket late at night and look for the stuff they’re selling cheap that’s on it’s best before date.

I hadn’t noticed the sound. I keep my computer on mute at work until I need sound for something…. Saves me getting in trouble.

But… it’s all the same stuff

I think (and could be wrong) that memory foam comes in a variety of different densities which affect how quickly it conforms to your body, how quickly it springs back to its original shape, and how firm it is overall.

I had similar problems in New Mills.

I ended up checking Rightmove every day and ringing up the agents on a daily basis. I got to the stage where I was ready to take anything remotely suitable without seeing it. I was lucky and got the first viewing of the place I’m in now and said I’d take it before I’d seen the upstairs!

Anti-depressants helped get me to a point where I was capable of doing things that would sort my head out like eating properly and doing exercise.

It takes a while for them to kick in, and possibly longer if the first ones you try don’t suit you (it took me 3 attempts at 6 weeks a go).

Good luck, and take care of yourself.

The K18 and K24 levers are essentially the same (the K24 has a reach adjust dial thingamy but the housing is the same)

I’ve got SLX shifters to kind of work with the K series levers, but I needed to take the indicator window off.

dried mealworms would probably be a good place to start.
Yep though you may need to rehydrate them in some water first.

Whilst appreciating that they aren’t birds, my spiny mice wont touch rehydrated mealworms, but will go nuts over live or the dried versions. They are a bit weird though 🙂

    From the RSPB website:

What should I do with a baby bird that has been abandoned by its parents?
Probably nothing. A young bird alone on the ground has not necessarily been abandoned. The young of many birds will fledge after they grow feathers, but before they are able to fly.

They spend a day or two on the ground before their feather development is complete. It is really best not to interfere. The parents will be close by and come to feed the bird as soon as it is safe.

If the bird is in a vulnerable position it will do no harm to move it into shelter but not too far away as the parents will then be unable to find it. Touching a bird will not make the parents abandon it.

Watch carefully – if the parents don’t return and the youngster has definitely been abandoned then please email Wildlife Enquiries using the address on this page for further advice.

Not sure what you could feed it in, bird seed and dried mealworms would probably be a good place to start.

CRC do cable kits either single (x8) or triple (x3) but I don’t know anywhere selling them individually.

You could try contacting Brant directly?

The moment you step on to that train without a ticket, you’re committing a fine-able offence

So what are you supposed to do at the hundreds of stations around the country that don’t have ticketing facilities? Not get on a train?

    dan1980

Why do they sell tickets on trains then?

Also some stations don’t have a manned ticket booth, or a ticket machine, so there’s no way to actually buy a ticket before boarding.

Had some officious guard try to do me for fair dodging, it took him a while to back down even when I pointed out the station bloke had gone home and there wasn’t a machine to use.

I do most of my biking around New Mills in the Peak district, the area isn’t particularly flat.

I do tend to keep my grumpyness to myself on the internet. That doesn’t stop me being an arse when the mood takes me though. I do generally feel bad afterwards though and think about peace, love and all that jazz to to my fellow man.

Since the definition of a mountain in the UK is any land over 600m then what you’d say is irrelevant..

Just so I know, and so that I can avoid it happening to me in the future, what crawled up your arse and made you decide to be unpleasant this evening?

I didn’t say anything about stating a standard definition, was giving my opinion, to which I’m entitled to, regardless of how wrong you may think it is. Fundamentally this is an irreverent thread, so why take it so seriously and come across as being unpleasant? Does it make you feel all big and important? Does it give you a little buzz inside. Are you trying to make up for your own inadequacies and feel you should be unpleasant to people who don’t hold your view of the world?

Perhaps you didn’t sleep much last night and are grumpy, perhaps you’ve had a bad day at work. When I’m grumpy I go out on my bike and I ride for a while around bridleways near where I live. Sometimes I go and look at the ducks at the local park with their funny walks. Occasionally I’ll go and treat myself to something nice from the local deli, or buy myself something new. Every so often, when I’m feeling particularly cross with the world, I’ll let my pet mice run around my lounge and I’ll watch their funny antics. Maybe I’d even put my favorite music on, on my mp3 player and listen to it for a while whilst doing a crossword or a sodoku puzzle.

What I don’t do, is come and take my grump out on random people I don’t know on the internet. So please, if you’re in a mood don’t post things that come across as nasty to people. It’s just not nice, and the world would be a much friendlier place if we could all just get along.

If you’re not in a mood, and just being an arse, the same things about being friendly to people still applies.

    Thanks
    🙂

I have Oros, and bled them with an Avid kit.

Formula do a generic kit for all their brakes, so I’d say you’d be ok with a Avid one. I just bought a new one with dot fluid for £12 off Ebay.

I don’t know what you consider violent, but the only way to get rid is….

Seriously, you can get copper tape that gives them a static shock that might discourage them.

The crime is the same, so why should the punishment differ?

Because if you look at the fine in terms of a percentage of income, then for a poorer person, then the impact is greater, so it’s a harsher penalty for them.

I replaced a deore HTII with a new superstar one in shiny red after the shimano gave up after 6 months of finest peak grit (Full on lockup!). My thoughts so far:

Seemed good quality out the box, but anodising not up to much (some came off just giving the caps a tighten into the frame)
It felt a comparable weight to the deore one I removed, but I didn’t weigh it.
Better sealing between plastic tube and bearings than deore version it replaced.
Cranks seem to run very smoothly in it (better than deore).
Changing the bearings looks to be a doddle, but will need some kind of press to make sure they go in straight.
It’s latested several rides so far 😉

For the price I’m happy, and if I get 6 months out of the bearings, at least I can change them easily enough and start again.

They can find out who I’ve voted for as they know that a voting slip (serial number 1234567890) for the local election was given to voter number 1234 which corresponds to Mr Dan1980 of An address in Manchester.

I’m not bothered in the slightest, but I was under the impression that no-one was supposed to know who I voted for.

The thing I don’t get is that these people are complaining about the cost of fuel, yet are planning on a driving based protest that will utilize fuel, which they’ll then have to buy anyway to get home, after having shunted the price up a bit by blockading the refinery….

It doesn’t seem the most sensible thing to do.

dan – st johns wort is an ssri

I was under the impression that it works like an SSRI but because it has a broader scope for inhibition of other neurotransmitters, wasn’t classed as an SSRI

    dan1980
    Free Member

Making sure you have a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veg should help.

If you want to take something thenSt Johns wort is supposed to be good for some people

It isn’t “basically the same as prozac” as the medical profession aren’t entirely sure how it works. Anti-depressants affect the neurotransmitter chemistry in the brain, and different drugs work on different neurotransmitters. Prozac is a SSRI type anti-depressant There are also many others which will work differently. Some people may respond badly to SSRIs, but not to one of the others.

If you have gotten to the stage where you think you might need some kind of medication to help lift the mood, whether it’s “natural” or a drug based therapy, then seriously consider going to see a Dr just to talk through your options, and possibly get a referral to some cognitive behavioral therapy.

I’ve seen things posted things about CO2 and sealent.

Unless I did it wrong, I put the tire on the wheel, used CO2 to get the bead onto the rim, then removed the valve core to add the sealent.

I don’t see why you’d have sealent in the tire before it’s on the rim….

    dan1980

I failed with a track pump recently, and someone from here suggested a CO2 canister thingamy[/url].

Worked a treat, if you press down the tire over the valve core, and then empty the can into the valve it pops the bead into the rim.
