I’ve had a Dualit 3in1 machine for a few months now. I think its similar to the expressivo.

I got a box of the dualit pods from Costco and they’re average. I use them when I’m in a rush. Otherwise I use freshly ground coffee, which produces better results.

As said above, the reservoir doesnt hold much water so you have to refill a fair bit. Plus my portafilter seems to leak, so may need to return it.

I’ve had a gen 7 T Sport for a couple years. Nice to drive and fast enough but I wouldnt say it was really fun. Quite a practical car for bikes actually! They go in the boot with the seats down and one wheel off very easily.

Thou not as light, I seem to use my Big Agnes Seedhouse SL1 more than my Laser Comp.

If you do choose a laser comp, I actually have a 2nd one for sale. Bought a year ago but never opened, so brand new.

Red Shifters arrived in about 1 week. Picked them up from Parcelforce on Saturday as I had to pay £20 VAT (they declared the package as $50 i think).

Look legit, are the correct weight, come with all the cables etc, just without a retail box. About £260 all in (vs £390 at wiggle). Gonna fit them tonight!

I like the box better than the shoes with mine…

    Good luck!!

Having met a few LELers on a 600k audax a few weeks ago, I really wish I’d entered now. Sounds like it will be amazing. 2000 riders!

Previously I’ve always bought cheap £15 BBB frames, then got them glazed with Optilabs transition lenses (£90).

Then splashed out on Split Jackets with Oakley lenses (£240 all in 3 years ago), and I have to say there was a noted difference in clarity. Expensive but I’ve used them alot, I’m blind without them and they protect my eyes… So not too bad in bike part value terms (compared to other bike things ive bought!)

I’m guessing you need this service: http://www.andrewcareopticians.co.uk/lens-to-own-frame.ghtml

Yes, I have prescription Split Jackets. Bought them from http://www.andrewcareopticians.co.uk/ about 3 years ago. Been great! I went for the Clear to Black Iridium Transitions.

Couldn’t resist (and my 6 year old Force ones are mullered). Ordered some 2013 Red Shifters last night! Already got a dispatch email.

I bought a KMC x10 sl from taiwan a couple of months ago. Was £26, came in a week, no duty, correct weight. Bargain.

Currently looking at some 2013 SRAM Red Shifters for £240. A lot cheaper than the 390 they are here. Thou more risk of duty on a higher valued item like this.

Farsports (wheelsfar) seem to get good reviews on the thread on weightweenies.com. Very tempted by a pair of the 38mm Clinchers at 1250g.

Audax (fast)/Winter bike: FM028 chinese carbon, rival/force, A23/SP Dynamo hub wheelset, custom carbon stayed mudguards. Love it because it was cheap, its unique and I did LEJOG on it.

Audax (slow)/Touring: Salsa Casseroll 2012 frameset, Ultregra triple. Love it because it looks old skool.

Sunday best: Scott CR1 SL frameset, Sram Red/Force, Soul S3.0 wheels, Cobalt 11 seatpost, Kalloy Uno stem, 3T carbon bars. Love it because its light and fast! 14.3lbs.

Actually, no you don’t. The clamp won’t let you slide it round the bends. You install it over the first bend (or wherever the diameter of your bard drop), so only needs the tape unwinding off that far. That’s the only way they’ll go in.

Ah right. Is that past the shifters?

Cafe’s a bit shit mind, it’s got worse since I first did the ride.

Agreed. I had to literally force the beans down last year as needed the energy for the ride home.

Supposedly there’s a pub near by that does breakfast now.

    damitamit

Only problem with them is you have to take everything off your bars to install them, as the clamp is only 1/3 of the bar diameter.

That’s why I went with the Kalloy (plus it was cheaper). Took the crazy 6 paint off with acetone.

I’ve done it a few times. The first a few years back I managed to get the train from the nearest station but it had been pissing it down all night so there weren’t many people left (once 30 of us piled on the train, the conductor kinda just gave up and let it happen).

Never got the coach back. Seem’s too long a wait and too much hassle. Better to ride an extra 40 miles to Ipswich and get the train (with a little cap nap on the way on a nice piece of grass!).

Last year just rode back. No trains to faff with :) http://www.gregarios.co.uk/cycling-clubs/blog-cycling-news_/Entries/2012/6/30_The_story_of_a_Double_D_Dynamo.html

If you want some Fizik R1s 43 I will be selling mine shortly (also have some Spesh Pros 44 too).

And i’ve got a good friend’s pre wedding party this evening. Shaping up to be a good day!

An audax bike would typically have longer chain stays and headtube, but also space for full guards and rack fittings. Saying that you see all sorts audax events.

The difference between my road bikes and audax bikes is just the saddle to bar drop. They all have the same horizontal top tube.

    My “audax” bike is this:

But did a 600k on this (with a carradice on the back) the other week and didnt die:

    Thanks for the replies!

The vendor has said they’ll pay for it all. Thou this does make a little nervous as they are so willing.

konagirl, good point about the cost of decorating.

The place and price is ok to good, but not great. It’s more the case of not much has been coming up for sale in the area so don’t what to let it go if not entirely necessary.

Surely they wouldnt be able to brute force it on paypal, as they’re restrict access after a certain number of failed attempts.

I’ve had a Torm ss jersey for a year now, used 3-4 times a week commuting. Good fit, good price and less smelly. :)

Nice build vortex! I’m not usually a fan of white tape, but these frames seem to suit it.

Are the Race24s all black? Will look great when you get those.

Yeh, I read that too but I dont think they’ll be a problem. You can adjust the centering with the spring screw on one side. But if that isnt enough (it wasnt in my case on the back), you can adjust the whole caliper by loosening the allen screw on the black bit of the bolt and turning it with a spanner.

what do you think of the planet X brakes damitamit?

I was skeptical, but used them today and they seem fine. Not as powerful as Sram Force I had before but good enough. I’ve put Swiss Stop green on mine. They’re lighter than quoted too.

Took it out on its first ride today, a 70 mile club run.

Tbh, I didnt think it would ride much different to the frame it replaced (an Isaac Impulse), but it definitely is! Felt a lot smoother over rough tarmac roads and the front end is stiffer too.

So all in all very happy! People who’ve bought an SL, you’re in for a treat :)

    Finished the build.
