@trailrat, good point. But I think they’ve misnamed it Partner Combi on the simplymats site. Or they don’t sell any boot mats for the Tepee.

I’ve emailed SimplyCarMats about Partner mats. Will see what they say…

I’m pretty sure you can get Gravelking SKs in 26″.

You could even go M1, A41 all the way into swiss cottage or even regents park. Pay&Display at regents park outer circle for an hour and ride in from there.

Alternatively, if you come to Hornsey I can give you a visitors parking permit for an hour/two and you can ride in from there.

Will suggest some waypoints later if you’re going gravel.

That would be great. Defo taking the gravel bikes!

Just found this thread. GF’s parents live in Hampshire, very near five ways. Did a gravel route down there a month ago and was ace :) Great to get straight out onto bridleways/byways (compared to london) and so many of them!

Going down again soon. Any recommendations for good routes in the area? up to 100km.

Also thinking we could possible ride over to Swinley (or drive). What are trails like there on gravel bikes? (mtb’s are out of action atm)

Superstar Elements 650b can be had for £140 with code Road50…

    https://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/element-roadlite-v6-wheelset-uk-made-hubs.htm

I’ve had them on the gravel bike for a couple of months now and have been spot on. If only they didnt have laser etched rim logos, i’d instantly buy another set for a commuter build…

@jameso, do you know if the 2019 frames will have di2 compatibility?

    Nice!

Do you know if its di2 compatible?

I know I asked before about di2, but the one thing I cant figure out is… Would i be able to feed the front mech wire out the bottom of the BB hole and up the seattube to the mech?

Also, is there an internal path to the rear mech? i.e inside the chainstay

If you have Amazon prime, I believe a photo storage service is included in the costs…

That’s what i thought. Installed the app, set it to sync and watched it delete 3 months of photos. Amazon tech support were having none of it either. Crazy.

I’d like to think i’m not a computer numpty and did something wrong either. I write software for a living!

I was in Granada a couple of weeks ago. I used strava and googled a bit to find the famous climbs/rides to to. My strava is private so can’t link the routes but can pull them out later (or you can follow me…) https://www.strava.com/athletes/158239

I wouldve thought you should stay with the same system so you can reuse lenses?

    But if not… there’s a gx80 on avforums:

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/panasonic-gx80-body.2121344/

    or a Oly EM10

    https://www.avforums.com/threads/olympus-omd-em10-mk-1-black-body-only.2121537/

I’ve got a EM10 mark II and it works great with a pany 25mm prime. The mark III has just been released so there may be deals around on the mark II.

Last time I rode to Amsterdam (a few years back) I just got the train to Schipol and bought a huge bike (carboard) box for 20 quid from the lower ground floor in the airport and stuck the bike in. It was included in the luggage on the BA/KLM flight i got to London City Airport.

When i arrived in london, i just ditched the box and rode home.

Very odd website. I got the Reynolds Aero 46 when the link was first posted for £820. They were delivered within a couple of days. Thou last week, the price went up to £1400 and now is back down to ~£1200.

It’s a fun ride, I’ve done it about 6 times i think. Rode back a couple of times.

Did a little write up once on our club page: http://www.gregarios.co.uk/cycling-clubs/blog-cycling-news_/Entries/2012/6/30_The_story_of_a_Double_D_Dynamo.html

The cafe on the beach is pretty shit, but the pub just before the beach turn off now does brekkie and a pint which is better.

I always have a pair in my commuting pannier (they roll up tiny).

Great when you’re commuting in normal trousers and can’t be arriving to work in wet trousers that you’ll have to sit in all day. I used them a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at how dry my trousers were (also have full length mudguards).

I got my Aivee hub serviced at a popular wheelbuilder yesterday. He had one of those puller jobbies (just one of ebay) and i was amazed at how easy it made it! Versus me usually struggling with a screwdriver and hammer.

I say go for it! Seems like a tool that’s actually worthwhile. I think I’m gonna get this one (once i’ve checked the sizes)… http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5pc-Inner-Bearing-Puller-Tool-Set-Blind-Hole-Tool-Slide-Hammer-Kit-Pilot-Needle/282044010302?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D40800%26meid%3Deb62bba679744c2ab7a5beac2a7fbfb5%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D262062691773

Just received a Victorinox fibrox chef knife from Amazon based on the comments here. The tip of the knife isn’t a perfect point but it doesn’t look like its been chipped. Is that right?

My take on an audax bike. Key points are guards (thou it’s missing flaps in that photo), dynamo lights and reliable wheels. (oh and its got a triple).

Tbh, I reckon my carbon bikes would be more comfy…

I’ve built about 9 wheels using the Tacx folding truing stand (like that minoura one). I clamp it to a ikea stool and it does the job. It’s not amazing (it’s too flexible as you say) but it works well enough.

That minoura dishing gauge is rubbish and I actually much prefer the cardboard (and bent spoke) one I made using the instructions in the Roger Musson book.

Look for a 2nd hand Aeron on ebay, collect only. I got one in great condition (with burgundy mesh which I actually think looks pretty smart) for £160.

I grew up in Edgware… Go somewhere else ;)

I haven’t lived there for ages but go back every so often and the highstreet is always changing. They’re used to be a good iranian restaurant but that shut down. Thai Edge is alright.

Hmmmm, if your into indian food one of the best places in north london is Regency a couple miles away in Queensbury. The starters and lamb chops are amazing. Or there’s Zanzibar which is actually in Edgware.

There’s no ale pubs I can think of! In fact, there are no good pubs in Edgware.

I agree with Bez. My dynamo powered B&M Cyo has been fine for loads of fast unlit road riding. Descending fast with it is fine. I’ve even gone over hardknott in the dark and pissin rain with it.

Are you actually going to use a rack? If not (I’ve never used a rack on my audax bike) then what about some disc equipped carbon! It’ll have enough clearance and mudguard eyes aren’t really needed to fit full guards.

Or 2nd hand Ti. I picked up my Kinesis GF Ti frame for £550.

When I lived in Nottingham, some kids (we think) broke into our house. Took my housemates laptop whose room was on the first floor, then mustve have gone upstairs to my room, ignored my 200 quid headphones and 600 quid (small and easy to carry) cd player and nicked the walkers multipack that was lying on the floor. I guess they must’ve been hungry? It was a big 24 bag one.
