It was friggin freezing! (end of feb) but worth it. Pics here: http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/damitamit/LondonToAmsterdam#

Or if you want to go down the geeky route…

Get an old pc (pretty much anything will do), bung a few HDs in it and install Freenas (www.freenas.org).

Ride there :) I did last week. Was frickin freezing, but the North Sea Cycle route from hook of holland to near amsterdam is pretty amazing.

I rode London to Harwich and then the over night ferry to hook of holland. Then 60 miles up the LF1b and LF20 cycle routes.

Oh yeh, dam. Err theres there Anne Frank house and the Van Gogh musuem. Oh and the Heineken Experience is actually supposed to be quite good but i missed it as I was too stoned :(

My parents did this to me when I was in primary school and I turned out alright! Its only 2 weeks and its only primary school.

I learnt much more going to California for 2 weeks than at school ;) Plus my teacher made me write a report (with photos) of it so I could gloat to the other kids when i got back…

Even if you don't normally drive like this, surely a test drive should the one time you really rag the car (once its warm ofcourse) and if they don't let you they must have something to hide ?

When I asked the distributor many months ago, they said they couldnt get the Casseroll Single full bike.

Ended up buying the frame and building a SS…

Currently built up with a Shimano Alfine. Much better for commuting, plus was able to ride to Paris on it and took it on the sunday club run yesterday.

I recently needed a Alfine hub built onto a open pro rim I had. Both new.

Asked a few shops in london and prices seemed high. Ended up using Evans. £35 including Sapim Race spokes. Everywhere else used 85p per spoke DT Swiss Comps. Sapim race seem like the equivalent.

This is my 2nd road wheel from Evans (Hendon and Chalk Farm). The first I've used for around 1000 miles now and is fine. This new one I've used for 150miles and seems fine.

Not cheap, but the Garmin Dakota range is quite easy to use. All touchscreen based and can have maps on it.

I just got the Dakota 20 and put the free OSM maps on it (http://sites.google.com/site/talkytoasteruk/ukmaps). Haven't used it properly yet, but the maps seem decent…

Contrary to all I said above, I've ordered a Gore Oxygen (http://www.evanscycles.com/products/gore-bike-wear/oxygen-iii-paclite-jacket-ec011170?query=oxygen) in the sale.

Can always return to an Evans store if its not right and then get the Wickham.

Rode in this morning on this:

Alfine geared hub and mudguards are the winter bits…

Its raining today, but quite warm so bib shorts, knee warmers and overshoes. In winter is will be thermal bib tights and Shimano MW-02s.

Chatsworth, would be interested in a link to the free maps you are using. Planning on getting a Dakota 20, but am dubious of how good the garmin TOPO maps are.

I've been looking at getting the Garmin Dakota 20. Looks pretty sweet plus my HR and Cadence units from my old Edge will work with it…
