The shimano straight fittings in mine were different to the normal Shimano Olive/Insert. It was in one piece. Seems to work ok…

Hitman, if you’re getting that Filco, the other option with Cherry MX Blue switches is the Cherry G80. http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_details.asp?PRODUCT=510

I believe the Das Keyboard is based on the Cherry G80. That’s the one I’m thinking of buying.

Didnt know you could get Marathon 25s?

I’ve got some Marathon Racer 30s on my touring bike. They’re quite slow. Thou for commuting I use Stelvio 28s, which I think are now sold as Duranos.

I got a couple. Thou these so called ‘messenger’ bags don’t even have a stabilizing waist strap. hmmm.

Unless you intend on ‘walting’ as a courier, why would you care?

    [/quote]

Because I’ll use the messenger bag on my bike surely?!

I asked the same a few weeks ago: http://www.singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/compact-vs-triple-for-touringcommuting-bike

Went for a triple in the end. Thou that was for loaded touring and still wasnt enough with a 12-25 in Scotland. I understand now why people use MTB groupsets on tourers!

Whoa….. Not surprised they’ve needed a bit of TLC in that time, esp touring with 28-hole wheels

I hadnt actually realised they were 28-hole until you just said that…

Could you tell me how you’re finding the vaude panniers

    Ta

    Plum

Actually, I sent them back last week and got a refund!

I didn’t like the mounting system on them. It has a lot of vertical play so the panniers move up and down over bumps. I had some water leakage inside (not sure if this was from the fabric or the drawstring. Scotland was very wet!). And finally one of the drawstrings was already fraying after a week’s use (not what you want if you’re buying with the expectation to use them for ~5 years).

Going to be getting a set of Ortlieb Back Roller Plus’s instead.

    haha, they’re awesome!

Hubs are still perfect. Had the rear rebuilt once as kept snapping spokes. They’ve been used on a few different bikes, geared and SSed! :)

Edit: I just checked. Feb 2006!

I haven’t bought the car yet!

I have a Saris Bones, but always find putting racks on each time is hassle.

I had english brakes with ProCycleHire.

Oh and take your own water bottles as they charge a fiver!

I went road riding for a couple of days in the north (Pollensa) before heading by bus to shagaluf for a stag weekend.

Hired a road bike from ProCycleHire. Bit expensive but the service was very good and the bike decent. Thou i only realised on the 2nd day in at the top of a 45min climb that they had given me a standard chainset instead of the compact I’d asked for (not a big deal, it just made me stronger!).

The road riding is great there! Just buy a map from the shop and follow one of the routes.

The car for sale is actually in my father's name, if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the comments all. The ultegra was miss priced, so it would actually be new 105 5700 vs Rival.

Looks like I'm gonna go for a triple…

I've used a Pendle 4 bike one for the last couple years. It's a bit industrial, but works great!
(No longer got a tow bar equipped car, so its needs to go (cheap) if you're per chance near London)

I'd be pretty interested if it was for the right kind of mounting… (and I'm near London).

    Email me…

If its for the road, just get a small saddle bag for the spare tubes/tools. Frame mount the pump. And put your waterproof/phone in your jersey pocket.

    It's the roadie way…
