    That was very helpful Jpcapel!

Car is a 15 year old FTO, so not too fussed about OE parts. Plus it seems like bodywork damage. More concerned with their garage doing a crap paint job!

Don’t use the car much, so not too fussed about hire car.

Will stick with the TP insurer…

4th time I’ve done it and it was as good as usual (thou definitely better than the time it rained for 8 hours straight). 2 of us went together which resulted in a faff-free ride all the way to Dunwich. Weather held out all night, no rain. The house in the last 30 miles selling bacon butties and with a chill out tent was awesome, a real godsend! 170 miles in total with 10 mins sleep (on a grass verge on the way to Ipswich station on sunday morning).

I was wearing a Gregarios (www.gregarios.co.uk) club jersey, if anyone saw me.

As this is STW, here is the steed that got me there.

Interesting idea. I’ve stopped using my Tesco bag too.

How about down Booties! for when its a bit too chilly for you sky high 600. Should be relatively simple to sew?

whyter, that’s exactly the same problem I have.

resisted, what would this lead to? I cant see any leaking oil

Gonna try the XTR calipers with old XT levers tonight.

Put on my old XT caliper yesterday. Seemed to work. Went back the next evening and its the same again.

Now I’m not sure what is it!

Tempted to ditch the dual control and get a cheap set of SLX discs from merlin. (in time for mayhem)

Yep, bled it. Lever has good feel.

If I were to buy a new caliper (last resort), will a XT one work with the XTR levers?

For RX oakleys, I can recommend http://www.andrewcareopticians.co.uk/. They dude there is a cyclist and they have 20% off the list price for oakley RX. Got some Split Jackets with photochromic lenses mail order from them and they’ve been great.

I have one built up around a Salsa Casseroll frame. Used mostly for commuting, thou has been touring and on a few winter club runs (to the annoyance of the road club!). Tbh, I wouldnt want to ride it alot on club runs as the gaps between the gears mean its annoying to pedal in a group. You’re either in a too hard gear or a too easy gear.

    Love it for commuting thou!

On the way to Amsterdam, but it looks pretty much like that in commuting mode (minus the barbag).

Wish that Subway mentioned above was 700c! I need a new alfine wheel and that would have been a bargain.

    Thanks for the info.

It will be the sustrans route, and will try and keep it all on road.

Thinking of staying in Nenthead at present.

Mine came a couple of days ago. Ordered a LS small and after reading the posts on here thought it would be too tight. It’s pretty much perfect! Actually one of the best fitting jerseys I own now and the pockets are good too.

Just ordered a baby blue LS jersey on the new deal they have. Small again. Hopefully the sizing is similar…

cheapest I’ve had is buying a pair of BBB powerview frames (the rimmed model) (http://www.pro-bike.co.uk/22030-powerview-2-glasses.html)

and then getting optilabs.co.uk to glaze them. ~ £90 for photochromic lenses.

Front roller on the back and a bar bag for 2 day winter tour…

Would I be able to get the single kit without the housing/mount? If so, how much?

I’m assuming I could run the LFlex with a 7.4V pack.

    Thanks

If you dont mind buying from Singapore, then http://www.bikesoul.com are very good value.

I’ve had their 1315g set for 3 years and they’ve never missed a beat. Obviously back then they were alot cheaper due to the dollar rate.

Yes you can. But its called a Course on a Edge instead of a Track i think.

As with your eTrex (i think) there’s no mapping. Its just a line on the screen, but I’ve used mine for 100 milers quite easily before.

Andy, frames were the Oakley Five Squared Ducati edition for ~£36. Lenses are photochromic optilabs with anti-scratch, glare, mist coating for £97 + £5 p&p. This is probably the 3rd pair of lenses I’ve bought from optilabs over the years.

End of last year I got a pair of Oakley glazed Split Jackets and I have to admit the Oakley lenses are definitely superior to the optilabs ones. They just feel better when looking through them.

Got mine the day after I ordered them and they’ve just got back after a week with Optilabs, getting some transition prescription lenses glazed…

Haven’t tried them on the bike yet but seem good (apart from a small crack/scratch in the frame at the corner of the lens courtesy of optilabs which I will be speaking to them about)

ermmm, why would you want one?! Surely it would be much harder to use than the normal alfine shifter. (I have a JTek shifter on some drop bars)

firestater, only this special one works with it: http://jtekengineering.com/jtek_bar-end_shifter.htm

I got mine from PlanetX. Not sure they still sell them.

And as you said, there seems to be some very good condition ones going for very cheap at the moment!

I’ve got a GPX Manual. And yes, I can get my Giant Anthem in the back seats!

I think the Auto’s came in both 4 and 5 speed versions (5 was later).

Best bet is to ask on http://www.ftooc.org or the FTO Australia site.

I’ve used one for commuting/light touring for a year and a half now. Perfect for theses uses. Haven’t done any maintenance in ages! I use the JTek bar end shifter.

However, I’ve taken it on the sunday club run a few times and the gear jumps are annoying when riding in a bunch as 1 gear is too easy and the next is too hard at a specific constant speed.

Used one for a 2 day peaks trip last year. Held up fine and that was with the bolts loose! Now even better with the bolts fixed. Carried a sleeping bag and some food/tools in my Carradice Barley bag on it, with a bungee holding it all tight.

Those ones on Ebay are Costco own brand ones. Surely they must be even cheaper in costco…

Mitsi FTO? Look great, fun to drive and there seem to loads of decent (sensibly modded) ones going cheap at the mo (www.ftooc.org)

oh, only if you can get cheap insurance…
