Ta. Just ordered a Cyo and a dynamo from ze Garmans. How do you find ze light?

Tis great for road riding. Shapes the beam to light up the road (and not the trees) ahead. Got another one on my audax bike too.

The philips saferide is pretty cool too. Its like a big glow ring of red light.

Which dynamo did you get? I’ve got a Alfine one on the salsa, and a Shutter Precision pv8 on the audax bike.

@damitamit any chance of a close up of how that Cyo is mounted please? Does it just go between the fork and the front brake on the brake bolt? Ta.

It goes between the brake and the fork on the brake bolt. Thou I cant remember it if was in front or between the mudguard tab.

    Forgot to mention logistics…

From London, I got a train to penzance (easy).

Back to London from JOG, rode 20 miles to Wick, gave bike to a bike (plus toy shop) there who posted it home for £50 (including packaging it quite well), got the train to Inverness, then the overnight sleeper to London Euston.

Dont think photos worked the first time: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/107765230154583117106/albums/5747702058647411153

We did LEJOG in 9 days unsupported staying in B&Bs, earlier this year. It was a scenic route, ended up being 960 miles. We pre-booked all the B&Bs and planned a gps route for each day (mostly based on the CTC B&B route with some detours to friends houses we were staying at). You don’t need much stuff tbh, I fit everything in a Carradice Barley bag (with spare footwear tied on top). Shortest day was 85, longest 140.

It was great fun (thou we had amazing weather, even in the highlands)!

I have a spreadsheet if you want all the details/route. Email me…

You need to complete a Super Randonneur Series in the same year as PBP to qualify. That involves a 200, 300, 400 & 600km audax.

I’m planning on doing PBP in 2015 :)

9 hours?! That must be a lot of data, a very slow server or some badly designed indexes.

In management studio, try right clicking and “Display execution plan” to see what its doing/which bit takes the most time.

I did it! Was a great event, lovely roads, friendly people and lots of cake! Me and a friend decided to ride to the start from warrington but we miss timed it so ended up getting to bala fairly late and then after having breakfast set off at nearly 10am. This meant being quite close to the closing time of each control but we made it in the end with about 45 mins to spare I think. We set off to ride back home, but after slowing down a fair amount to due sleepyness and only having 1 gear on my bike (the gear cable snapped earlier on in the ride) we called it a day about 11.30pm and called for a lift home! Luckily my friend’s better half was still up! A good day out and a fair few miles…

On a serious note, if the pc doesnt need to be too powerful look into low power fanless computers (or with only one fan to minimize risk of failure). If you look at some of the quiet pc sites you should find alot of info. Something like http://www.silentpcreview.com. People seem to build some quite powerful home theatre pcs without fans.

    Dyno + B&M Cyo. Simples.

The Cyo may not look very bright, but the way it shapes the light makes it great for road riding.

I think the cyo weighs 100g. Add a SP dynamo hub (390g) and its not much heavier than normal hub/battery light setup. But a lot more convenient!

I’m all for cheap chinese carbon frames (I have one with 4000+ miles on it) but I’m not sure why someone would want a fake replica frame. You’d always be wondering if it was as good as the real thing and tbh Pinarello’s arent very cool to start off with! Plus once everyone found out it was fake, you’d loose all your supposed cycling-cool points anyway.

Surely blank chinese frames are the ideal surface to create your own brand on and fool everyone into thinking you have the latest brand in handbuilt carbon development and start a new niche on STW ;)

White bar tape means you think you’re FAST (you better be!)

    Best to stick with black…

No comment on the chinese cx frames, but I’ve done 4000+ miles on my chinese road frame since September and its been great. I got a FM028, as there was loads of info about them on the forums so figured it was the most ‘tried and tested’ one. No problems so far and it doesnt ride much different to my Isaac. I’ve used it for lots of sunday club runs, a couple of long audaxes and a 9day LEJOG.

    Nice setup!

I got a pv-8 built into a lightweight road wheel last week. A23 hub and 24 Sapim Lasers. Used it on the Dunwich Dynamo this weekend with a B&M Cyo and was brilliant.

One question, when you spin the wheel by hand (with the light off) do you find it stops very quickly? Or is this just mine? My shimano alfine dynamo hub will spin for a while like this.
