Cant help much as I’m just heading out of th Uk for a week, I organised the recent Ilkley cyclocross so once back if there’s any areas you havent covered.
Easiest probably to go via BC

    Try this east to west
Or as Missus and Myself did, a few years ago have a look at the area around semur en auxios using roads and the canal du bourgogne travelling west to Clamecy via the Morvan. Dont have to head all the way south

Its a strange situation, the 50 or so council houses in our village have some fairly well off people in them, I can think of 2/3 which have “poor” families in.
Yet the £400,000 house out the back is rented out to a family with 3 kids neither parents work and I believe the rent is £850 pcm paid for by housing benefit.
They have a better car than my wife who works, strange world !!!!
BTW I dont work but dont sign on, maybe I should and get into this benefits system, fair I suppose as in 42 years I’ve only had £123 in benefits.

Anyon not now wearing a helmet for MTBing ? If so would you lie to send it to me ?
I appear to have cracked it on the front when face planting.
On second thoughts dont bother the two small grazes above my eyes seem to have been caused by the helmet, bloody dangerous they are

    You can run same chain.

That’s really bad advice. If the old chain was cut just a little on the short side, you’ll be in trouble. We all know that you shouldn’t ride in big-big, but I wouldn’t want to ride a bike where the penalty for shifting into that gear was an expensive failure.

So what expensive failure, you just cant get it into big and big. Too long a chain and thats when the rear mech winds up in the rear cassette. Both gears a good cyclist would never use.
Likely thing for OP is the bike has never had its chain checked, came out of a shop with too long a chain.

You can run same chain. If you change gears correctly and dont cross your gears a shorter one is OK, mind if you run a 1×10 then it depends on what tensioner etc.
Technically the best chain length is when the chain is around the largest front chain ring and largest sprocket and add 2 links [without going through the mech]

I run all sorts of front chainset/deraller combinations both MTB and road 10 speed chains with 9 speed rings and shifters, about to try a rear 9 speed mech with a 10 speed block and shfter. Shouldnt work but I’m curious 🙂

Small non-flammable gas cylinders, containing carbon dioxide or other suitable gas in Div 2.2. Up to 2 small cylinders fitted into a life jacket and up to 2 spare cylinders per person. Not more than 4 cylinders up to 50 mL water capacity for other devices. So from the forbidden items list the above are allowed in hand or hold, the pilot need not be informed however it does recommended contacting the carrier.

I’ve flown with Air France, Jet 2, Easy Jet, Monarch and CCM. Carried co2 cartridges, did have a problem once at Liverpool. That was down to the baggage handling staff who dont work for any airliner, 1 said I couldnt check them in hold but could take them in hand. Easy Jet said the opposite, however I siad I’ll just bin the cartridges so discharged the one in the pump. A baggage supervisor said “what are you doing they are allowed in hold luggage” so in hold they went.
FWIW difference in air pressure from sea level to 40,000 feet is only 15 Psi, every aircraft carries some 150 co2 cannisters in the cabins.
Check before you go with the carrier, if you dont feel confident on carrying them.

Pair of Mountain Kings tried killing me, they were returned to shop and swapped for Maxxis Advantages. As for road tyres they dont deserve the reputation they have just about every time our rides are held up with punctures a Continental is involved.
