Why….as I have been asked by a long term friend to provide this solution…he is currently in South America

Well that explains a lot, but sorry cant help as I guess there are a 1001 solutions out there for what he wants. May be worthwile looking at his SP to see what kit they use for the IF to the PSTN. Always a good idea to match manufacturers as when it comes to fault finding one will say its not our switch, the other saying its not our terminal kit.

Dales Rider, did you do yours after 3hrs of Sprint intervals on hills too or didn’t you read that far?

No rode about 7 miles to warm up. At my age its a fine line between warming up and wearing out. Also its the same with the cross racing 50 minutes racing 6 minutes warm up. I’ll never make the podium, well maybe never, so its just about enjoyment. That said I nearly got 1st place a few weeks ago till they realised I was entered in the wrong Cat I had to go up into the “fast lads” class

No not why to you but the original poster. I’ve worked on enough transmission systems in 30 years to know how they are put together.

Most CX racers will have the choice of several rear set ups. The top ones have several bike set ups.
Me I have 1 bike it has a 50/34 up front in the dry a 12-25 is fine but the last 2 races which were muddy I went to a 12-30 on the back.
Just remember CX racing you dont have long hills so you dont need silly low gears, and if they are steep you carry up them.

    Why ?
    Thats the question I’d ask.

Just buy a proper bike, take the cranks off. Couple of weeks later put em on and teach him to ride a bike.
Or just teach him to ride a bike and not a scooter.
My experience with my kids is teach them on the proper kit, made the mistake of using stabilisers with 1st daughter, 2nd daughter just learnt to ride a bike.
Just think how would you teach your child on any other sporting kit ? Would you teach them to say board on a pair of skis, give em one roller skate ?

Im sure you could fit boilers all day long at 250 quid ! Get out of the 80s or 90s much ? Not a chance youll get a boiler fitted for 250 quid.

    *Checks Bill*

    Yep £250

not bad for 5 hours work with a stop for lunch, would have done it my self but wanted it gas safe and registered with Worcester Bosch for my 5 Year Guarantee.

Dont take first quote I had everything from £650 for fitting + Parts down to 2 at £250 Including parts.
Pipes more or less lined up so only major change was from a 15mm gas supply to a 22 mm. Oh and adding a condensate pipe to the foul stack.

i’d suggest an easier way would be to stick two cans in your car before you set off.
Pointless absolutely pointless, in the air con glove box, thats where mine go, else how can you reach them whilst driving ?

So all the french services sell alcohol, whats all the fuss about just about all pubs in the UK are on roads, dual carriageways to narrow twisting roads.
Me I welcome it just as I did when M and S started opening outlets at service stations, more choice.

Cool. When’s the programme on Channel 4 about you? No? Youtube videos?

I only did the BBC sorry, mind I dont have to proof anything, if you knew me you could look me up in some of the climbing guides, pictures as well :P

Nope from someone who did what was probably the earliest form of free running, mind we did it outside typically in spate rivers from boulder to boulder. Or tops of pinnacles onto the main crag Brimham was one such spot. Still do a bit jumping the Strid being one as was last years trip to Font.
Also still climb at 6a just last week in Tenerife, also solo up to E2 5b.
so maybe qualify ? Oh and I’m pretty good at climbing buildings, they make them easy to do so

What the likes of Honnold do is on another planet skills wise. For example, as an estimate the number of people in the UK who could climb this route with ropes is probably in the low hundreds I doubt if there is another climber in the world who would take it on solo.

An unbelievable solo, in the past I could put myself in those low hundreds so can appreciate the enormity of his undertaking

He’s good at balancing, you have to give him that.

Everybody is hence the reason we can walk, hop, ride a bike etc
He was good at back flips, the one think I cant do.

Mikey74/Dales Rider your kidding yourselves if you think mtb is an extreme sport. For a very few, they guys who do Redbull Rampage etc it is extreme but even then they still appear to get more injured then killed.

TRUE extreme sports you know that if you make a mistake you will die and if you are lucky end up very badly injured.

Well I think you will find it is, when it comes to categorising for insurance its way up there.
The companies lump sports into 7 cats
Cat 1 includes Abseiling, Cheerleading, Cricket, Hiking (up to 2500m)-includes mountain walking (excluding the use of crampons & ice axes), Kayaking (up to grade 3), Mountain biking on cycle paths (not on trails and non-competitive), Scuba diving (to 30m accompanied, 50m if qualified/under instruction), Via ferrata, Volleyball, Walking(up to 2500m), Wall ball, Water polo, Wheelchair curling, Windsurfing (inside 12mile limit),
    Thats just a few
Cat 2 Ballooning, Bicycle polo, Bouldering, BMX freestyle, BMX racing, Downhill skiing, Fin swimming,Indoor climbing, In-line skating, Iron man (comp), Mountain biking-cross country (non competitive), Rock climbing excluding climbs with crevassed approaches or descents and also any snow/ice climbing (See ice climbing), Roller blading
Cat 3 Mountain biking downhill, Mountain Biking stunting & jumping, Mountain Unicycling (downhill &/or competition), Mountaineering (with ropes and/or guides) limited to 4,000m when outside of Europe

So they percieve the risk and the potential outcome as more serious than rock climbing, which gets the label “Extreme sport”

    MrNice – Member

Re the comparisons with climbing, there’s a saying that “there are old climbers and bold climbers but no old, bold climbers”. Basically you either grow out of that sort of risk taking or die doing it. It’s only a matter of time before you misjudge something when the margin for error is that small. See John Bachar, Jimmy Jewel etc for details.

They were unlucky, Bachar was hit by rockfall an objective danger and Jimmy reversing an easy climb.
What the lad was doing on the program had no real objective dangers only subjective as the majority of rock climbing is. The difference being rock climbing has a level of skill, what was shown has no level of skill what so ever. Hence the reason why I turned it off it was just sensationalising some young kids who took the biggest risks by doing something illegal.

BTW I’m both an old an bold rock climber. :P

no real climbing content. That’s because he’s not a real climber, he’s into parkour, albeit an extreme branch of it.

so why advertise it as “urban free climber”

There’s some excellent films of urban free climbing, which show the true test of combining difficulty with exposure.

Might as well been a film on playing chicken

At approximately 9.00am on Saturday 18th January a local dog walker located the body of a male within the grounds of the mine works at Wheal Maid Near Caraharrack in Cornwall. She alerted the Police who attended, cordoned off the area and commenced enquiries.

We believe the male has had a serious accident within the works and subsequently died at the scene. His identity is unknown at this time and we would ask anyone who may know him to come forward to assist us.

The gentleman is aged between 50 and 65 years of age, he was dressed in a blue fleece, dark coloured Ron Hill type running bottoms and black Specialized Sport TR cycling shoes. He was also wearing a pair of brown gardening gloves. He has a full grey beard and a bald head. A pair of spectacles were located nearby. A black baseball cap was also found nearby.

This is an area used by mountain bikers on a daily basis and we would predominately ask any bikers who may have seen this gentleman at any time in the area or if anybody has any information that may assist Police with their enquiries to make contact on 101 and quote log number 182 .

Also from that how do you get he was a cyclist, or at least cycling at the time ?

Make contact with Nick at tenerifeoutdoor.com they have a shop in Granadilla and have details of all the locations and gradings etc. They also hire all the kit out. But the area above Arico (Ortiz) does seem popular when I ride past.

Did do and the shop a good source for info, pointed to a newly developed gorge above Grandilla near cruz de tea

The one day of rain didnt spoil the trip we got above the clouds
