As far as it goes, its very hard to be prosecuted for trespass as its not a criminal offence.
On the other hand you can be prosecuted for criminal damage, which can include damage to vegetation.
I’ll not put the facts on here but 2 friends and myself were, earlier this century, yes 21st century. Local Police were a bit annoyed at the time wasted but the local Duke has friends in high places. This was on Moor Land in the Dales !!!

If you know what you are doing either Shimano or Hope.
If you dont then you will have problems which ever brake you get.
I have 2 sets Shimano [oldest M555s] and 3 sets of Hope [oldest C2s], biggest problem has been wrong choice of aftermarket pads.
Oh and being a dumb ass who didnt follow the instructions for setting up them properly.

    *Thinks*
How hard can it be to put innards of some digital scales in a pedal shoe interface and add an Ant+ transmitter

Just waiting for the price of a Pedal based Power Meter to become affordable.

Are they cheaper than a power meter ?

    Dales_rider

I’d go along with DT78 and advocate power meters but as they are expensive its not an option for me at the moment.
I use my HR monitor to try and keep up a pace I know I can sustain. If I use the may formulas for MHR I always end up with at highest 170 and some saying 160.
For me that is a bit low, max HR recorded this year was on the Aubisque when it hit 199 I felt that and reduced effort.

So that would suggest, using formulas, that I am younger than I look.
Must have been the paper round :D

Dales, which version of the RVLR are you quoting. Are you quoting the original 1989 version or its subsequent amendments?
So 2003 amendment seems to have sorted out the filament lamp, not noticed that. Mind that’s the problem with legislation easy to miss the important bits.
That aside it would seem that if you were involved in an accident/incident you would have some contributory negligence, unless your lights met the 1989 regs and all subsequent amendments.
So check your lights and if they are not stamped BS 6102-3 they are illegal :D
Also interestingley your batteries need to last 10 hours :(

Technicaly LEDs are illegal as the law mentions something about a Filament lamp, which applies to all vehicles. So some modern cars break the law. As for flashing that is legal now

I’m going to say that’s balls.

So back it up with something more intellectual then !

Or just in case you cant extracts from the regs

    Pedal cycle

    Type of lamp Schedule Exceptions

Rear position lamp Schedule 10: Part I None.

Filament lamps14.—(1) Where a motor vehicle first used on or after 1st April 1986 or any trailer manufactured on or after 1st October 1985 is equipped with any lamp of a type that is required by any Schedule to these Regulations to be marked with an approval mark, no filament lamp other than a filament lamp referred to in the Designation of Approval Marks Regulations in–
    (a)regulation 4 and Schedule 2, items 2 or 2A, 8, 20, 37 or 37A; or
    (b)regulation 5 and Schedule 4, item 18,
shall be fitted to any such lamp.
    (2) Where any pedal cycle manufactured on or after 1st October 1990 is equipped with any lamp that is required by any Schedule to these Regulations to be marked with a British Standard mark, no filament lamp other than a filament lamp marked with the marking indicated in the British Standard specification for Filament Lamps for Cycles published by the British Standards Institution under the reference 6873: 1988 namely “B.S. 6873” shall be fitted to any such lamp.

dales rider, going to mount on the seatpost at the bottom as its a dropper post.

Are the ones with lasers built it legal??

Had many a light over the years and my favourite at the moment is the Lezyne Mico Drive it is easy to take on off doesnt use much leccy and is bright, also USB charger. I also use a knog clipped somewhere on my clothes, or a Cateye which I mount on a seat stay.

You only really have one MHR, think of it like your cars engine it has a Maximum Rev, too much and it breaks.
So to find your max heart rate it needs pushing to the max and is only safely done with someone in attendance and is easier to get using multiple muscles rather than running or cycling. A rowing machine, its also not as far to fall when you hit it.

I’ve always wondered about Lactate threshold, so far the answers have been more accurate than the one on Max Heart Rate.

Hamster unless you are very unfit dont, I rode 2 Pyrenees classics this summer with no problems using a 11-25 cassette. They are no way as hard as some of my Yorkshire climbs. As you can see from the photo I’m no young racing whippet. You just have to be able to grind out a hill for an hour, so its more about pace.

Depends on how skillful you are, more lights and lumens are for the “Pussy” riders

Or riding somewhere you’ve never ridden before.

Depends where you are getting the water from, only real contaminate in high up Lakeland streams is dead sheep, over the years I’ve happily drunk from them without treating the water.

Your daughter I assume, Dales. Skiing was much better in the days of bobble hats, sunnies and tight-fitting fuseaux.

Yes correct Mr G and sadly a better skier than me :-( , 2 years living in Chamonix to blame.

Oh right, I’ll just pop the 3 year old in the car for an 8 hour drive each way and some outoor climbing in winter. That’s much easier than spending an hour in Bristol.

    For Dales-rider

It seems you have to look outside the UK for the aftermarket ones so may as well buy the originals.

$12 for Deore up to $35 for XTR.

That said, I’d go for a full assembly myself – shiny, shiny.

Nobby I know, if you don’t know me just look at the name and think back to SITS. :D :D :D
