    Sorry wrong rule

    Rule #25
// The bikes on top of your car should be worth more than the car.

Rule #25 may be the one that covers it.

I use both Shimano and Specialized hard to spot the difference to be honest.
Carnac are the only other shoe I have used and rate them but are difficult to find.

Front was all I used, has the advantage of knowing when they have fallen off the bike.

    Top tips for going tubeless
1 Get valves with a removable core
2 Tyre on with a standard tube and inflate to seat the tyre on the rim, NB dont ever ever go above 55 PSI.
3 Take one side of the tyre off the rim, remove tube.
4 Put in Valve and blow up tyre to seat removed side of tyre onto rim.
5 Core of valve out, pour in gunge inflate and jobs a good un.

Thanks for those, will look into them – Appleby Manor sounds interesting.
Next question – Cross Fell or High Street on cx bikes… Early April – which will be wetter?

High Street would be a nice walk with a bike, unless it freezes it wont be ride-able.
Great Dun Fell its tarmac to the top and the longest single climb in the UK, possibly the only true Cat1

Standard electrical tape works just as well as the yellow tape IME.

Think thats what I said, works

Thanks swelper – two interesting looking places.
Have been to wilf’s – ‘s’ok, went there in October. Not really worth driving for an hour to get there tbh – we went on the way back from Sizergh Castle and after a quick trip round Wheelbase.

Sorry thought you wanted a Non Flesh Place, why not try somewhere in Penrith.

Wilf’s is a good call, bit of a ball-ache to get to from Penrith though, although the Grasmere one would be a nice drive.
I’m not sure they take reservations for lunch though.

25 miles 40 minutes and a brewery next door, also a bike shop to visit afterwards I challenge anyone to find better 😀

Difficult ones to do are the Horst Link, worth taking in a shop just for those.
Mind I’d take the shock off and see where the play is 1st Main pivots are easy to do yourself.

Total transmission losses in the UK grid are estimate at around 7.7% making it 92.3% efficient. I challenge you to find a form of electrical generation that is that efficient

i know about ohms law! but with out knowing the excact voltage and the given resistance, i am unable to calculate the current, so 240v was just a general description.

you clearly have no idea about electrical protection systems in the domestic home

Nope according to you, but please explain.

its there to make sure any pipe work with in the property will be at the same potential if there is a fault, ie you have a shower with a fault and you touch the metal tap the voltage should be the same lets say 240v, no shock, if the tap was “earthed” you now have 240v passing through you and your in trouble.

As this intrigues me, Whats there ? So the shower has a fault ? What fault ? How does Main and supplemental bonding NOT Earth all your metal work in a bathroom ?

You sound like as I said early 1/2 right the other 1/2 is a country mile away and dangerous.

    Dales_rider

    Still only 1/2 right BTW.
240 v isn’t the problem passing through you its how much current you draw.

    russ295 – Member

plastic water/gas mains makes no difference to main bonding, its there to make sure any pipe work with in the property will be at the same potential if there is a fault, ie you have a shower with a fault and you touch the metal tap the voltage should be the same lets say 240v, no shock, if the tap was “earthed” you now have 240v passing through you and your in trouble.

    Eh ?

wow , i need to retrain as an electrician then!

Maybe maybe not is the answer to that, if you are a trained electrician you will know that is the correct answer to give. Seems like the £400 quote was based on that. Maybe you will need new wiring, bonding, RCD, consumer unit, the list goes on. I hate it when people ask me to do a “Simple Job”

[BTW some one needs to get up to date with 17th edition regs.]

im pretty sure “bonding” is still required in the 17th edition.

im pretty sure “supplementary bonding” in bathrooms isnt.

1/2 correct but as the shower I believe will be fitted in the bathroom then Its Supplementary bonding as opposed to main bonding. Mostly not required these days with plastic main gas and water pipes

Interestingly a guy at work, who is also a retained fireman, installed his own electric shower. How embarrassed he was when he set his loft on fire.
Thought it was a good idea to coil all the spare cable up under the loft insulation.

Without seeing you fuse board (consumer unit) its difficult to say what other costs are involved. It could be that the bonding needs upgrading.

BTW some one needs to get up to date with 17th edition regs.

Isle of Man would be a good place, same type of rock and easy to exclude from traveling if things go wrong and with clever engineering they could extract heat from the waste and turn it in to a tropical paradise, heaven knows it needs something to liven it up.

I use sockets on my Hope hubs, one that will take the bearing inside. Taping the axle, plastic hammer, to remove one side then the other easy enough.
These are the tools I use, looks like an inch and a 1/4 to take the bearing which is near enough 32mm

and a 21 for tapping them in 😀

I don’t think the Disco quite qualifies as a Chelsea tractor.

Isn’t the Disco the definitive Chelsea tractor?

Its not what it is its how much more it costs in comparison to the car next to you.

Yeah dales rider especially those with only winter tires on the front.

That would never work, what idiot would attempt that you’d not get more that a few miles in snow before you crashed.
