I find it quite funny that changing wheel sizes for an off road bike people bother to test the different speeds.
    Its fairly obvious
1./ No one is racing a 29er Downhill bike
2./ No one is doing big tricks on a BMX track on 26″ bike
3./ No one is winning cross races on anything else than a 700c [29er] bike.
Yet people are expecting 1 bike for all the above, it wont happen.
Maybe when there are enough 650bs out there will be a “Bike for all trail” ? who knows.

The whole trail is very good and certainly has the most challenging techy bits of any of the trail centres [except Stainburn] in th UK. Ok so they are few and far between but the Gisburn slab is harder than any of the Scottish offerings.

I’d say Laggan is quite a bit more techy. The slab is easy, it just looks a bit scary from the top.

Not ridden Lagan, but will do one day.
So as an overall techy section starting from the first ascent up and over the small slab and actualy ridding up to the top of the big slab, how does that compare ?

You can download any one of a million programs that boot it to look like windows 7
    or try this

First, open the Task Scheduler by typing Schedule task in the Settings search on the All Apps screen, or by deep-diving to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Schedule Tasks.

Once the Task Scheduler is open, click Create Task under Task Scheduler Library in the Actions pane. Name your task “Boot to desktop” or something similar. Open the Triggers tab, select New, and choose At log on in the ‘Begin the task’ drop-down menu at top. Click OK, and then open the Actions tab, select New once again, and enter explorer in the Program/script field.

Save the action and the task, and you’re done! From now on, every time you log in to Windows, you’ll automatically jump to the desktop, where an open Libraries folder will greet you.

    new Swoops section

Is that on the red or black? I’m a bit scared of black, just knowing my own ability! I was reasonable back in the day, but that was back in the day. Now I am receding hairline and 34, not 20, with dodgy knees!!
BTW I’m nearly twice your age, you’ll be fine.

Sorry, but get really p1$$3d off with the negativity on here at times!

Its quite hard work on the uphill sections especially if bike fitness is a little lacking. As Dales_Rider said, some of the best bits are off the main fire road so keep your eyes peeled so you dont miss them. Also (according to some) the Hully Gully is in a poor state towards the bottom so watch out for that.

    Have a good one!

Maybe thats why there is some -ve comments, uphill technical riding 🙂

Ok so they are few and far between but the Gisburn slab is harder than any of the Scottish offerings. Hully Gully is better than any section of the Stanes OK its a lot shorter so last time I was there I rode it twice 🙂

Being local, pubs wise I’d pop to the Maypole in Long Preston.
Cafe try the Old Vicarage in Tosside
Parking either at Tosside Disadvantage its uphill from the bottom of the trail.
Or official carpark, can be busy.
Keep a keen eye out for the route signs as you can ride past some of the best bits and think the place Dull and need a book 🙂

Um…. you are trying to make the point that smoking a spliff is the same as stealing bikes?

Good point is smoking a spliff against the law ? or maybe the person you bought the “Gear” from was a nice upstanding member of society, what about the mister “Bigs” of the trade are they just importers ?

So what laws can we be selective about ?

Seems as if I do it without making a lot of noise I’ll get away with breaking the law !

I’m thinking more up North, maybe 1/2 way around a trail centre, obviously I wouldnt do it on a family trail or in front of children so should be OK ?

What are you anticipating you are going to fix when out on your road bike ?

Well when I rode it Saturday before last it was fine, the new white surfacing they had put down everywhere was real smooth.
Only complaint is it made the north shore a tad slippy.

I’ve told you before, you dont have a multi tool on a road bike.m
All you need is allan keys, usualy just 3, and a chain tool

No problem with kids and camper vans, did it with a Peugeot Camelot in the late 80’s the van eventualy went when I had a company car, it was too big for the missus to drive to and from work.
A high van is OK if you are just a “Pretend” Camper going on sites with all the facilities, but bear in mind the height and size does have its costs.
Loads of places you cant fit in for height. So for wild stuff and everyday driving a pop top VW is the best bet. Its not just the barriers that are springing up all oer place its trees etc.

Your asking for something that doesnt really exist, Spring to Autumn temperatures out doors range from at least -2 to +26, thats in the Dales.
For bivving you want light and small pack size so maybe a Snugpack softie tech 2 and a liner for colder weather.
