Thanks everyone for chipping in, my faith in people has been restored. Realise now that benpinnick had offered the Sapim polyax info but I was still too grumpy to realise..so eBay has ryanforspokes selling polyax nips £5 for 100 and with the money saved I shall probably plant some trees !

Dam ,survivor you’re reinforcing my grump ! Still heading towards aci as they come with 12mm brass nipples will see if the soulder and washer look ok or If l may be in for a lot of retentioning as they settle together

@mr greeny made me smile got the feeling he has a lot of experience with Roady wheels and some strong views on proprietary parts which I mostly agree with .
Trying to keep the wheel build price down as really trying to keep an old bike going untill the second hand bike market settles into something I can afford . Struggling to understand the pricing of squorx nips best I can find is £30 on 100 for brass .Don’t think they have extra thread they look like they have the same amount as 12mm nips but with extra unicorn magic . Now I am beginning to sounding contancerous !

Cycle basket is the cheapest by some ways, even with extra .Spokefromryan was helpful but sujested that I would either have to use squorx or Sapim double square nipples with the DT Swiss washers both of these are alloy which I don’t like so thank you everyone for your advice

Have thought about spokes and re dish and agree with Spaniard climber that running out of thread will be the issue but I won’t know until I try just need to get enough clearance for the tyre the double adapter/new disc option is close to a new hub price it’s why I was trying to get some real world feedback ,again thanks for the advice

Thanks all come to the conclusion that a 10mm spacer non disc side and reddish  is the simplest/cheapest though finding that spacer…jtech will make me one for a tenner which is awesome leaving this for others in my situation

Its taken me three months to get use to the rigid type riding after years of full sus .I am riding rocky (unforgiving) terrain and find if I want to ride fast it needs a lot more focus and awarnes of what you are riding over .Slow riding tech can be awsome !

Similar idea to momo zip tied piece of mudguard to rear triangle keeps alot of crap out.Could also try silicone polish on rear making it difficult for mud to stick.Suprised the wheel locked as theres loads of room there must have some pretty heavy clay round youre way

Trying 1×10 round here at the moment (came on a bike I bought) 30×40 its ok but i miss my granny ! you can get up most stuff with a bit of gurning (penny steps still taunts me)but after 20 miles I begin to think about 2×10 and its sit down and enjoy the scenery gearing !

Only negative I have found after a years ridding electrons are that the pins are a narrower guage, this has led to a bit more wear on me shoes.Light and tough enough with good seals on the bearings

thanks for reply’s ,pads, bought superstar for years generally fine swopped discs for new including rotor bolts suspect the squeel is to do with pad/calliper/piston interface. Have bled them enough ,even took them off the bike to get as full a vertical bleed as possible but of late not been able to get the softish feel from the levers. Will ring merlin and see what they say cheers all .
