Have a word with your local first aid provider.

Old helmets make great training aids duing practice scenarios.

Full face especially as there is a technique required to remove a full face helmet with a suspect spinal injury.

    See

BASP or other outdoor first aid provider.

[erm, it rained the full week leading up to ard rock, the camping fields were sodden on arrival on friday. Granted it didn’t rain during most of Saturday but it started raining at 3:30 4ish as I finished stage 6. It also hammered with rain into the sunday morning. The field I was camped in – had 2 shower ‘blocks’, one of which was not working at 5:30pm on the saturday when the queue for the 3 working showers was massive.]

Aye it was a wee bit wet under foot, but the trails were running fine, a few rain showers druing my race on saturday, but nothing to put me off having a cracking day out.

As for the shower facilities, yes you could Q and get a warm shower or like me, go for the full Dudes of Hazzard Enduro experience and just jump in the river for a wash. This is far quicker and leaves more time for getting those recovery beers in.

    Roll on 2018!!!

    A five climbs just fine.

I went from a santa cruz superlight to a 26er five. Not much climbing difference in the real world and the sc was a cracking climber.

Sold my five last month after 4 happy years, iv bought an ibis, i know the ibis is a great bike but i just know im going to miss my five.

Do it you wont regret it.

We as a family recently went to Canada, 2 weeks skiing accommodation in Banff and kicking horse for 1500quid. 300 each. Total bargain, we rented the whole houses. Couldn’t recommend air B and B enough.

Just booked myself flights to calgary. Last 2 weeks in March. I have skied banff and lake louise before but does anyone have any advice on revelstoke? Anyone been heli skiing? With 2 dollers to the pound it’s not the stupid money it use to be. Big bucket list one that.

With regards to the viking in moraine.

I have been twice with the wife. Couldn’t praise it more. Food might not be to 5 star standard but there is plenty of it. They are not even bothered about you making a packet lunch from the breakfast buffet.

The gondola runs late nights so you can still spend the evenings chasing chalet maids. As for the early morning transfer, you luggage is transferred to the top of the gondola by the hotels ski doo. The gondola will open for you we had a 6am transfer last Jan.

Sunrise breakfasts and first cuts in the corduroy are worth it. Trust me.

Picked up a pair of these while in france. lightweight, and seem very well put together fell like they could take a bit of a beating. And for 18quid what can go wrong?

That is if you get there if the snow gates are open. My advice would be hire before you get there. Maybe at bridge of cally or Blairgowrie.

6ft 3 here and I ride a 20″ had a test on both the 18 and 20 before I bought mine. The 20 is perfect for me. I felt the 18 to be far too small. Felt like a bmx on me.

Im a scout leader and have been for the last 10years. Been in the scouts since I was 5years old. In my opinion it is the single best thing people can get involved in. I have friends all over the world and have travelled extensively with it. From sweden to canada usa and Australia all to take part in scouting.

In my experience kids that join groups that there friends are in stay involved longer. I dont know of many grouos that pull from one school, so meeting new friends is part of the fun.

As for what beavers do, there moto is fun and friendship. Our breavers spend the nights playing games and completing badges that teach them a world of new skills. This year I have seen our cubs do things form, sleepovers, been climbing on an indoor wall, built model boats and raced them down the local river.

Just my thoughts. Hope your wee one joins and enjoys it as much as I do.

I have driven numerous times to chamonix. 1000miles glasgow to slopes
Use the toll roads around 160 for the return trip. Worth every penny. Quiet smooth roads.

Do it with mates. Its a great laugh taking turns to drive.

I dont care what anyone says but driving olto the alps is the best way to do it.. no airports, no weight or baggage allowances… have driven from Scotland too chamonix plenty of times for skiing. Never been in the summer tho. Toll roads are worth every penny. Fast efficient motorways means less time driving more time playing. Buy a road map as the motorway system is really easy too follow. Our 1997 roadmap is still our map of choice….

    Hope this is of help.

The just put it in the suit case along with some other gifts for my self and mrs d. No questions asked even when the case was opened for inspection as it was a large tour ski bag..

Just bought the wife a saracen x1 hybrid, she was after a bike to ride to the shops/gym and on pub rides on a sunday. Im impressed with the build quality and value for money. Brand new 2012 model from my lbs for 280 almost 100 quid off and only 50more than the appolo halfords equivelent.

Id have a look at there budget models. Im really impressed with what you can get for sub 300…

My grandfather went on a saga holiday about 5 years after my gran passed. He came back with a new lease of life and a few names and phone numbers. He went onto marry one of these ladies. Not bad for a man of 70.

I did my tcl training with glenmore lodge in nov 2011 and my assessment with cyclewildscotland in April 2012. Planning on doing my MBL later this year.

Very worth while doing I use mine with scouts.

I was under the impression that the tcl and MBL were both valid as long as you were a member of the British cycling association and Held a valid first aid ticket.

It was my understanding that the gomtb scheme was more geared towards coaching rather than guiding.

    Just my 2p’s worth

depends what kind of frame you have drilled? steel or alloy? and how big a hole?

drilling a small hole less than 4mm shouldn’t cause any great issues in either type of frame.

to re-protect the frame i suggest painting the hole with some metal paint, hammerite etc… this should stop moisture getting at you frame.
