tt bike on the turbo or long travel all mountain/dh rig????
currently got the ss tricross on mine. the road bike has got more road miles in the last 2 weeks than in the last 12 months and yesterday out at swinley i was grinning like a fool! listen to the phisio and also make sure they know what your goals are i.e. getting back on the bike then they may be able to give you a more specific exercise program

Congrats… good luck with the phisio. Keep working at it and it’ll soon be strong again. (Its only taken me 4 months from op to fix 4 ligaments in my wrist to my first real off road ride today) have you got a turbo? It has been invaluable for getting some of my fitness back whilst not being allowed to ride properly. ..

Hey muke.. was that an idea after one too many in bartons mill? :D Me and minivader spent (what felt like) an hour running up and down those on the last bank holiday

Some of the blokes I work with are in shorts all year round (yes even in the snow). Most of the rest of us go March to November….

That is without a doubt the BEST thing on YouTube ever, thank you for sharing such a great and personal vid… also a bit dusty in the vader house too. 8)

Cheers_dive I am likely to get a second set of wheels anyway as the syncros ones are apparently fairly heavy, quite narrow and I dont think they are tubeless ready tho I may be wrong about this.

Anything by trek is out purely for aesthetic reasons. .. dont like the way they look, shallow but there we go. :-)
Plus like I said earlier scott have the twinloc thingy which lessens and stiffens the suspension for “easier” trails.

I used to own a 140mm stumpy (2007) but never really felt it was a good bike… the spark that I rode was fantastic but felt a little slow on the turns so I think if I can get a demo of the 720 and give it a propper blast then that may be the way forward… and by the time I buy the summer sales will have started! !!

Cheers njee… still not convinced by 29er. Maybe the 650b would be a good choice plus the rides are supposed to be similar but the smaller wheel one more involved and playful (dependant on what you read)
And yes I will be getting a test ride on both asap….

about 4 years ago. knew i was developing a solar panel but it was highlighted by mrs vander panning a video around the back of my head. the relulting glare almost blinded the camera. went to boots later that day and clippers were bought…

already got a sc chameleon, currently in ss guise, road bike, ss pub/hack/commuter bike so its now the turn of the carbon full sus (plus the chameleon beats you up too much on anything longer than a couple of hours)… :D

idb..go into my lbs and tell them that, one of them would have a heart attack and the other would splutter and froth (both ht racer types who think you should only have fs for the alps!!!)

njee was it one of the 29er ones? tbh i’m still not really sold on the 29er thing… pleases everyone dont flame me for it. i just havn’t ridden many

i have tested the spark but everything i have read says it gets a little overwhelmed in lots of rocky stuff and the downs which i really like. hence thinking about the 920 or 720… plus if im honest, there is a bit of me that still wants to learn to jump and drop properly and largely!

edit… a skills course is in the pipeline for this, dont know which one yet…

Take your time building, rushing the job to get out on the trail will inevitably lead to broken/badly set up parts and more time off the bike whist waiting for replacements to arrive. …

Cheers George. .. thats what I was figuring. .. hmmm maybe a niner build is doable….. 8)

What about for the full groupset? Was looking at custom built bikes and wondering if the difference between the two (especially price) was so close as to not bother with xt and put the cash saved into wheels….

Cheers tony, am waiting for some money to come in which has been delayed a further two months minimum so will likely be looking at the 2014 models anyway.

I’d be interested in what it rides like in Wales. .. out of interest what’s it weigh? Its not that I’m a weight weenie just 3k for an alloy frame wonder how it compares to equivalent carbon frames eg the spark… cheers

Tony24… that was another bike on my list but I object to paying £40 to demo them (and any other bike) at my local whyte dealer… how are the carbon wheels holding up to abuse?

I got mine because of the extension. Got it hooked up over the workbench out of the way. Plus the extensions gives greater controll if you are doing fine detail stuff.

Have a look at the Axminster one. I got the kit with the extension and chisel kit for about 100 quid. Its done loads of carving and general stuff. Wouldn’t be without it in the garage… http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-axminster-amt-multi-tool-kit-prod21208/

Rootes1… yup. First time on a mtb for almost a year… it was great. Was also going to have a go on the genius but didnt as it went straight back out. Reckon its going to be one of these when I have the cash…

maybe in their ‘3 gear training’ they can include some product knowlege and customer service training. all the ones i have been to near me have been awful. and i used to have to use them for the cycle to work scheme…..

Vote here for cannondale synapse. .. tried out treks, scotts, and giants but none were as comfortable as the cannondale. Plus if you want it more “race” then just lower the bar….

scott spark… tested one last week and it was possibly one of the best bikes i’ve ever ridden. rode the cannondale scalpel just after and it felt all squshy and slow. l love the lefty but i think that the twinloc system made the scott that much more solid at the rear and pleasant to ride. i havnt ridden any other 29er fs atm but the new trek ex 29ers have just come into my lbs and look sweet, but very very expensive. the trek superfly is also on the list to demo
