Trail rat, I tend to do lots of small bits and pieces on the bbq rather than the standard sausages and burgers (unless specifically requested), plus all the bits and pieces that don’t need cooking… If I’m doing a big meal and it’s main is on the bbq then it’s usually a lamb shoulder/leg and served with tabuleh/salads etc

    Webber q series… I’ve the smallest one and it’ll comfortably cook for 10 people…

Herons are noisy buggers… did a night fish off hengistbury head, Christchurch, not knowing about the herons… certainly gives you a brown trouser moment at 2am when they start up as you walk underneath!

i hated the idea of a gas one for years. but i got one a couple of years ago and its great (webber Q) i still use charcoal but when the lad pipes up with “can we bbq dinner” it takes ten min to set it up and start cooking

Scapegoat, I’ll be checking all that when I get enough cash to go ahead, and yes they have offered that, but I will also be looking at local target clubs to get my accuracy up before I start to shoot live targets. And afaik the local firearms officer is a buddy of the farmers!

i already have a hatsan AT-44 which has been tuned to the max! it will also go fac if i want, but is currently sub 12. i will be going to my gun shop in a week or two (i am collaborating with them on a knife) so will have a chat. 22lr looks the way forward however

bear, mine is happy at about 40-50 yards but the bunnies are mighty skittish. everything is now pointing to 22lr… quiet, cheap, with the right round accurate to 200 yds…

its built, but between a full order book (and growing TF!) and looking after the kids and shooting, ive had zero time. it will get better once mrsvader has done moon walk and i can get out

its the Japanese ones that empty bee hives. the Japanese bees swarm the hornets which overheats them and kills them. the european bees don’t know this so have no defence

I reckon I’ll have a chat with my gun shop too… I don’t need to go up the calibers yet as they have a chap who comes in for the foxes, deer are taken out on the adjoining land, so it’s bunnies and feather for me…

Yes that’s all the ground is rated for… I already have a sub 12 air rifle that can be turned fac, but the offer of a sponser isn’t to be sniffed at these days

I’m going to see if I can get one of the rifles that has a changeable barrel. The ground I shoot on is really flinty so there is a real ricochet possibility…

That smith and Weston looks like a folding steak knife! The only folder I actually own is a buck that I’ve had for 15 years. Keep meaning to regrind it with a better bevel but never get round to it… it’s locking too so not an EDC.

Edenvalleyboy, a lot of the farmers I know don’t keep expensive blades as they are forever loosing them in the fields!
Just catching up with this thread…
thanks councilof10, you don’t like my knives evidently. I guess you could say my knives are expensive, but then I have bills to pay and a family to feed and you haven’t a clue the hours that go into making my blades. They’re hand made, not CNC machined….

I MAKE big sharp knives as big scott nanny says, he has the biggest and smallest I make… boker make lovely blades, and I believe they are backed up with a good warrantee too…
As for carrying, my blades have mostly gone to the bushcraft and hunting scene, many of who also have uk legal EDC blades too… I still need to sort my one of them out… even the boss is on my back about making her one!

Dantsw, I’ve been off the bike and any meaningful excersize for 2+ years due to illness. I know once I get back into it the weight will melt off. Plus I know what foods to eat post ride to keep things even…. and it’ll mean I’m off the beer more!

I was back up last weigh in, and expected the same this week as I’ve really done nothing after my wrist op. But I’ve had a couple of weeks controlled eating which has done the trick. And now I’m rebuilding one of my bikes ready to hit the trails again for the first time in 2 years
