I am moving house at the end of this week as well and looking for a mesh solution for a larger new build. looking at the OP’s link the TP-Link Deco X4300 Pro get great reviews but are a bit expensive. does anyone have experience of the cheaper models in this range and what are the practical differences in them or it a case of you get what you pay for.
daddydaveFull MemberFor me its either Risky Business or Cocktail, both great in their story line and cast as well as the soundtrack.
daddydaveFull MemberI priced up with DIY kitchens last year for my daughters flat along with Howdens, MKM Joinery and another company called better kitchens. DIY kitchens and Better Kitchens were very similar and price but Better Kitchens could deliver quicker. Went with Better Kitchens and was really impresssed with the quality, delivery and the communication.
daddydaveFull MemberIt was one of the very hot days in July so that might explain the slow charging speed. The 40kwh charging speed was what the charging said it was charging at but it may have been even less for some of the 40 minute charge period. It’s the principal of planning ahead and thinking that a charger is available at a certain speed and allowing a fixed amount of time for the stop. I agree that the government need to get their finger out if they expect people to change to electric cars.
daddydaveFull MemberI had my first experience recently on a longer journey in an electric car and it wasn’t exactly easy or quick. The car was a polestar 2 with a range of 250 miles and i was going from Falkirk to the NEC in Birmingham. The car suggests where to charge on the journey to minimise stops and i thought this was ideal, a 40 minute stop at a 120 kw charger at Killington Lakes services and i would get to the NEC fine. The stop would include my meal break and a coffee. Arrived at the services and the charger was available, only two chargers onsite though. Plugged the car in and went for a sandwich. Came back 40 minutes later to find the charger was only working at 40 kWh and had only added about 40 miles to my range. Choice was then to stay at this charger longer or carry on and stop again for a better charger. We decided to carry on and looked for a bigger capacity charger further down the road. Stopped again at a charger off junction 27 where there were 8 brand new 150kwh chargers. Plugged in and went for a coffee, came back 20 minutes later to find this charger was only working at 80kwh and we had to stay for another 40 minutes to get enough range to get to the NEC, also the cost of this was 69p/kWh, not far off the price per mile of diesel. There doesn’t seem to be any regulation on publishing the cost of charging like there is with petrol and diesel. Anyway we carried on to the NEC and arrived at our hotel near the airport with 20 miles of range left. We asked about electric car charging and the hotel said there was a charger in the drop off car park. Went to find that it was free to park for the first two hours if you used the charger but after that was £5 for every 15 minutes. Not exactly convenient to use but worked it around our stay and left two days later with a full charge. The journey back to Scotland was not any better, i got all the way to Gretna and stopped to charge. The two gridserve chargers were busy and a woman on one of them said they were working slow and she had only just plugged in after waiting 45 minutes to do so. The other car wasn’t occupied so i didnt know how long they would be. There were plenty of Tesla chargers free but these ones are only available for Teslas. There were 6 Ionity chargers available but i could get an account set up as it kept telling me my email address wasn’t valid. I eventually had to leave and went to the next services where there was a queue of 4 cars waiting on two chargers. Checked an app and found there was a charger in Moffat which was free but this was 9 miles away and i was now down to 20 miles range. I took the gamble and went to Moffat, it was a 22kwh charger and it took over an hour to put in enough range to get home. In conclusion, the Polestar was lovely to drive and very comfortable but the infrastructure just isn’t there yet for me to change to an electric car unless its a Tesla.
daddydaveFull MemberBrands i buy local to me are Guide London and Giordano who both do some very jazzy patterns and designs. Quality of both is very good. Taste is very personal of course.
daddydaveFull MemberI was looking for a new kitchen to fit in my daughters house last year. Went to Howdens, MKM joinery, ikea and Wren and prices were scary. Ended up buying from Better Kitchens online. The quality is excellent, all good quality drawers, hinges etc and all comes pre assembled. They have a good design software section and the price was so much cheaper than elsewhere. I also priced up with DIY kitchens which was a good price as well but the delivery lead time was too long for me.
daddydaveFull MemberI bought a kitchen recently for my daughters new flat, looked at Wren, MKM, Howdens, DIY kitchen and eventually bought online from Better Kitchens. I am very impressed with the quality and the service, very solid pre built units including all the drawers and doors coming already fitted. The price was really good as well. They don’t do any appliances but thats ok. Bought the worktops from Worktops Express and they were great as well.
daddydaveFull MemberWe are in central Scotland, bit of a trek to West Yorkshire. Thanks for the advice so far. I will try Grahams tomorrow and see if their prices are better.
daddydaveFull MemberI had something similar a few years ago in an old house when we upgraded the main board to one with RCD protection instead of fuse wire. Every few weeks the RCD would trip on the ring main. Turned out to be a poor earth on the house, electrician installed a new earth spike external to the house and never had the problem again.
daddydaveFull MemberThanks for the replies, i have found out that i live in a conservation area and will have to apply for planning and possibly a building warrant. It’s going to take a bit longer than i thought. I am thinking the timber framed building is the best option and also considering making it myself from scratch. Has anyone made their own “shed” and did it work out much cheaper than buying one ready made.
daddydaveFull MemberSomething from this range should suit https://darlac.com/product-category/gardening-products/snips-scissors/

Looking at this website it does look like it is knotweed, they offer an identification from a picture but will no doubt then offer the eradication service as well.
good luck
daddydaveFull MemberI drove up from Garforth near Leeds last night and avoided the A66 by coming up to Newcastle and across the A69 to Carlisle. Didn’t add much time and is a good road most of the way. This should be quite on a Saturday morning as well.
daddydaveFull MemberWe just bought a Cavapoo nearly two weeks ago and he is a great little dog so far. He is 12 weeks old today and getting more cute everyday, more cheeky as well and growing with confidence. We did all the wrong things and bought him from someone on Gumtree, didn’t know the history of the parents etc but we have given him a good home and so far he is fine. Very good natured, sleeps through the night on his own and very playful.
We did look at re-homing a dog first but there wasn’t a bog choice locally with lots of staffies and older dogs with issues. I think that these cross breeds are actually giving a better gene pool and hopefully less issues.
He cost us £550 and as angeldust says this will be nothing compared to vets fees, insurance and toys for him over his life.
I am trying to post a picture but struggling to work out how. I might manage later.
daddydaveFull MemberCan you make the space a bit bigger and fit a plate warmer, they are roughly 140mm high and 600mm wide. An expensive way to fix it but at least it serves another purpose.
daddydaveFull MemberI use Nigella Lawson recipe which includes chorizo, coriander, cumin and chocolate but no coke. She recommends shin of beef and cooking it for at least three hours, its even better if you freeze it and reheat it again slowly a month or two later.
daddydaveFull MemberAgain I would vote for Sonos, easy to setup, good for multiroom use, works for multiple inputs such as TV or turntable. The only negative is the price compared to airplay. Once you have used Sonos you will be convinced.
The cheapest place I have seen Sonos is at the airport where you can get a Play 3 for about £215. Not much good if your not a regular flyer though.
daddydaveFull MemberWhat about a Whyte 901 or 905. They are both excellent bikes and you can pick up 2013 models with good discounts at the moment.
daddydaveFull MemberAnd friends has said that putting Vick Vapour rub on her daughters feet stopped her coughing all night. Don’t know if it works but worth a try.
daddydaveFull MemberIt depends what you use it for. If you want to browse the interest, send emails either on its own or bridged with your blackberry phone and play some games its a great device and is cheap. If you want full integration with itunes, thousands of apps and have spare cash buy an ipad or ipad mini. If cash is a concern then the blackberry is really good value, it glitches a little at times but still worth the money you can get it for.
daddydaveFull MemberI am reading and replying to this message on a PlayBook. As others have said the apps available are pretty useless unless you are 8 years old and like playing fruit slash and angry birds. Linked with a blackberry phone its a really good device and the camera and video quality is really good. Easy to set up and for £130 can you really go wrong.
daddydaveFull MemberI bought a £50 bufalo NAS drive that stores my I tunes folder with all my music on it. It was very easy to configure and I also have another hard drive that backs it up just in case. Because I am using my I tunes folder as the music source I also have another backup of my music files on my Ipod anyway.
daddydaveFull MemberI recently bought a sonos setup with a Play 3 for the bedroom and a connect amp for the existing speakers in the lounge. I cant reccomend this highly enough, you can play different music in each room from the same music libray or play the same in all rooms. You can connect up to 30 units together in one system which would even work in the biggest of houses. You can access internet radio, set alarms, connect your Tv through it and just about anything you can think of. It is expensive and addictive to connect multiple rooms but well worth the money in my opinion.
