“Remote learning can be really effective if the parents take an interest making sure the kids do the work and have understood it. Many of you parents are at home with your kids, take an interest, you might learn soemthing too.”

Thanks, I certainly take an interest. My question was mainly about how schools are likely to deal with it, not my personal situation.

Assuming schools are closed for the whole of the summer term (IMHO that’s fine if it needs to happen) does anyone have any idea how the practical aspects of children being out of school for 6 months are likely to be handled? I’m thinking mainly of Y7-10. How effective can remote learning be? Will they revisit/revise work from the summer term next September, or do they carry on in September as normal? Once they are prised from the xbox pale and pasty in September it will be a shock to get back to formal learning. Concerned parent here.

Is it correct that the M has a shorter top tube (583) than the S (592)?

I’ve been watching the live stream on youtube. A good perspective from the ebike camera, you really get an idea how quick the top riders are going.

I find it a useful site, adding data is very slick. It would be nice to search by measurement e.g. top tube longer than, head angle less than etc.

I’ve done dry January for a few years now and have always felt better for it but I looking at my heart rate data I was surprised to to see average resting hr down 11.5% and hr threshold up 12.5%, from Nov/Dec. So to answer the OP… yes it does.

You need to turn your privacy settings on… having said that mine are on, I will check later if it shows…

Wheres the strava route builder thingy?

I have enhanced privacy mode on, this address is “hidden”, and I am opted out of Heatmap/Metro. Could be from other riding buddies, but it seems a lot of data.

I find it equally satisfying and concerning that there is a bold orange line leading from/to my front door.

If you are considering Coimbra, have a look at the Lousã area. There are lots of trails in the Serra da Lousã mountains a particularly in the Miranda de Corvo and Gondramaz area. Prices are pretty low as it is off the beaten track. The road riding is pretty good as well.

How would this regulation affect small businesses?. It seems like it could be a real headache if you are a relatively small ecommerce outfit. Presumably mailchimp et al would manage much of the compliance for email marketing.

Between Porto and Lisbon you could look at Coimbra (medieval city), Condexia(Roman ruins), Montemor(medieval castle) and I’m sure there’s lots more on the history/culture side of things. Figuera de Foz, Nazare, Peniche, Ericeira for the beach/seaside.

I have had both XC50n and XC51n and I find them great year round shoes for the UK. The XC51m’s are still going strong at the 18 month stage which is 150ish rides, 3400miles. I had slightly colder toes with the XC51n’s over the winter, but it could just be me getting old.

I don’t think GPS is too accurate in steep sided woodland, which was a significant proportion of the route. My track is over 50m off where I rode in places.

I use an s-works version on the front over winter and it works very well in the loamy woody areas that I ride. Loads of grip and I feel confident to push it into corners.

Chakaping you are very right, it’s the value/risk thing.

My Pivot Mach 4, inspires and encourages me to ride places and things (up and down) that I never thought I could, then asks for more.

So what are the chances of the 11 speed XTR shifters and cassette working with a 10 speed mech?

I’m reckoning on a cassette splined 104 bcd spider. Job done and no machining of teeth required (and 42t chainrings are easy enough to get hold of.

Someone has had a go at this http://www.ruedasalacarta.blogspot.com.es/2013/08/xx1-y-bas-ss1.html

I’m looking at £300-400 range so a good range of RS Reba, Magura, DT Swiss to choose from most with QR. If going bolt through, the Reba with 15mm seems the best option.
