Thanks for the info. The sooner something’s done the better. It’s not even a case of just carrying a spare either, as sometimes other bits have been damaged as a result. It becoming hard to find places with the hangers in stock too.

Edit – My mate has been labelled ‘Mike the Mech Destroyer’, it’s got to the point where we’re all expecting it to happen on every ride!

It just seems to happen randomly. The last time I saw it break was when we were just moseying up a slight incline…I realise it may be getting bent/fatigued at other points on a ride though. I’m sure everything has been checked multiple times as well.

P.S. Yes I know that tubeless is probably the answer

FTFY! Failing that, have you put any talc on the tubes?

    Memory Map?
Edit – sorry, saw a link for it mentioning Windows phones…have since clicked link to see it’s not available yet!

Have Merlin not got an extra 10% off the moment? Anything I’ve bought lately has been from them, as the prices have either been the same or cheaper (with no extra discount).

This isn’t something I’ve ever come across unless the person who had done the job is unemployed.
If I was paying cash I’d be looking to save some money. I think standard practise is for them to bill for so much, to cover materials and so many hours, then to take some cash to benefit both parties…this works doubly well if the person paying earns a bit on the side too.

    Magic wand = acetone.
I got a small bottle from Boots. Just rub some on and be amazed! 😀

Do you race? If not, ditch the drinks, use water and eat dates, skittles, M&M’s, etc.

Chips taste better when eaten using your fingers instead of a fork.

You won’t get a half-decent pole trimmer for £200. I got a good deal on a Makita but it was 500 odd.
I can recommend the Stihl normal trimmers though. Mine’s only ever needed basic maintenance.

Chewkw – you’re one crazy hombre! Less of the ball flicking!? You’ll have the RSPCA on to you. 😀

Most of the German stores have the proper fluid. Try bikediscount.de…not sure what you’ll have to pay postage though.

Create a new notepad file, copy the text into that and rename with .gpx at the end of whatever you call it.

    d45yth

Can you not even view the file? If you can, just copy and paste it, save it with .gpx on the end and you have your GPX.
Not sure on copying to the 800 as I have an older model. I think it will just be a case of drag and drop into the correct folder on the 800.

I’ve just clicked your link and it downloaded straight to my phone!
If it’s the file that won’t work though, try converting in Gpsies.com or similar.

If you’re desperate to get shot, try eBay…I know it’s a sickener paying the charges, but at least you’ll get whatever someone’s willing to pay.

    🙂
Anyway, you could have done it non-automatically in the time you’ve spent on here!

Simple…screen grab them, then load them into a word processor or a DTP program in the order you want.

I’ve just read about that superglue tip…I just use plumbers PTFE tape instead, on both ends of the tube on the syringe.

Blobonastick – +1, you beat me to it. There are programs out there that can copy your Spotify playbills/folders into a non-Spotify one too, so you can then do what you want with them.

    Damon Albarn – Everyday Robots…
because it’s vastly different to the usual electronic stuff I listen to.

On another note, I can’t believe folk are paying for individual downloads. Just use Spotify, £5-10 a month instead. The only thing it’s not good for are dj mixes, but I just use Mixcloud or Soundcloud for those anyway. I can only see Spotify being a problem if you’re wanting the tracks on CD, there are ways around that though. 😉

Hell, I’ve been having a few problems myself of late, but reading about yours makes me think mine are nothing.
I don’t even have a family of my own, so can only guess what it must be like. Not sure what to say apart from I hope everything works out for you all.

Murf – I’d like to know the same. I’m now 35 and have been 10.5 for years. At one point I was making sure my morning bait, lunch and tea were a 1000kcal each, was having breakfast, snacks mid-afternoon, a few bagels with peanut butter before a ride and something before bed – this was when I was riding a lot more and I was actually losing weight!

Not much help, but when I looked into going to Peru I decided that Guatemala would be better.

The best riding in Peru is nowhere near Machu Picchu, somewhere I’d have wanted to go. Even though there was a trip in that area, it wasn’t of the same grade.

Also, some trips (in Peru) set off at such an altitude you don’t do any climbing in the first week while you get used to the low oxygen. That also means you’re often above the clouds…after seeing some images and videos of Guatemala it was no contest for me. Look up Lake Atitlan.

I can recommend J-Tech – I had my Talas 32 tuned, as well as having a volume spacer fitted to make it more progressive…it’s now way better than it ever was. All for £30 on top of the service price, £20 without the spacer.

Chris King do one. The top cup has an insert that is easily removed to step it down to 1 1/8th. Then the bottom is sorted out by using whatever size crown race (base plate) you need.
I’m sure Cane Creek do something similar too, maybe just not called the Double X. Have you tried the headset finder on their site?

Wordy admit it, you just wanted black stanchions.

I’ve tried two different kinds of Tracker’s. They’re alright but seem smaller than they used to be. If I had to choose, I’d go for the roasted nut.

I’d just wrote a long post on the pros and cons of each setup…I’ve just deleted it though, as I think you should go for stick!

As you’ll know, the only consumable is the rods themselves. Anything else and you’ll have to fight on with gas, reels of wire, tips or tungstens. I’d only recommend MIG if you’re working on cars or doing big jobs. TIG if you’re doing finicky stuff or want to weld stainless or aluminium.

I can’t recommend any particular equipment, as I was trained (many moons ago) on industrial stuff. I’d like an invertor, if only for them being handy for outdoor jobs, expensive though.

Coming from Taiwan? If so, I’d be surprised if you end up paying any tax, but consider would you be happy if you had to pay 20%.
You might have a £8.95 international handling fee if Parcelfarce end up delivering it though.

Northwind – I reckon the adaptor plus the Race Face stem I have will weigh about the same as the steel stem I’m replacing (I know what you mean though).
These failings you mention, are they more to do with the headset or is there some inherent problem with them? I’ll be using a Kona Impact headset if you were thinking I’d be needing spanners.

Thanks for the input. I think I’ll give one a go. As for not looking good, I guess I can minimise that if I keep it the same colour as the stem.

I’ve an old Garmin Edge 605. It’s done everything I’ve needed it to. Maybe you could pick one up secondhand?
I’d rather have it over the eTrex too, as it’s bike specific.

Edit – the older Edge’s don’t have an OS type map, but that shouldn’t be a problem if you’re following routes that have been saved to it.

Don’t bother with some name you might wish you never chose in a year or two. Just use your own name with what you do after it.

I’m more likely to use/trust someone who’s prepared to put their family name to their business.

Mtbtomo – buy Shimano sp-41 in 10m rolls and use any cheap stainless inners?
