There’s no need to go to your lbs. Just wrap a rag around the bleed point, loosen the bolt, then push the pistons back like you were doing and nip bleed bolt back up.

Edit – then wipe up any fluid with a wet rag.

Have they got a bite point adjust? If so, make sure it’s all the way out. If it already is or they haven’t got one, there’s too much fluid in the system.

Undo the top bleed point a little when you push the pistons back in.

All went well bar some pain when the anaesthetic for the right testicle didn’t go off, just felt like someone was flicking it

That was just Chewkw checking everything was going ok. He does it to his cat too. 😮

RRP (Rapid Racing Products) and BETD both do them as well.

That Perkier stuff looks nice. I’ll look at the other options too…except the bacon sarnie! 😀

CG, it can’t be gluten, as I each plenty of other grains, flour, etc.

Xcube, it’s definitely when I eat it. It’s took me more than a year to narrow it down…mainly because I was eating so many oat based products. I started having porridge every morning when I was out of work, then with the cereal bars and oat cakes when on my bike, it must have triggered a reaction.

I can be fine all day after eating some, but as soon as I start to sweat is when the itching starts (usually when I’m in bed). It becomes so bad, that I can’t sleep and have scratched myself badly enough to leave raw skin!

Now I don’t eat oats I’m fine. Even a small biscuit will trigger it now though, and I’d eaten oat products all my life without anything happening before?!

Edit – I do start to itch sooner after having instant porridge, but I think that’s just because the oats is ground finer than the ordinary stuff.

I’ll do a few taste tests and see what’s going to be best.

Jag, I wish I could get something in those instant pots – it’s the Quaker Golden Syrup ones that I used to use, but emptied into my own fold flat bags. The thing is, even if they were gluten-free, it can’t be that what I’m allergic to, as I eat all kinds of bread with no problems.

Unless the company doing the work has five employees or more, they won’t have a written health and safety policy.

Xcube, I’ll look into that stuff and see if I can come up with my own instant version. It’ll depend how long it takes to cook though.

DougD, do you mean tins of creamed rice pudding or the rice that it’s made from? If the former, I suppose I could use a tin when out for night. Past that though, it would be too heavy, as I don’t like to carry ‘wet’ food.

Dolcered, I’ll look in to that too.

Hustler, maybe I could do something like that, especially if I add something to make the milk more palatable (I won’t be carrying fresh milk about).

Thanks for all replies so far. I can see a trip to my local health food shop is in order. The hot weetabix could be a winner for how quick it will be to make too, maybe some syrup will liven it up.

I’m pretty sure the Risse Racing axle is your only (off the shelf) option…it’s what made me buy a set of ST’s instead back in 2010, as I already had a 15mm fork.

Edit – beaten to it by AndreyE

Only suggestion I can give is to find some folk who ride at a similar pace (or get quicker). It’s seems like some of your other problems can only be changed if you move!

Edit – I’ve seen a lot of lads pack mountain biking in and change to road bikes for the same reasons.

Just get the cable down to the rear brake hose by the most direct route, then cable tie it to that, and then along it. You don’t want to be drilling any holes near the headtube.

Jambalaya, you’re right, he would have. I just don’t think he wanted to retire, as he never saw himself as old. We got off lightly to be honest.

Ransos, what I failed to explain is that my dad still runs that business. The assets weren’t unearned income, my dad had spent lots on them too. After already paying higher rate tax, then high tax again on the rent from those properties, it stinks to have to shell out a few hundred grand on top of that.

Anyway, no one here can complain anymore. Nothing had to be sold off, and if the time comes to sell up, it’ll be for more than a few million. So, no violin needed. 🙂

Ransos, I was saying it partially tongue in cheek. Although, what made things complicated in my family’s case is that there was a business involved that’s been through four generations. Any properties that had been bought/built in the last 40 years had money spent on them and/or were worked on by more than the deceased…none of that was taken into account!
Banks accounts were frozen too, so that made things worse for the normal running of the business. Most of the problems arose from my Grandfather still being a partner in the business when he died at 78. If he’d retired at a normally expected age and handed everything over, most of the tax wouldn’t have been payable…so not really the fault of IHT.

🙂 I’m just bitter, as I’ve seen my family pay large six figure sums in IHT.

Edit – I should add that was done with their own money to save selling what they’d inherited.

Binners, you should be a politician spouting that bollocks. Do you not think that those with multiple properties worked hard and made sacrifices to be able to buy them? There has never been such a thing as affordable homes for the ordinary working man, or else everyone would have a few.

Anyone who has done this will have their own private pensions, will use private healthcare when need be and probably wouldn’t be seen dead on public transport either.

It would seem that those in favour of inheritance tax aren’t looking to receive a large inheritance then? Anybody who is, and will happily pay the tax because they think it’s right, is a liar.

I can’t understand your dislike of Spotify…it would save you shelling out a chunk of money and also the time of copying anything.
Between using Spotify and Mixcloud, I very rarely have to buy any music (I do pay £10pm for the former, but that’s a bargain).

Some of the best packed bikes I’ve seen have been in a cardboard box, with everything protected in pipe lagging and polystyrene sheets, then wrapped in clingfilm. Takes a while to do though.

I used to contract for the local council…their employees have done a mix of the above answers and more!

I’ve known some to sell the bike’s right away for a quick cash injection. As mentioned above, some stores just give out a voucher for anything in store…the council’s chosen store was Halfords, we used to joke about how some lads wouldn’t get past the alloy wheels!

Unless you’ve lots of money or are over a certain age you can’t just decide to go and live in another country, especially the USA.
You can go and work in Europe (if you’re European), anywhere else would need to be done with a work visa, so not permanent or might not be possible if you’re too old.

If you’re not wanting to do any video editing, my advice would be to wait until it becomes more popular.

A lot of display reviews haven’t been good, even the top end ones. Think back to what the first flat panel tvs were like, with blurring issues and whatnot.

Edit – Depending on what size monitor you’re looking at, if it’s not going to be big, what’s the point? You’re not going to notice much difference over normal HD if it’s going to be a smaller screen (more normal computer monitor sizes, rather than large TV).

Regarding the VG book, it’s possible to buy a PDF version. It’s much better if you haven’t a gps and want a print out of the routes instead of carrying the book with you.

Some of the riding around Lonscale Fell could prove disappointing if you’ve travelled far, and most rides around there don’t take 4 hours.

I think a lot can depend on the country you’re in. When I was in Morocco we were told what to tip the locals (van driver, cook and his mate) by the business owner…it wasn’t much to be honest, but were told it was a lot to them. Then the owner didn’t even want to accept an ice cream from me in the airport!

America is a different story though…everyone expects a tip.

The two pieces that are the same clamp around the hose after shortening so you can hammer the barb in…it’s quite hard to do it without.

The other piece is only used when bleeding, not transporting. You take the pads out so they don’t get contaminated. You only get one, as you only bleed one brake at a time.

Good stuff! I’ve been planning on doing it at some point, so it was good to read about your experience.

I had to laugh when I read this: “A much tougher route than I had anticipated.” I know most sections of it well, as they are all parts of my local rides. To give folk an idea of how much climbing there is though, it has more than double that of the Bear Bones 200 (6400m compared to 3000m)!

Good stuff! Hopefully I’ll get out and do it some year.

One of my mate’s is out there…the greedy **** and the rest of his group just rode the route rather than paying to enter. If they were badly off maybe I’d understand their logic?! 😕

Do you want to use a dropper post? If so, work out if the seat tube on the XL would be too long or not.
Ibis seem to give the seat tube measurement to the bottom of the post clamp, which then adds another half inch on! that makes the XL 21.5″! Ridiculous for the short top tube length (for an XL).

I can’t believe folk are recommending Crossmarks’…where do you all live, Spain?
I was once riding with one on the back and thought the bolts had come loose on my swingarm. Turned out it was the tyre sliding side to side with each pedal stroke! No grip on techy descents either.

Ignore the above and get a 6D from Portus Digital. He’s selling them for £949 with an extra year’s warranty.

Most folk on my uni course, including myself, have bought from them with no problems.

You don’t say whether you’re running tubeless or not? If you are, you might as well setup a 2.35 60a Minion, tubeless…you’ll save 1/4lb over a HR2 on the front, plus I think the edges on the Minion grip slightly better.

If it’s 1 1/8″, the tube from a hoover usually does the job.

I hate to say this, but if I’d dropped off a 10yr old bike and was now getting it replaced with a new one, I’d be absolutely buzzing!
