Get some Lyriks with the DH damper…you can get some cheap deals on the ones with 1.5 straight steerers.

Have a look on Biketreks’ website, they’re selling Pacific Outdoor mats with up to half off.

Looking at their maximum sizes, I know my bike bag is bigger than them.

I don’t think you can go wrong with PHD kit…I’ve got a Minim Ultra, even though it’s only rated to +8deg, I’m too warm when I wear sleeping clothes in it. Of course they do warmer bags too. I think they’ve put their prices up since I bought mine though!

Farmer guilty of damaging one of Derbyshire’s finest conservation sites

A Derbyshire farmer has been ordered to pay financial penalties totalling £18,710 and to carry out restoration work at his own expense, after admitting to carrying out un-authorised activities in an area legally protected for its rare geological features and upland habitats, within the Peak District National Park.

Robert Hall of Longnor, Buxton pleaded guilty to un-authorised ditch work and dumping spoil along the ditch edge, rush cutting and overgrazing at High Peak Magistrates Court on Thursday 1 March. His actions, within the Goyt Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) have resulted in significant damage to the interest features for which the site is notified.

This could be you OP!!! :P

The Cannondale Lefty SI isn’t the same as a normal 1.5″ setup. The inside diameter of the headset is slightly larger and the steerer is part of the stem, not the fork.

It’s not necessarily the internal diameter you have to watch, it’s more the headtube length. The distance between the clamps on a Lefty is about 137mm…so the HT plus headset must be no more than that. There is a Lefty XL, with a a larger gap between the clamps too.
If the HT is short enough your best bet will be to go for a ‘Lefty for all’ steerer or one from Project 321. Both of these are standard 1.125 steerers, meaning you can use whatever headset and stem you want.
Any other questions just ask…I’ve just bought a custom frame designed around a Lefty, so have just had to go through what you’re asking about.

It can often be the USB cable. I’ve had the same problem before. You might have a cable off something else…I ended using a PS3 controller cable.

Too much oil on your chain? I bought a bike which is painted pale blue on the inside of the chainstays…I couldn’t believe all the spots of oil on there after a ride! I’ve since changed to a thicker lube.

OP – I ran the same combo for quite a while…I found that they slice easily on loose rock and the front washes out easily on softer stuff.
High Roller, rear. Minion DHF, front. You could use the Minion F and R too. That’s where it’s at!

There’s a bloke here on Pinkbike by the same name. I thought he was selling the same fork but have just realised it was a Float he was selling.

Try http://forums.mtbr.com/bikepacking-bike-expedition/bikepacking-gear-bags-who-makes-em-766873.html. There will be some more stuff on MTBR too, about strapping waterproof bags to your seat if you get stuck. Bikepack would have been your best bet though.

how can you be 1st (or 43rd) if it wasn’t a race?

That’ll be why there’s prize giving afterwards then?

Fit riders with no skills…you know the ones when you’re doing a race/event, they pass you on the climbs, next thing you’re stuck behind them on the descents wondering what is wrong with them. You manage to get past them and then it all starts again on the next climb/descent!!! FFS :x

I went to Morocco with Freeride Morocco…although I already knew the owner/guide, everybody on the trip was easy to get on with. It was one of the best holidays I’ve had and it was quite cheap too!

If you’re looking for a race bike you’ll be looking for the lightest weight for your money are you? If so, have you looked into Giant or Specialized?

It didn’t feel like 31 miles because it was more like 28…I was expecting doing the Spout Force fireroad climb twice, not complaining that we didn’t though!

Apparently it was this bloke who invented them. He realised they carried more power when thrown if they were oval shaped. He discovered this after making a batch of pizza bases after he’d drunk 10 pints of lambic ale!

Are you sure your new BB is Pressfit30? Could it be BB30? I think that has a slightly smaller O/D.

I would go tomorrow if it wasn’t for the fact that my job would be terrible during the winter! It can be bad enough over here.

Ir Bandito – what didn’t you like about the Whinlatter Challenge? Was it the fact that you forgot to put your lights on your bike? If it takes you five hours to do the Borrowdale Bash, you’ll have been lucky to finish the Challenge in daylight, were you not?

What was the one about a bloke who got covered poop that flicked up from his front wheel and said “I didn’t know dogs ate sweetcorn?”?

I’ve found the answer to my own question! According to the bloke who wrote this article on Art’s Cyclery Blog, he reckons you can use ordinary BB spacers as normal on the Sram adapter…I might as well give it a go. :D

A lot of the appeal for it at the moment is that a lot of normal 26″ bikes can be converted to 650b. I don’t know how this affects mud clearance though?
I’ve just bought a frame that is designed specifically for it! I hope I can still get tyres for it in 12 months time.

Stew – That Raceface adaptor isn’t exactly what I was looking for, it would do for now though…how much are you wanting for it?
What I was really after was something that would let me use my Chris King BB, I haven’t had the best of luck with Raceface’s offerings in the past…maybe the newer ones are different?
Cheers.
(EDIT – Just checked again and realised your adapter is for BB30 (42mm dia.). PF30 is 46mm. All these different standards are getting to be ridiculous!!!).

I’d go for the new ‘Arch EX’. You don’t want Crest’s if you’re doing jumps or drops.
