Try the CK Fun-Bolts, not cheap for what they are but they made a difference to my old Tracer.
Winstanleys have them with 20% off, not in stock but they usually got hold of CK pretty quick. That price is cheaper than what you’d pay in the US!

No, it’s just we could have sent you/pointed you to some GPS routes.

That myog pouch/cosey in the pic up there.

Shouldn’t the foil side be on the inside.

Ha, it’s got foil on both sides of the bubblewrap!

Kunstler – It’ll be fine if that’s what your used to riding, the main Torridon ride is mostly smooth and only has two big descents. You might lose a few fillings on the last one though, going down to Anat. :D

I’m pretty sure they must sell milk as they sold those mini boxes of cereal. Apart from the DIY, frozen microwave meals, it was more like a tuck shop than a general store though.
I’ve just done a search for shops in Torridon though and it turns out there is the Torridon Stores & Cafe!
I didn’t notice it while I was there, but we didn’t get there til after tea so maybe it was closed. Here’s their email if you want to check with them: jo@torridonstoresandcafe.co.uk

Have a look on Subnav. There should be plenty to dig through. You might be best clicking through the DJ’s first, as there’s quite a few genres of music on there and no way to pick which type.

Too true! I once had the worst wind of my life after having some…it was vile! (The wind, not the soup). :D

So I flew out to Morzine on Sunday along with the Mrs and two bikes, arrived late at Geneva as Easyjet couldn’t get the bikes on the plane in the time required before takeoff!

Was that not your fault for not getting to the airport early enough?

To properly enjoy it, take a 140/150mm full suss (minimum)

I don’t agree with the ‘minimum’ part, I would change that to ‘would be best’…you can end up putting in some long rides with big climbs and hike-a-bike.

If you don’t mind roughing it a bit (gite accommodation), I’d recommend Morocco. More of an adventure than a euro trip.

is the fist dimension the shell size and the second the spindle length?

Yes, I think you could use the 2nd or 5th. The 2nd one must come with some spacers, like what you would use on an external bearing BB.

Is he getting MPH and KPH muddled up? My brother in law used to race DH and talked of going 60-70MPH, I just rolled my eyes.

Very steep hill and a road bike? If so, it’s doable if you’ve got the balls.

I find my epic avid kit slightly annoying because the fittings that screw into the bleed ports don’t have a larger knurled section for you to grab onto to tighten them. Just mean using some needle nose pliers to tighten/release if I don’t want to leek fluid everywhere.

This might work out better if you’ve got more than one brand of brakes to bleed…I already had the proper Avid kit, but had to cut the knurled part off one of the syringes so it would fit my Formula’s.

I think the one thing that could sicken you with your trailer could be the amount of drainage ditches on any singletrack routes! They’re not too bad on a normal bike but I’m guessing they’ll want to eat your trailer wheel?

I don’t waste my time boiling/simmering food, it also uses loads of fuel too. I rehydrate my food in a ‘Pour and Store’ bag, placed inside a DIY pot cosy (made from foil-backed bubble wrap). Couscous is ideal, pour hot water on, place in pot cosy and wait a minute or two. I then put a pouch of ‘Tuna with a Twist’ on top. If you’re only using hot water to re-heat things you haven’t much washing up to do either.

    MYOG pouch in background.

As far as I know there is no shop in the village, I was only there a month or two ago as well. There’s the Torridon Inn which is nice for a pint or bite to eat. You could also try the Youth Hostel, it has basic supplies…there is a free campsite next to this with a free hot shower too.

Have you got a GPS? If so, have a look at MTBtrails.
Here’s a link to the trip I had there in May (on MTBR).

Although I haven’t been up there recently, some of my mates said half of what had been done to it, had already washed away! That was a couple of months ago too. Hopefully it’s back to its old self.

Never mind that, where’s the bars!
I’ve heard they’re going to be looking into making a dropper post…sales of their normal one’s must be falling.

PeterPoddy – 1) if I have 3 months and 21 days tax left, I VERY MUCH doubt I’ll get a full refund on it.

No, but you’ll get 3 months worth.

I know a few folk who have gone and got a £1000 bike on the CTW scheme, then sold them right away! They just see it as a loan opportunity…theft would be their excuse if anything is said about it.

Just because you can use a certain width tyre on a rim doesn’t mean that you’re getting the best tyre profile with it. What kind of riding are some of you lot doing anyway, using skinny, lightweight XC rims with chunky trail tyres? I’ve seen quite a few Crest rims that have folded in half, by not that heavy riders, here in the Lakes.

Don’t Ikea do their big, blue bags with a zip on now? They’d only cost a couple of quid.

    d45yth

I don’t know why you don’t get the Crest’s…they’re slightly wider, have a lower profile and only weigh 10g more.

I use Time pedals, which have always been said to be good for bad knees. I think Ribble have always had the best deals on them.

There’s some good trails down Grizedale way, I wouldn’t really bother with the North Face though with the amount of decent, natural stuff there.
Something a bit closer to Kendal would be Staveley, there’s a route that goes over Gaburn Pass that would fit the bill.
    Have you got a GPS?

I remember seeing someone who hadn’t had them before, tilt their head back while holding one nostril closed and pour some in the other nostril!!! This was in a busy pub on a Saturday afternoon…the place was in uproar after realising what he’d done.

Herman Shake – That guy in the Crocs is disturbing!

That’s Bikerfox! If you think that pic is disturbing, the one’s on his website are 10 times worse! He thinks he’s some kind of role model for kids too. If had kids myself, I wouldn’t let them anywhere near an oddball like him!!!

Realcycles have them in red, green or white.
If you search for ‘Oury bonus pack’ on ebay, you can get them from the US for about £23 inc. p+p.

Did you try a different cable first? I had a lot of connection problems with mine and thought it was the plug on the unit. I tried the cable from my PS3 though and its been fine ever since!

A tidy option would be those long, glass shelf supports you can get from most DIY shops.
    A bit like these:

    or you could use these:

It will be easier to do if you’ve got solid walls. If they’re plasterboard make sure you get the right plugs.
I had a few old frames I was going to hang at different heights from a vaulted ceiling. The frames were worth too much to keep for that though, so I sold them instead. :(

If you’re that bothered about the pinch punctures, put another 5psi in your back tyre. Lift your front wheel over them and let your back wheel go light if you can’t jump them.
I found the one’s near Glenfeshie and the hundreds that are up near Torridon, quite rideable. A lot easier than some of the one’s we have here in the Lakes…it seems like those who created them, made them bad for bikes on purpose!

Looking at those in the link, they should be fine as they’re actually machined…it’s the one’s that have been pressed or forged that are made from monkey metal.
