I’ve seen that happen when the seatpost collar is done up far too tight.

Nevermind Science, more English Language needs to be taught – I recently went to uni as a mature student and couldn’t believe how bad most other students’ written English was/is (this was on an Arts degree)!
This post was originally a lot longer but thought I should keep some of my views to myself.

I’ve just sold a washing machine on there – I thought the anonymous email seemed strange but it worked fine.

One Stop Digital? Price looks good, plus I know folk who have had good warranty experiences with lenses they bought from there.

I was going to post some links to a few of the Forgotten Treasures mixes over on the Music is my Sanctuary website – there is much more on there that’s also worth a listen though, like some of the 24hrs of Vinyl mixes.

Edit: I usually listen to them through Mixcloud instead of the website.

Whinlatter?! This is what’s wrong when tourists come to Cumbria!
There’s excellent trails, as mentioned, from Pooley Bridge, plus loads around High Street. Then there’s also the other side of Ullswater, up and around Helvellyn. Even getting closer to Keswick there’s Lonscale Fell and other rides from either Mungrisdale or Threlkeld. Then Keswick, the Borrowdale Bash! All closer to Whinfell than Whinlatter!
Whinlatter has its place, but surely you’d rather experience the Lakes instead of a man-made trail centre?

Martinhutch – if you’ve a smartphone, use the app and stream via Bluetooth – it takes me a few seconds to start playing and of course the phone is the remote too.

The last time I had some buffering issues was when there had been a major update for my phone – obviously you might not be using your phone for streaming, but try a different device if you can to make sure it’s not that.

You definitely need to be near the motorway with your work area. I live in Cockermouth and get sick of having to drive to Carlisle or Penrith to get on it, especially during work hours when you usually get stuck behind something. Tomaso’s leftfield suggestions made me laugh – unless you worked at Sellafield, I don’t think many would chose either of those unless you were from those parts (especially Frizington).

Is it one of the these?

Cheers for the reply. I must have already been on the way to the shops when you posted it. I ended up with the Neo Stretch – as it was a good fit and was also half-price. I’ve been for a long walk tonight and the main I noticed was how quiet it was compared to my old crisp packet.

Funkydunc – there’s no need to plug a PC into your Tv. I stream everything from my phone…choosing what I want to watch and then playing it takes a few seconds. I have a few options to control it but my phone is the most convenient.

Edit: even if you had to buy a cheap tablet to use as a remote instead. It would still be a nice interface to use and way cheaper than Sky.

The funniest thing about the whole MP expenses thing is that most folk would do the same if they had chance.
Nearly every place I’ve worked people have tried to gain a bit more money anyway they could. Either claiming as much travel money as possible or leaving work off the job sheet and adding it on to Saturday’s so you could sneak home early. You might say that’s peanuts in comparison to what MP’s have claimed, not when it’s done by 1000’s across the country it isn’t!
Even when I did jury service, we were told to go and buy a ticket from the most expensive car park in town on the first day, then claim that amount the whole time you were there…everyone there did it and most folk weren’t even in their cars.
The kind of folk who are too honest to do such things would most likely be the jobsworths that no one likes. :-)

Regarding what folk are mentioning about getting stuff delivered to a different address – can you just use PayPal and register the address with them?

I can think of many things that should be done to someone who does something like that…a slap isn’t one of those and putting them down is too good for them too!

I haven’t got a Tv aerial up at the minute, so only use Netflix and iPlayer streamed to the TV using a Chromecast (£25)…it works well for me because I only put tv on watch something now, instead of it just being left on.
I see you mention multi-room – the cheapest Netflix HD package is £6.99, but it also includes the ability to watch on two different devices. I’m not sure what more expensive packages offer as it’s ages since I signed up.

There’s a reason they’re so heavily discounted. Don’t buy something just because it looks a bargain.

I’ve just been reading about Gemini Rue, which is supposed to be good.

To the folk mentioning not keeping their tracker contracts going – if something gets stolen, recovered and repaired on the insurance, your premium will go up a lot less than if they have to replace.

Only consider American stuff really or things that are in a sale – anything else isn’t necessarily cheaper…a lot of Americans buy from Chain Reaction.

Firepits are great, especially when you’re trying to get it going and the wind changes direction.
They’re one of the stupidest things I’ve seen, more so the ones that are built in situ.
I’ve seen folk burn themselves on gas-bottle stoves, but at least that’s just been a finger or palm. If it’d been a firepit involved I guess they might have been on top of it! (yes, drink was involved!)

I can’t weigh the bloke up…obviously talented, comes across well, but why he needs to dress as a child’s doll is beyond me. Transvestites’ are one thing but dressing like he does is creepy.

Can I ask why you’re wanting the logo’s etched, is it just so they’re harder wearing than when they’re normal stickers? I think the white logo’s on a Moots are what make it look like a Moots, and the polished ones look cheap (I know they’re anything but).
The stickers on my old Litespeed were very poor, so I had the frame blasted and replaced them with some made out of decent stuff.

Start in the Castle then, Ton. Ales will be £2 until 6.30, then you can move on before they put shite music on and it fills up with young ‘uns (just because it’s Friday). All the other pubs attract an older crowd. And I know it’s not a real ale, but I had a great pint of Erdinger in 1761 the other night.

It’s a lot less than 5 years since my mate was getting stuff from them. I’ve just texted him to see what’s happened, he just says they’re not making at the moment…whether that means they will be again, I don’t know.

Honeybadgerx – The bottling operation separated from the pub and moved to a small industrial estate…I’m not sure if it’s still on the go or not. I know a bloke who used to get what was left over from brewing to feed to his horses.

The Bitter End isn’t really a drinking pub these days. It used be great but they did away with the seats at the bar and tried to serve fancier food…it’s never really recovered.
There’s the Castle Bar in Market Place – if you’re there through the day most ales are £2 a pint!
The 1761 is opposite there – I like it but they have a lot of guest ales on, so it’s just luck if they’ve got what you like.
There’s also the Bush on Main Street which sells lots of the local brewery’s ales.
I should say that I live in Cockermouth and won’t drink in many places due to what beers they sell.

One thing people seem to be missing out is house maintenance. The earlier you retire the more you’ll have to do/need to replace.

Egf – I knew a bloke like that. We nicknamed him the pied piper…he just had to smile at them and they’d follow, giggling like daft kids. He had a different woman everynight, but had to move when they started bumping into one another outside his house!!!
