Stick with Maxxis! Try a 2.35 Minion DHF in 60A folding.

I left my job last year to go to uni, aged 34. The main thing would be if you can afford to do it. If so, and you need the qualification to do what you want, have you any other choice?

I’ve been enjoying my course but have realised I don’t need a degree to do what I want! I’m still going to stick with it though.

Bike Bulgaria, you may want to change the link from your STW profile…it goes to your old site.

Freeflow bikes have them, as I’m sure plenty of others will have.

Are you looking at the open-bath Floats? If so, like you’ve been told they are only available with the 1.1/8th steerer. You can get tapered ones with the RC2 damper though (which would be cheaper than a 36 Talas).

I find my tyres act as sacrificial components usually on Castle Crag

Most folk I ride with and myself use a mix of Maxxis’ 2.35 tyres (set up tubeless)…it’s rare that any of us ever have a problem on there. I have wrecked lots of other brands tubeless tyres on there though!

I never have and I’m not about to start. 😀

It depends. Was the freehub still stiff before you tightened everything back up? If so, you’ll know that’s it’s just the bushing (will either wear in or you could take some emery tape to it). If it spun freely (which it should have with a non-oversize bush), you’ve either missed the washer out or tightened things up too much.

I’ve never understood folk using the share option to get the code (unless you want people to be able to go to your flickr page). I just view the image in the size I want, copy the image location (right-click) and insert that between the IMG tags on here.

You’ll be fine…it would seem that you can even use strong stuff within your house. 😐

There’s plenty of guides here on the web!

I can recommend these for such situations:

    Genuine Innovations, tubeless tyre plugs

The house is bog standard semi-detached the slate roof does not really add to the character at all.

Do you live in a conservation area? If not, a decent roofer could replace the slate with tiles and use the value of the slate to offset the price of the work. A lot will depend on the quality of the slate. One of my mates’ does a lot of this type of work on farms/barns…that’s for high demand, Buttermere slate though.

I know beauty is supposed to be in the eye of the beholder, but some of the bikes that have been posted on here are shocking! 😕

Tempted on the Maxxis High Roller LUST 2.35s.

    Anyone running the same?
I use one on the rear and a Minion 2.35 on the front (non-tubeless tyre, setup tubeless). I’ve had the least trouble with these out of every brand I’ve tried.

I’m happy with mine, as they have better feel and are way lighter than what I was using before. The only criticism I have is that the organic pads should come with a warning…I had to cut a wet ride a short, as they just didn’t work!!! I now use the sintered ones and they’re spot on.

Thanks for the heads up on this book…I bought the last one for my evening meal ideas, but only use the breakfast and snacks from it.

Sainburys have it on pre-order for £15, that’s my nectar points spent. 🙂

No vat is to be added.

Unless you’re buying some extras, they’re just over £1250 inc VAT from R-Tech direct. Link

Are you sure the above price hasn’t already got the VAT added?
I used to use ESAB and Murex TIG sets, they were a lot bigger than the size of what you’re looking at though.

Cheers folks. Seems I am going a bit over the top with mine.

There’s no harm in going OTT. Folk always laugh at me and think I’m too precious about my bike due to the way I pack it…I’d much rather be like that, than arrive on my holiday with a damaged bike, especially in more remote places where there’s no decent bike shops.

Have you seen this: SRS Microsystems

Four grand! I just can’t get my head round that.

You should’nt need anyone to convince you to spend that much…it’s something you’re either prepared to do or not. Don’t listen to a thing anyone in a shop says, do the research yourself and make your own mind up. Try and ride a few demo bikes too.

How about wash everything at 30 without fabric softener and re waterproof as necessary.

+1, use non-bio and only re-proof when you think it’s not doing its job any more. 🙄

going to uni keeps you out of looking for work in a recession, and hopefully increases your odds of finding work if we’re still boned in 3/4 years, and if it turns out it doesn’t well that’s fine as you won’t need to repay the student loan.

I’m currently at uni and every mature student I meet seems to be there for the above reason!

IMO, Walla Crag is essential to the Bash as it cuts out a large chunk of road work

I would say it depends on what the weather has been like…it’s an absolute s%$%fest when there’s been lots of rain.

I don’t know how long ago you’re talking about? I’ve taken my bike with Easyjet a few times over the last couple of years and it’s been a maximum of 32kg everytime.

I don’t know what kind of taste buds some must have on here…the Old Keswickian is the worst chip shop I’ve ever been in! I’d forgot how bad it was and ended up there not long since, the chips were green, the sausage was fake (smoked) and didn’t taste how it should have! I promptly threw them in the bin and and went to the other chippy down the road.

EDIT: I may have imagined it, but do the employees in there wear white welly boots? 😯 😕

I’d once considered this, then thought what’s the point? I’d much rather buy the best/most suitable parts to fit a budget, regardless of who makes them.

I like the Gore Alp-X ones. Comfy and they have thicker, more abrasion resistant material in the right places. They last ages…I have 3 pairs I’ve bought over a couple of years and would struggle to tell which pair are the oldest.

If you think something’s wrong, get them sent back under warranty. I wasn’t happy when I first got my current Fox fork…sent them back and it turned out something had been put in ‘on the piss’! Had them back in less than week and then they were spot on.

EDIT: Since Fox started using SKF seals, they now take less time to bed in (less than 30hrs!).

Have you tried different brands of tubes too? I’ve had some in the past that were terrible for the valve stems coming off (A brand beginning with B being the worst!).

is there a new one out soon?

Not that I know of. Ibis are bringing out a new model or two but they’re not replacements for the HD.

    Godzilla…it was a HD 140 I ended up buying! 😀
