I had my Inline upgraded to the IL by TF Tuned – it was a big improvement, but I’m not sure how much that was to do with the upgrade or the settings TF recommended. I’d rather buy from TF just for that reason.
I’ve had no problems with mine, except that it’s shown my fork up so I now want work done on that!

Ben – my shock just uses standard 12.7mm bushes. I’ve just reused them to fit my old Fox shock whilst my other’s away. I saw that the Norglide ones are now available in this size though.

Captainsasquatch – if the album had been a signed Telly Savalas one I’d have dropped it off tonight!

It is, deadkenny, but the top part is chrome. It’s bigger and heavier than it looks in the photo.
I bet loads were thrown away out of offices in the 80’s. They were pitched as being for outdoor use, too, but I bet the chrome soon rusted.

Thanks for the other replies/offers, etc. I’m not sure whether to eBay it or find a corner for it! I’d be kicking myself if I accept an offer on here and then see another for a lot more.

Thanks for all the extra replies. I’ll have a weigh up. I might be in touch captainsasquatch.

Thanks for the replies. I can’t find any trace of one being sold, either on eBay or anywhere else – frustratingly, you can now buy a print of said chair, so that often pops up instead.
Taxi25 – I think that’s what I’m going to have to do. Cheers.

I just want to say beware of self-diagnosis or being told you’ve got something by people that don’t really know. Ignore the online tests, too, they’re just a tool to use alongside other methods.

I was asked if I was an Aspie by a couple of people, was told to do online tests by a doctor, got sent for an assessment, etc. Only to be told I wasn’t. Then, a while after, was diagnosed with ADHD.

I had no problem returning something. Have you downloaded the return form? It has plenty of options for returning, exchanging, etc.
The information on their website about contacting you them first is wrong.

I think I must’ve have been through the woods each time I’ve done it – I haven’t passed any farm or buildings.

‘Ireland’s Gauntlet’, at least that’s what I think it’s called on Strava. A section off a fell, near Ennerdale – I’ve heard of people being told by the farmer there to turn around and go back. He used to be a doorman in Cockermouth a lot of years ago… I know a few lads who’ve had a good kicking from him!

Boxelder – I didn’t know about the farmer before seeing this thread. Is it as bad of a situation as ‘Ireland’s Gauntlet’?

Simon – I did it two days ago and it was fine. There were some bags of stone near the top but once past them it was plain sailing. I’d been warned about the drainage ditches that have been put in but found them all rideable.

Nwmlarge – I wouldn’t be doing that to the bikes I’ve been looking at!

Anyway, thanks for the replies. I’ve managed to find a large, so it looks like I’m going to manage.

1timmy1 – it will indeed, thanks.

It looks like I’m out of luck, so will have to decide on a 100mm drop or a smaller frame.

Same here – I hope we’re not after the same bike!

If the seller had a contact number you’d have seen the bit you click to get it to appear.

Thanks for all the info. I’m as confused as ever though, because the bike I’m thinking of buying is supposed to be a ’15 model but has the painted on SC man?!

Dovebiker – thanks for that. I’m not quite 40 yet, and I’m hoping to be fitter and do more in my 40’s than I ever have. All the other posters had me worried!

Don’t miss out on the descent from Sty Head if you’ve never done it before! The majority of the trail between Sprinkling and Sty Head isn’t too shabby either.

The other way you mention must be the one that goes down Grains Gill. I’ve never heard anyone I know talk about riding it – I’ll try and find out about it.

Tredz? You’d be able to get £5 off if it’s your first order too.

I went and checked a few cameras out this afternoon – I wanted to like the G5x, as the flip-out screen would be handy when using a gorillapod, but I found the buttons fiddly and the evf eyepiece makes it chunkier than the LX100.
The handling of the LX100 felt spot on, and after looking at the 4k photo mode, was sold… as I think that will be good on group rides. :D

Lots of interesting points! Dobo has hit the nail on the head with the ‘no camera ticks all the boxes comment’. I’ve decided I definitely want a zoom lens, and nearly decided against a compact too – BUT, I’ve got to remember why I sold my DSLR in the first place.

I think I’m going to give the LX100 a go after all, just making sure a I buy from somewhere that will sort any problems out quickly. I’d been going to get a grey import for about £350, but I guess the saving’s not worth it. The shop price still leaves enough in my budget for some decent accessories anyway, speaking of which: do many of you bother with very lightweight tripods (when biking)?

Rik – I might have been interested, but the reasons I like the camera seem to be for use outside of what I’m looking for.

Thanks for the input everyone. I’d started to write replies to what’s been suggested, but have got sidetracked reading up on some of those, as well as some other options!

Miketually – I’m pretty sure quinoa is the only grain to contain all eight amino acids. As you mention though, great for veggies – anyone else may as well just eat eggs.

Depending on how old and frail your neighbour is, you may want to suggest trying her back door.

Use a website like Parcelmonkey or Interparcel – they will give you a list of options.

Scotroutes – like you, I thought my old Shimano winter boots had lasted years so would replace with the newer ones… Like the op, though, found they started dropping to bits after one winter.
I’ve had other Shimano shoes come apart too, plus the sizing changed. I’ll won’t be buying anymore!

The country codes you mention are just icons – look at your smilies/emojis or whatever you want to call them, there’s a full alphabet in the last menu.

I replaced all my windows with grey ones – it was what held up my whole renovation job by a couple of months!

I looked at plastic originally, but the only company that makes the frame material without a woodgrain effect (in grey) is Rehau. My local seller, with the best reputation, wouldn’t sell me any because even though there’s a 10 year guarantee on them, there’s only 5 years on the colour-fastness.

I was then going to go for aluminium, but again, the places that sold them said I’d be a idiot to pay a premium for them when the cheaper options were better (insulated, at least).

I was then going to get aluminium-clad wood, but the leadtime was too long as I’d already started knocking my house to bits.

I ended up with Accoya wood (painted with ral7015), which is supposed to last for 50 years… I’ll have to wait and see!

Edit – the best option is alu-clad wood made by the likes of Rationel and Nordan. I’m happy with what I’ve got, but of course they are going to needed painted once in a while.

Have a look on Sklar Bikes instagram account – he built himself one using the rear from a SC Tallboy. There might be pics on the website, but it was his own personal project so maybe not.

A few custom builders used to offer frames with Ventana rears, but I guess the main reason for that was licensing.

    Good luck with it anyhow.

I should have stayed well clear of this thread! My dad’s just been diagnosed – apparently he must have had it for years, as it’s now too bad to operate on and has also spread to his bones (looks like he’s going to be having plates and whatnot screwed in his hips).
God knows what’s next, as he’s still got to go for more tests/scans. Absolutely gutted is a major understatement.

Anyone wondering whether or not to go for tests, get yourself there. My dad would probably be taking drugs for prostitis and still wouldn’t have been diagnosed if he hadn’t have gone for a second opinion (and took the offer of a fast-track screening from that).

I’m not sure ‘good luck’ is the right thing to wish anyone dealing with cancer, but I’m not sure what else to put.

Have a look at Portus Digital – Still imports, but UK based. Prices are usually only £10-20 dearer than the likes of the site you’ve mentioned.

Thanks for the offer, but as much as I know I’d like it, I definitely won’t be going full-fat (or getting a bike that has the capability of becoming one).
It is good to hear someone like yourself sing the praises of them though, as I know you don’t mince the descents. Most other folk I know that are recommending them either aren’t quick or have never had a decent full-sus. The ones who are/have and also have any bike I’m considering still wouldn’t give up their full-sus’!

I think he might mean the ‘boost’ front. It would definitely limit suspension fork choices, at least at the moment.

Hey! Have some of you forgot the title of this thread! You’re supposed to be talking me out of wanting one, although I seem to be doing a good job of that myself. :D
