Sure? 1mm play at the 34T cog would be acceptable to me. You can see the cassette moving on the freehub?

cassette moving on freehub or cassette “amplifying” play in freehub?

Surely it comes capable of being joined – i.e. with the joining pin in the chain…and without spare joining pins?

Seems what one should expect of OEM if you ask me.

Soem fol “getit” some folk just can’t.

IMO the tough bit is getting it true and round – if you can true a wheel you can manage this. Lacing can confuse you if you don’t follow instructions.

Give it a go if you feel you can do it. Use the proper lube on spoke threads and nipples.

Brant, I’d avoid trail centres, they are full of on-one riders.

TJ have to say I think you are on another planet if you think that is reasonable for a bike mechanic.

You should see what I charge out at!

Lance should go into politics, the yanks would love it.

Love how he creates the “cancer is tragic I’m fighting it blah blah” puff of smoke to deflect from his meaningless answer.

Anybody know of “male” counsellors of that nature?

You are kidding? You are as clueless about this subject as you are about what else to do about it.

People like you are precisely why I’m rarely here these days.

Shortly to be “got the gear no idea(r)”

How on earth can you buy something so specialized for a purpose you will not divulge, on other people’s opinions?

I fancy a new camera, will keep an eye on classifieds…

“XT hub, 4 days in the Alps and needed a new axle.”

Bad luck or poor maintenance. I’ve run shimano for 20 years without a ride ending issue.

Have seen Ck hubs die on rides though.

Oh and it then sounds like I should also fire some insulation into the 4″ void between the external wall and its new plasterboard?

    cynic-al

Thanks all – I don’t mind ripping the ceiling down as the room is bare (no flooring, units etc) so the mess is fine, and would save me lowering the ceiling/creating a new framework of 3×2.

There’s a 1′ void to the roof (which is adjacent to and “breathes into” a pitch roof/attic space) so I’d thought I could fire up proper loft insulation into that then just fire plasterboard on existing battens – gotta be better insulation than 30mm of polystyrene etc (which can’t be a great fire risk for insurance purposes?).

Thing is I should really do the same to the other 2 rooms under the flat roof – I’ve just had the ceiling papered in the larger of them…

They must work better than a track pump. I use a compressor, even that is a PITA sometimes.

You are doing the whole soapy water thing? (with the tyres that is, though you should try it with the Mrs also)

I went for non-fancy phone with a decent camera, gps (N82) and a ipod touch separately.

I’d prefer not to have a £350 device in my pocket when I’m out, I want a decent phone, and I reckoned one device doing all these functions is going to have sh*t e battery life.

IME pertex is not “breathable” enough to be of any use in decreasing sweat when cycling, although that goes for all the fabrics I’ve tried bar windstopper (I’ve not tried expensive new fancy fabrics though)

What Matt said about who instructed you for the work. Up to you whether/how you chase them but I’d put a bit more effort in before passing to debt collectors. If you p1ss them off for chasing them then they are not worth having as clients IMO.

Payment terms are also industry-specific, for example in my work it can take 2-3 months to get paid (By insurers), and that’s just the way it is. 10 weeks sounds long though!

If you have played with an iphone, I don’t think any other device even comes close in terms of the touchscreen (perhaps apart from the G1?).

Use google, I think there’s an irumours website. Not heard anything about a new iphone tho.

I just got a mount welded on to my touring forks – but when I did look around there didn’t appear to be very much on the market.

I am glad I got my dropouts rotated to forward facing – I’ve had a wheel come out on non-lipped forks and I wouldn’t want it to happen on the road (yes my fault for not tightening the qr but I’ve had folk tamper with my bike when locked before inc. loosening qrs)

Anyway, discs on the (winter or commuter) road bike are the way ahead IMO (or where you’re riding in crappy conditions), been using mine for 5 years.

simon – internals are likely to be fubarred, and good luck rebuilding yours, conventional freewheel type freehubs/freewheels are notoriously difficult to rebuild.

OP – you can get a tool called a freehub buddy that purges the internals with grease. Your lbs might have one. There used to be deliberate differences between freehubs so you coldn’t use cheaper ones on XT and xtr.

The size will be on the existing seatpost. Replace with like. If you don’t have one then go to a shop and get it measured or try a few.

They are in 0.2mm increments for a reason.
