I would start by comparing saddle height and saddle position relative to the bottom bracket.

Then check saddle to bar drop as it’s possible your weight is further forward and your sitting on your bits.

Get the tape measure out and check how close it is to your regular bike

Do both bikes have the same saddle?

Just throw your bottle into the hedge whenever you drain it and use a new one each time you go out. Very europro

Internals got wet on mine, and it ended up intermittent. it did put up a reasonable fight, but didn’t last long in the wet

Cheers guys, I have done all that plus Petra cycles. But cant find a part number for the specific cone, it just seems to be part of the whole axle unit

you could just replace the side that has crossed.

A wtd ad on here might help?

yeah, spend a bit more and go discs. It will provide better pay back as you wont need to change the pads after every ride.

Not hugely well liked on here, but I found a trailraker to be high volume and pretty good round Stanmer – fine on my rigid.

Combined with a narrow rear tyre.

I have gone across to Mud-X front and rear this year though.

club mate rides On-One Chunky Monkey, he really rates these.

Just had a quick look and most are 2 bolt now, which doesnt really help you.

Probably easiest to pop a wanted ad on the forum.

Most of the FSA ones have this, actually most single bolt systems use this.

My ritchey one has 2 bolts and is infinetley adjustable, but seems quite happy to adjust saddle position at random.

Cheers everyone, it is for general riding/commuting, not racing.

    Plenty of options to consider.

Funny enough, my Smart Sams have been superb on the South Downs, though they get quite exciting on short wet grass. But they seem to be struggling with one section, where I have had 4 punctures in 5 days. I think there is some sharp broken flint they cant cope with.

I hope to commute off road this winter and I’m not sure the smart sam will cope very well with wet chalk, so will consider the other options.

My car was stolen from a local pub, I got a call from the police saying it had been found a few miles away.

Nothing missing, no damage all was fine. Though the thieves kindly left me a swiss army knife.

Ben, assuming it cant be moved it and that its completely level, can you see any reasons to not ride it?

Just don’t. If nothing else the geomotry will be wrong. If it does seat, the headset will go loose.

Dont ride it until its fixed properly.

I really rate the Honey (14″ version of the Melody) we got for my little one. So far faultless. Strong enough that I can ride it but not too heavy.

That said, the IslaBikes do seem to hold their value if you look after them.

Hargroves had the Honey/Melody on sale the other week, worth a look??

I got a Ridgeback Honey for my 4 year old and really pleased with it. Hargroves have some on offer at the moment.

She is slow growing so I went with 14″, it took her a while to get on top of the gear compared to her old bike but is now very quick on it.

is the Diablo worth the extra cash over a joystick

Yes, very much. The joystick struggles when paired with a half decent bar light.

Not used any of the ebay special helmet lights so cant comment. But combination of a Smudge bar light and Diablo has been superb

I went OTB at stanmer about a month ago and landed directly on my head. I felt the helmet do it job as it cushioned the blow.

There were no visible evidence of damage to the helmet, but I stamped on it in the car park to avoid the temptation to use it again.

Roads could be tricky for the support crew around Eastbourne if he is aiming for 5 mile pitstops as its Airbourne this weekend.

He has a pretty tasty tail wind for the outward leg, hope it drops a bit for the way back.

Good luck, hope he does it.

If you do service it, beware it is likely half a million tiny ball bearings will fall out and roll under the nearest fridge never to be seen again
