I've not had any dealings with them since I bought my Sirius frame back in March 2007. Stuart was great to deal with – emails were replied to quickly and delivery was as expected.

I put 85k miles on a Ibiza with the VAG 1.9 130bhp derv lump.

The suspension was falling apart but the engine was great. Had no problems with it engine-wise at all and I reckon it would have done the same again without blinking.

    My Trance 2:

NukeProof wheelset and 20mm 09 Revs. Didn't think it climbed as well with the Revs at 110 (compared to 100m Rebas) but as somebody pointed out to me, the saddle is waaaaaaaaaay back.

    I've got a small Hama camera case which I use for a battery under my stem. I think's it's a DF20.

Got mine from the photo department in Asda for something like £1.50. Couple of Velcro strips and it works a treat.

I've got some DM safety shoes (from Arco) – look just like a normal (plain) black leather shoe. Uber comfy as well.

    Nike+ Sportband?

Other than clothes to suit how hot/cold you get when running, I'd just suggest some form of reflective "add-on". I've got some el-cheapo Aldi ones – reflective bands with 4 red LEDs in them. LEDs can flash or be constant and go for hours on a single watch battery. Wiggle sell similar bits:

Don't waste your time trying to setup MAC filtering, it doesn't add any security.

    Nice colour that crikey.

When I broke my wrist road-riding (I went over the bars when the chain jammed), I knew I'd bust my wrist as it was the size of a large melon before I'd even managed to stand up. That took a lot of MTFUing!

Eccles – did anyone salute it as you ran it up the flag pole?

We plan our meals for a week before going shopping. Reduces the number of impluse buys that don't get eaten, plus we don't bin much food as I eat anything going spare 😆

You're not that from B-y-C for the Marin and Penmachno.

Have a look at http://www.ridetheclwyds.com/rideclwyds/index.asp – not a trail centre but there's plenty of good stuff in the Clywds.

Your shed must be like my garage.

I put my Trance 2 away after a ride, having had no mechanical problems. Next time I got it out, the spring in the XT rear mech had snapped / unhooked, so the rear mech was dead.

Drac – I agree. I would expect a an employment lawyer to run rings round them if they tried to make it stick.

    Barney_McGrew – very interesting.

My girlfriend has attended initial vaccine training run by her NHS trust and all present (clinical staff) were told it would be considered gross misconduct if they refused it. Hmmm!

Always take my iPod when I'm running solo (also use Nike+).

Steady pace runs vary music-wise but if I going for it, then it's dance/house/trance/DnB.

I have a specific playlist for two half marathons I did earlier this year. Starts steady and ramps up from around 1:30 with stuff like The Prodigy and DnB to try to inspire me (and forgot the pain).

I too have an original Trout Lite. Dealing with Mr Trout has been nothing but a pleasure. Given we've never done more than exchange e-mails, he's a very trusting, top bloke in my book. My TroutLite saw me round my dusk & dawn laps at SITS this year with no problems. In fact, I was little sad not to try it the small-hours but that's the way the times panned out for our team.

One of the guys I ride has a set of lights from one of the German companies – I forget which. He was hacked off with having problems, so found a number for the factory and rang them. The bloke who answered told him that the owner wouldn't give a **** as he was making too much money. Now that is customer service.

I also think it's a plus that Mr Trout is using off-the-shelf components. If he does decide to move to somewhere sunny with the vast proceeds from this project, you can still source spares yourself.

It sounds like I've led a very sheltered life.

Oh, actually, I remember going in a back-street place in Longton (Stoke-on-Trent) in 90s that had bullet holes in the windows. Lovely place.

The Develo Wireless Range Extender works well – gives you WiFi at the "remote" end of the Powerline link.

    I've just stuck some U-Turn 20mm Rev's on my 2006 (shock-basket) Trance.

Second ride on them was last weekend over Cut Gate. Even with the forks at 110m, didn't think it climbed as good as with the 100mm Rebas. I felt I had to get a lot more weight forward otherwise the front wheel kept popping-up (something I never remember on the Rebas). Need to move the seat forward and I've already been looking for a shorter stem (still on the OE 100mm).

Thought the 20mm axle felt better, even though I do mince going downhill.

I notice Rockshox.com lists the 2010 Rebas as being available in U-Turn (90 to 120mm) with a Maxle option. Now that sounds just the ticket…

I've ordered a "race remote" switch (with LED) from Kerry, should be on it's way from Oz at the moment.

Currently using one of these[/url] Cateye switches (connector cut-off, wiring split to seperate the switches). Wiring is very, very thin though. No LED for status like the KTronic one.

    Anyone tried Party Rings recently?

I suspect the lack of artificial colours would make them half the biscuit they were.
