DC Rainmaker is the daddy for Garmin information & reviews.

I asked a (supposed) specialist UK GPS/HRM company a question about the Forerunner 310XT. Their answer was, no, you can't do what I wanted.

Then I found Mr Rainmaker's review and it had screenshots of how to do what I wanted 8)

I hate to think what 46 energy gells would do to your guts! 😯

GNR for me – I'm a first timer. Looking forward to it as I'm getting some good miles in this month and I should get another 20 miles in before September.

No sign of my race pack yet.

I'm around 50 minutes for 10k, so I'll be eating your dust.

It's lovely stuff. I first found it as a guest at The Bay Horse in Scholes (nr Rotherham / Sheffield). If we hadn't been half way round a circular walk, I'd have spent the afternoon in their.

If you're just plonking them out in odd places, so a POE switch or mid-span isn't needed, then grab whatever is cheap.

I've used these 3Com ones before and they just work:

    This should work:

This script for Greasemonkey (plug-in for Firefox) adds an extra box to the Grab HTML section and produces the BBCode (with link) for you.

    Just a quick post
I contacted them to let them know my father had passed away, the person on the phone said to me…..
" can you prove it! You had better send us a death certificate"
I passed the details onto my solicitor to sort it out.
I received a court summons last week for my father, they ignored the contact from me and the solicitor letters.

I will never ever use them after this, shocking customer service.

    Matt

Sounds familiar – somebody I know rung TT to say their husband had died and they needed to close his account. TT call centre droid insisted, several times, that they could only speak to him as he is the account holder. His wife had a full on eppy down the phone on them!

I just got some Mayhems in brown from Merlin – very comfy and feel much tougher than the pair of ripped Decathlons they replaced.

Best bet is to check with the RS Brand Manager at Fishers:

    http://www.fisheroutdoor.co.uk/ContactBrandManager.asp?id=330

I asked about Reba U-Turns with Maxle for the 2010 range and this is what Fisher said:

Thanks for your e-mail. I am pressuming that you have a regular 26" wheeled bike and not a 29er (29") one here by the way. If so, I'm afraid to tell you that presently RockShox are not offering a Reba U-Turn with a Maxle Lite in their Aftermarket range for model year 2010, so it is not something we can even order I'm afraid

I'm very interested to hear if you find out this combination is about for 2011.

As mentioned before, Palmer Sport is possibly the most fun you can have with your clothes on. It's even better when somebody else is paying – I've done it twice thanks to suppliers 😀

The instructors really push you and the grip from the some of the cars like the Jaguar Palmer JP1 is mind blowing. I spun the 911 three times the first time I went there but the instructor was still egging me on 8)

I got just the replacement lever "blade" from Madison via an LBS for an M525 brake a couple of years ago. Vague memory of it being a bit fiddly to fit.

I use Zym / Nuun / High 5 electrolytes when adventure racing or long, hot rides. Sometimes put a water bottle with Luzocade Sport or similar in in the bottle cage.

I used to take a Camelback bladder full of energy / sports drink but found 3 litres of it would give me terrible stomach cramps and dodgy guts. No problems so far with the electrolyte tablets.

If you don't mind the colour, Cotswold have the Rab Bergen for £99 on their online Rock Bottom outlet. Only up to L though.

There's also a Rab Momentum with decent money off.

Road The Gap in the Brecon Beacons as part of an adventure race.

Damn it was windy on the top (that explains the name then) – the mountain rescue boys & girls were hiding in their Landy and the rain was horizontal.

    Corking descent though 😀

I've had a Tilley for a few years now. I originally objected to the cost but I stumped up after finding it was the only hat that would come close to fitting my noggin – I've got a size 8+.

Works well in the rain as well.

Hired from them in September 2008 – Stumpy FSRs all round and they rode great. Seemed a nice bunch of guys in the shop.

    Another option…

Mapyx will launch a version of Lowrance Endura GPS in June:

    http://www.mapyx.com/index.asp?tn=shop2&c=357

I've read a few bits about the Memory Map unit on Outdoorsmagic and I was a bit put off.

From my reading around, I got the feeling that the Garmin weakness is that whilst you buy the OS maps for the GPS unit, there's no way to use them on a PC for route plotting. Hence you'd either pay twice for the maps (eg Garmin + Memory Map / Tracklogs / Mapyx etc) or use one of the free online services.

Do you know anyone who works for the NHS?

The NHS Discounts website has links through to APH (and others) and it works out cheaper than normal prices from APH.

I ate in the Bulls Head Inn in Monyash a couple of weeks ago. The fish medley was epic and the Wincle Waller ale very good. The bar area was very busy but they were happy for three of us in walking gear to go into the restuaruant which is very nice.

The previously mentioned Monsal Head Hotel had a different Wincle Rambler on tap – lovely stuff.

A bit further away is the Royal Oak at Hurdlow – that's very good as well. Big portions and good beer.

Thornbridge Jaipur – superb stuff. Found it as a guest beer at the Bay Horse in Scoles (Sheffield / Rotherham). 5.9% on an empty stomach – happy days! 8)

I've got the Silverbike "quick-fit" tiling model of that carrier – it looks like the same bike supports.

I've had 3 full size bikes on my carrier once and wouldn't do it again. The "channels" for the 3rd bike might be okay for a kid's bike but I wasn't happy with an MTB on it. Great with two MTBs though (HT or FS)

I've got a Tradekar 2 bike carrier and that's been going strong for at least 4 years now. Bit rusty in places but it's seen plenty of miles without too much TLC.

I've got two small hooks screwed into a roof beam in the garage. The hook of the, erm, hook is just the right size to slide a length of metal hanging rail through. Has held up numerous tyres and wheels for over a year now.

I got everything from B&Q for a few quid.

I'm told the Sheffield bloke was part of a family trip to the sub-station. Dad, two sons and a daughter. Do you want to go the sea-side kids? Nah, that's boring.
