Rudeboy: I work on the Grand Union north of Watford and I am on the customer ops team. Basically make sure everything is running smoothly on the canal.
I quite often ride the towpath(my commute to work) and the scenery is lovely up ‘ere(spesh at the moment with all the snow). Also very close to Ashridge and Wendover.

Stoner: I work on the canals so there is not a lot that we can do at the moment.

I would say about a 0-1 for me. I quit my previous job in the summer and was enrolled to go back to college and learn to become a tree surgeon. At the last minute a VERY secure job came through and I wisely took it! Mrs Curtis is also in quite a secure job, so we are ok. We are moving into a larger house from a flat(renting) and would like to start a family.
However, we are still paying off our debts from a few years ago(2.5 years to go) when we had a run of bad luck and bad money choices. But like everything in life, I have learnt a lot from my mistakes. We deal only in cash(no credit available) and live within our means. I have also learned to be more creative with my accounting and have become very good at making money disappear!
I am really sorry to hear that some of you are struggling so much. As someone that has just come through it, try to keep your head up. They can only take your money and money doesn’t buy happiness.

The Rose and Crown- Ealing… Good beer, food and friendly staff
The Castle- Ealing… another Fullers pub that does nice Thai food and shows the rugby
The Red Lion- as above although it gets packed out and you need to get there early
The Bricklayers Arms- Hoxton… haven’t been in years but have good memories of getting in trouble with the old bill!
The Boat- Berkhamsted… very close to home and work
The Alford Arms- Frithsden… good food but gets a bit poncy
Valiant Trooper- Aldbury… does good local beers and food

Ljubljana is a lovely little town/city. Enough to see and do for a few days. It is small enough to walk around in a couple of hours. A few hours outside of Ljubljana is Lake Bled. Very scenic and there is a great campsite just outside the village. The campsite is a lovely meadow that overlooks Lake Bled. Highly recommended.

I can sympathize with you. I have just spent the past few months looking for a new house. Looked at several crap, rundown over- priced hovels. Found one we liked and agreed on it, only to be told that we would have to pay £180 for reference checks, £80 for admin, £80 checking in fee and £80 for each time we renewed the lease. Basically told them to go **** themselves. Have now found a lovely place with private landlord who we deal with directly. This is the way forward IMO.

I live on the very outer northern edges of the M25 and although its not strictly London I consider London to be my town. All of our socializing and leisure time and work is spent in town. I always think that the further you go out of large cities the less open minded people tend to be. 30 miles out seems like it is 30 years back with peoples attitudes. IMO

I am really sorry to hear that mate. Keep your chin up. Was it perhaps a drunken spur of the moment thing or has she been planning this for awhile? Perhaps once the dust has settled, sit down and find out where you stand in your relationship. If it is not salvageable, move on as quickly as poss. Throw yourself into a activity that will occupy your mind(cycling, reading, masterbation, whatever) and just keep busy. Hope it all works out for you.

Just read that thread over there. Interesting. Brings to mind what people were saying about Tom Waits not being as authentic as he says. In fact this could go on and on. Many many performers have been slated over the years for not being “real”

He has really inspired me(and the missus) to do a driving tour of the deep south. Maybe end up in Memphis and have a look around the Stax museum(my fav label).

He really reminds me of early John Spencer Blues Explosion with getting a huge sound out of a small band(no bass in his case just down tuned guitar) I saw them years ago and I swore that somebody was playing an extra guitar off stage. LOL

we used to get loads of helicopters flying over our nursery in Acton Town. I think they were mostly coming from RAF Northolt. Made a bloody great racket, especialy when the chinooks came over.

what a T*t that managing director is! Like how he swans into the Little Chef surrounded by his yes men/women. I say let the brand die IMO. If I want to go for a heart stopper breakfast I would go to a decent cafe where the food is cooked fresh to order, the coffee is good(a lot of the traditional cafes in London are run by Italians) and generally cheaper.

Keep driving might be OK if you doubt they are police, but if they are chasing you through the underground and pull out handguns you better stop!

Especially if you are a illegal immigrant!

stop wingeing for FS – if you report him then the dog will probably be put down. Is that fair enough over a pair of tights??
