I recently built up a Ribble and although i have now sold it on (just dont get on with road bikes), it was a lovely frame which i thought was made well.

Right, my Dx light has been brought back, the problem was a loose connection in the light unit, he has fixed it and it works a treat again!
I wander how many lights get binned for something so simple?
The reason the battery looked like it was dead (it didnt light up the voltage reading) was that the protection circuit was basically protecting it from the short circuit on the lighting unit!

I hope this helps some other people who might have thought about shelling out on a new unit when the current one could be repaired, there is bound to be someone you know or even someone through a friend who is good with electronics.

I have just bought one of the 5 mode torches with 2 batteries as back up to my Dx light. They look good, only got it today but rated at 900lumens so should be pretty good depending on the light spread.
About £38 i think so good value too!

My DX light stopped working after about half an hour on monday which was poo because we had a decent turnout and it was a superb evening to go out.
I gave it to my brother to look at, he texted me earlier to say it was now working again, i will post further news on what was wrong when i see him and hopefully it will help people if they have trouble with theirs.

Blimey, what an anti-climax, can you not go and beat up a different child in the street and let us know if you win or not?

Nice, i bought them hoping for reliability but instead get something that needs work immediately!
Is it a big job, do you know what is involved?

Had to cut it short last night due to epic light failure! Great shame as it was a lovely night with an excellent turnout!
Never mind, spare lights are on order so i hope to be out next week!

I think a medium is ok up to an 11-32 cassette but not a 34 hence it should be ok for yours.
You would never be in the large front and large rear anyway.

A lot of people suggest the Panaracer fire xc pro, my brother swears by them.
I on the other hand have some WTB raijin race and absolutely love them, light and very cheap on CRC at the moment.

Nah, my bike is built with tried and tested components, i want it robust so it can handle my shite riding but then again, i wont buy a component that i dont like the style of.

Looking on the net, they were about £650 when new so iwould say more around the £300-£350 mark, not £500!

How big is your kinesis frame and how big a scandal frame are you after?

I have just built a scandal 26er, got the frame at the cheaper price.
It looks great, isn`t as light as i thought it might be but i dont have excess cash to throw at things so my wheels may be a bit heavy and chainset maybe but even so, as a fully geared suspension forked bike it will struggle to get under 11kg.
I will probably sell it because i really should have built a long travel hardtail, go for the long travel inbred and dont worry about the weight too much.

I landed on my shoulder back in may, i didnt break anything but it still hurts now! I dont recover as well at the spritely age of 35 as i did at 18 but even so, 7 months and still feeling it is a pain (literally).
The bone should heal, like said in about 8 weeks so try not to rush it as that might set you back.

I am awaiting on some money and really hope that the Boardman is still around for that price, looks lovely in the flesh, a good weight and a good spec.

Depends how long and how steep really, on the CRC marathon in september i did it after going across the top of the mountain as the drop down was very rocky and slippy plus i was bloomin knackered and could barely get back on the bike without falling off again!

Really dont know anything Nic but i really hope it doesnt happen, very big mistake in my book selling off woodland.

I think it is april 2011 when we might know more about where it is heading.
