They took away my magic carpet and I now have to take the Northern Line everywhere. It’s inhuman.

6 days work a week, one day off but you never have to work again? Whatever the salary is, the pension must be spectacular.

Still not here. Unovolo, did you have to sign for the package?

Good point. Unpainted floor and unfinished walls are a recipe for covering your kit in dust I reckon.

So, after the peg board goes on the first order of business will be to put a door/cover on it!

HELP! I have gone and ordered a Hilti drill.

I blame my American mate for pressurising me into visiting the Hilti shop near work.

Oh well, at least my kids will be able to use it one day. Now I wait until it gets to me tomorrow and the peg boarding can begin!

So today I will be purchasing a corded SDS drill, a couple of vertical bike hooks, measuring the garage and devising a layout that I think will work, and then ordering some peg board. Let me know your recommendations please!

I think the missus’ roadie single speed can be consigned to a wall bracket for now.

Pretty excited about how this is going to turn out. 🙂

Dave, what happens if you want to put the car in there?

I think the time is ripe for me to buy some power tools though. First man task for the weekend sorted then.

Just dropped him an e-mail. Can’t find any garage specific blog posts yet, but there are a few snaps of them, so I am on the right track.

Main thing is to get what I have organised first I reckon. I will be back with before and after pictures and so forth.

Do you mean blog, or bog?

    Either way, any links?

How did you make that board and what did you use to fix it to the wall? I have no power tools and will have to rely on borrowing some from a mate.

Tracey, may I ask what you used to pain the floor please?

I’ve got enough shoes to get a shoe rack for them (don’t judge please). The question is, how do I clean and dry them in the winter before they freeze?

Missus’ bike has been on he same sealant for nearly 2 years now. Mind you, she doesn’t care because it’ll be muggins here who has to fix the inevitable non-sealing puncture!

Hmmm, I reckon I need to figure out a way to paint the garage floor, and the walls I’ll be utilising first.

Garage journal looks good as well. Thanks for putting me onto that one guys.

I am pretty short. Perhaps some hooks will sort me out for the MTBs. May need to put the commuters in racks for easy access.

I’m more interested in what the insides look like! Having a tough time organising the space I’ve got
. Also, what bike racks for big knobbly tyres please?

Why does it need to be painted?

And cheers for the posts so far!

Cheers mate. Trying to figure out which bike racks will take 2.35 HDs and which peg board to get at the moment! Hopefully see you for the Mendips ride at the end of the month if you’re around for it.

Baby scales for a picture hook.

Could have used the baby, but the mother wouldn’t let me.

Seems a shocking waste of a life.

My thanks to those of you who’ve taken the time to write to those in office about it. Hopefully if we keep on keeping on then attitudes will change someday. Also to those who have clarified the law and machinations of court. Interesting to know.

@jono1982 any chance I can be cheeky and ask for a GPX route e-mailed to me please? Mine is mailtocuriousyellow at gmail dot com.

How can I avoid the bit of the A308 from The Glanty to The Causeway please folks? Thanks for the tips so far!

No, I do mean the A315. It looks ok in Google Street View though. What’s wrong with it?

My work is just off the A4 (Great West Road) so the A315 works well for me.

jamie, I will try Cycle Streets.

    @avdave2 Look for bearing press.

Don’t like that your address data is all entered unencrypted. Could be anyone you’re giving the details to.

@unovolo Where did you order the kit from please mate?

I wanted a BB tool and Halfords sent me the pedal spanner instead! D’oh!

DHB bibs used to give me pretty bad sores. Especially after long rides. It would get so bad that I’d have to get the missus to lance them after a hot bath.

Swapped to Sportful bibs and Assos chamois cream (though any decent cream should see you right) and I am better for it. I bought the aftercare cream too and applied it generously during my recovery, though Sudocreme should do the business too.

Main thing seems to be to find a pad that your body is comfortable with. A good quality chamois cream doesn’t hurt either. Also, don’t hurry back before the sore’s healed fully. I did this a couple of times and it just set me back even further. It’s the stupidest thing to stop your riding.

Yup checking death in service benefits at the moment.

Been doing some reading on it as well. So what’s the deal with mortgage assurance versus life insurance? I get that the mortgage assurance payments decrease as the term ticks down, but what happens at the end? Do you get any of the money you paid in back?

@samuri Marry at haste repent at leisure eh? I’ve been there.
