Looks like a bolt on the other side. Bit like a 9mm QR. Looks lovely.

Just checked and you’re too far away for me to have a look. My partner and I are thinking of getting a dog and I’d love a Whippet. Shame 🙁

IS to Post adaptor? Yes. Try Discobrakes for cheap ones.

Did think that. Unfortunately budget constraints struck. May sell the current ones and replace with the On One copies at some point. Any idea what size tyre it will take front/rear? Seems like a 2.35 will not go on the front though.

What forks are you running? Is clearance an issue? I’ve got a 2.35 Hans Dampf spare. Currently running 2.25 Nic and 1.85 Rocket Ron on the rear. Feels fine, but squirms a bit cornering.

Will it fit a pushfit BB?

There are two schools of thought.

Ice baths are supposed to reduce inflammation and swelling.

Warm baths I thought would increase blood flow by dilating your capillaries, hence blood supply required to repair muscle tissue after the activity.

I use an ice bath when training for running events because I have an inflammation injury I need to manage in order to train the next day. After a ride it’s nice to sit in a warm bath. Especially in winter. No inflammation injuries there thank the Gods.

What’s the deal with Middleburns? Is there any advantage over running XT cranks, or is it just for the niche/blingness?

Ok, how about if it were a straight wedding and you knew your mother didn’t approve of your child’s partner for one reason or another?

How about the language barrier? Neither of us speak any French. Will that be a problem?

I’d go to a friend’s wedding gay or not.

How about this though. If your parents were anti-gay and your child was gay, would you try to convince your parents to go to their grandchild’s wedding?

It’s not so much about the money and the sightseeing. It’s more about having a pleasant experience we can share. I’d happily go to Bruges if it meant there were less obnoxious people about and we could go for long, quiet walks by the river or some such.

Or just get plastered in a bar on Belgian beer. As long as it’s quiet and I don’t have to queue for a drink.

    It’s deffo worth the extra.

I don’t know about your fitness level, ability or motivation, but if it weren’t for Marco and Steve (?) our guides, we’d not have ridden anywhere close to the amount we did or been as safe.

    – First trip day 2, I got lost. The guide found me. It’s a lot scarier in a remote Spanish mountainside with no humanity around than at a trail centre.
    – Second trip, day 4, I bonked. Guide made sure I was hydrated enough to finish the ride.
    – Final day. Massive puncture, was being a wally trying to fix my tyre. Guide sorted it.
    – Final day, final trail, one of the hardest I’ve ever ridden. Without the guide’s wheel to follow it’s anyone’s guess as to whether I’d have made it down in one piece.

Some of the trails there are pretty much zero tolerance for failure. Your safety is worth more than £130 saved. The guide’s trail knowledge and assessment of your skill could mean the difference between life and death.

The guide is for much more than just showing you the way. They make sure you and your friends are safe and don’t ride anything over your comfort level. You could get some maps off a random internet person and have a go. I wouldn’t.

I’ve proposed already. She is the wife after all!

Bruges seems to be the better option if Paris is a dump. I hate busy cities, but I’ve always wanted to go to Paris. Maybe it’s better reserved for the TdeF finale?

What sort of budget? Ciclo Montana have been pretty good for us. Circa £400 for 6 days including transfers, dinner and guiding. I have some Strava maps but you’d need someone to drive the van around.

If you mean ride single speed only then I am game.

Bruges you say? Tell me more. She does like her beers. Apparently it’s a fairy tale town?

@haggis1978 @Duffer Yup! Feels stupidly light and I’ve not even tried to build it light.

Going to ride it a bit more if work’s not too busy today. It’s quite hard to figure out if the juddering under breaking is because of QR forks, unbedded brake pads on new rotors or just a shitty headset.

Wish someone did a 1 1/8 straight steerer, 15mm QR fork. 9mm QR is useless for someone like me who doesn’t plan on changing wheels in a hurry.

Why don’t you just call them up and ask when they’ll have stock, and see if they will take a pre-order? They’re pretty friendly on the phone.

Yeah, with their kit you sort of have to buy as soon as you get the e-mail about stock.

Couldn’t believe my luck when I managed to snag a Filo and a full jacket in the sales though. Amazing kit.

A story back home had a well known cricketer with a penchant for fast Italian cars turning up at a match and having a tremendous innings. He was having a great time until he went to the car park to discover his brand new car’s windscreen broken. In two places.

People say it was Sanath Jayasuriya, but I couldn’t possibly confirm.

    Does this count?

Built entirely from the Classifieds, PSAs and kit donated by friends apart from the brakes and spacers!

I have the TE10. It does the job. Seemed pointless buying a higher model when all I’d be using it on was masonry anyway. Don’t regret buying it.

It’s simpler to use time in the saddle over distance.

    When training properly:

    – 2 long zone 3 rides a week. At least a couple of hours each ride, as much as 5-6 hours each ride sometimes.
    – 1 Zone 4 ride. Minimum one hour, never more than 2.
    – 1 or 2 interval sessions. MTB rides are perfect for this.
    – Commutes I treat as Zone 1-2 mini recovery sessions. I know they’re supposed to be longer if possible, but it never really works out that way with life and all.

I try and back off in the week, or two before a race, or an important event. These can be races, to a ride with a mate where I don’t want to get shown up.

@haggis1978 did think that, but sometimes you get a tyre/rim combo that is so tight that all you can do is tape twice, lever it up and hope that shit seats. Try Arch EXes on 1.85 Rocket Rons, or 2.25 Nics on Rovals.

@cchris2lou dry bikes you say? Hmmm…

Waiting for the compressor to show up now. Will post a picture once it’s here and of all my monies.

Oh wait, just found some monies lying around cos I so rich. So this one is for barrykellett:

Just ordered the larger one and some PTFE tape.

Also managed to order a tool chest and a stool for the garage. At least I have somewhere to sit and drink my tea now!
