Mine is on its way! Cannot wait to get it swapped out on the SS. Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Cheers. Can you recommend a decent impact driver as well? I’ve been using a DeWalt which is fabulous, but feels like it has a bit too much power for me. Would a 10.8V impact driver not have enough grunt for woodwork?

Alright, got the kit now. Does anyone bother with the tar and glue remover before having a go at fitting it? I am following the guide here: http://factoryjackson.com/2013/04/24/review-invisi-frame-bike-protection/

Any special considerations for carbon frames?

That’s a good idea. I’ll look for woodwork groups round my way.

Understand the point about the tools. Even my 10.8V drill scares the crap out of me sometimes!

I have a Screwfix/Toolstation close by. I can also see a few of those vices close by on eBay.

Cheers for the book recommendation. I’ll get that sorted first!

Cheers! Any advice on a vise to get, or a book that’ll get me started building stuff please?

After watching Blackfish yesterday, I reckon intelligent animals in captivity will be on this list.

What is the benefit running Zees over SLX or XT? Does it mean you can lock the wheels up quicker with Zees, or does it mean less brake fade?

The main problem for me is the brake fade on prolonged descents. I’m guessing a larger rotor and the same brakes will address it better than 4 piston brakes?

Tried on a steep-ish uphill bit of my ride and I can do about 2-3 revolutions straight off the bat! Cannot get the balance point on the flat for the life of me.

I have enlisted my neighbour who can wheelie and manual like a boss to help me a few times a week. First lesson after Boxing Day!

I’ve had the same problem on my DPA Pikes (120-160mm). I upped the pressure from 65 to 80psi and cycled it through the travel, which seemed to fix it. However, the fork is sitting in its travel without being under load. hoping to get this sorted out under warranty, or by the LBS I bought from.

    – Learn to wheelie
    – Learn to manual

    Little hijack, sorry!

Will TF be able to sort any warranty issues out, or do they still have to go to SRAM? Having some problems with my Pikes. Nothing major, they’ve developed a slight “drop” when they’re unweighted. Doesn’t affect performance, but it’s a bit disconcerting when you’re riding.

Cut a business card up into uniform pieces, glue the bits together and make a ghetto spacer?

Or get a pencil eraser and cut it up to fit.

Alright, this weekend I am going to give it the old college try and report my findings!

Agree that a manual is more useful, but I’m told it’s easier to use a wheelie to get the balance point and then move on to manuals? Is this correct?

No way, Mickey O’ Rourke and Dennis Rodman are better than 2 Van Dammes.

    CFH, where from?

Saw it in the supermarket for ~£45 the other week. Almost bought some, but refrained for an unknown reason.

Have you peeled off the tape to look underneath yet? Oh, and did you bother with waxing your frame before you put the tape on?

There is a kit for the frame I want, but having some spare tape to do another bike does appeal. Problem is different finishes on both, so it’d be ok for one, but not another.

When I get a new bike it will be getting a full kit, sending frame away to him if he does not already have a kit listed (note, this does NOT cost extra!!!)

@STATO so I can send the frame to him and he will tape it? Or have I misunderstood.

Yeah, I thought £40-50 for a few bits of tape sounded like a lot. I’m not buying it to ride, not hoping to desperately preserve the retail value so I’m wondering if it’s worth the hassle to protect it from the first Spanish love tap, or rock kiss it’ll inevitably get.

Medium. Status of my order changed to paid on 8th Dec if that helps you. They’ve lived up to their side. Week 51 promised, week 51 delivered! Was expecting it to be built in week 51 and delivered later to be honest.

Just need to look inside the box and build it now.

I was looking at a kit specific to my bike that comes pre-cut.

Mine turned up last night. No warning, no e-mail.

Anyone have any word on what their shipping process is like? Do you get an update saying “your bike is being built”, “now it’s being shipped”, or do they just build it in the week it’s supposed to be available, and it turns up without warning on your doorstep?

Am I right when I say you can use the Shimano 11 speed cassette without changing your hub driver body because the cassette is the same length as a 10 speed?

Anywhere selling a 1×11 XTR groupset with brakes?

    1. You’re happy with what your earn and they offer you something you’re happy with = win

    2. You’re not happy with what you earn and they try and lowball you because of your situation = lose

If it’s 2 then you’d look to leave soon anyway. Do you really want to work somewhere that tries to exploit you when you’re in a position of weakness while overlooking the fact that an unhappy hire is most likely to leave in the near future?

If you don’t like what they propose then make a counter offer. Worst thing they can say is no.

    @Kryton57

Coming back from an illness I’d probably go with a leisurely 100km ride with the slowest group. Maybe even prepare to cut the ride short if I felt bad during it. Do a “neck check” and increase my build up period if I had to.

No point rushing back from recovery. You lose 100% of the races you don’t start and all that.

    Not from the US.

Only one person from my town in my school year has died so far out of over 200. But I think that was more to do with the bus that ran him over. I should probably add that we do get the vaccine. Means you get a milder form of the disease if you do catch it I think.

Anyway, even though I’m not living there anymore I’d still get my child vaccinated. Can’t hurt.
