Have I tried turning it off and back on again – yes – but it doesn't turn off or on when it has gone in to black screen mode, no matter how long you hold the power button for, it does nothing. When it does this the only way to kick start it is to try and charge it, then it bursts in to life.

Turning it upside down and shaking it does nothing either – I would like on occasions to try throwing the thing violently at a brick wall to see if that helps but so far have managed to resist!

If it worked as it is supposed to it would be great, but it doesn't. I think I got a friday afternoon one!

I've got one, 29er version, use it for commuting. If I was to use it for mtbing I would upgrade the wheels (they are crap) bottom bracket, chainset at the absolute minimum. as a commuter hack with mudguards and rack it is ace.

I loved my fazer 600, top top bike, wish I'd kept it and not bought the gsxr!

"d) No worse than going for a muddy winter mtb ride in the right clobber."

Having commuted by motorbike in all weathers and ridden an mtb in winter I would far far far far rather go for the mtb ride, winter motorbike commuting can be ferkin dodgy!

I didn't demonstrate it to anyone, it was given back to the IT dept and so I'm told taken to an O2 store then sent off to apple. It doesn't matter if it's in the case or not. never mind, only 8 days to go….

there is no keypad button, or speaker or mute etc, just a black screen that will not come to life at all. I hate the bl**dy thing.

I've had one for over a year with work and due to a change of job will be getting shot if it soon, can't wait, despite all the updates via itunes it is still the most frustrating piece of cr*p to work with, hangs regularly, goes dead regularly, comes to life when it feels like it, doesn't give me keypad options during calls, i know it should but it doesn't. Has been back to apple twice and given a clean bill of health. Oh, and it's not me, my boss has the same problems with my iphone. If I had been paying for it I wouldn't have been happy at all.

Cheers all, just had a dig through the promax website and it says it is post-mount (manitou) compatible so fingers crossed we should be ok.
    Thanks.

Wouldn't bother myself as the boulder field will be a carry, as others have said.

I got the speed kings with free delivery. I like them, not the best in muddy conditions but pretty good all round which is good as I only take the tyre off when it has a puncture!

Er, bit off topic, but a lot of horse riders do have insurance through the british horse society just as cyclists have through ctc, they still churn paths up big style mind!

    I think I've cracked it!
A pair of ST2300T shifters should work with an FD2303 braze on mech?
I promise, if the answer is yes I'll leave you all in peace!!

Nope. Have got those combined brake gear shifters R221 and R225. Can't seem to find a different front mech that is 8 spd braze on and not an r443!

Hmm, maybe I could put some SLr440 shifters on, or maybe I should just buy a road bike!!

Wow, thanks for the input, much appreciated.
Front mech is an FD-R443 so should be OK?
Rootes1 – I like your thinking and many thanks. My shifters are the combined bvrake / gear ones RT221/225 so I can't see how your idea would work, but I do like it!

Goes out to garage to check…..

it's a shimano (unknown model) but is a braze on (two bolts into seat tube) which is a road mech, yes?

Just need to find some 8 spd triple shifters now!

Cheers all. have got a shorter stem ready to use.
Why would the front mech be an issue if it's a road triple that is on there already and all is shimano?

By move do you mean replace? if you do then it's because I like the more varied riding positions I can use.
