I have run mine with the alfine chain tensioner and two front rings for 2500 miles and no issues.

I bought two of the these for £80 posted, 200 lumens each, quick release, with 2 I have a charger at home and at work, low, high and flash settings, love them.

Well the two have arrived. First impressions are very good for £40 each. They both charged up in under two hours, very easy to attach on the bars (no tools). Beam is fairly tightly focussed. They cycles through high, low and flash through a top mounted button. Quick release which is ideal for my commuting use. My only concern might be that the recharge rubber cover may break as it looks a bit weak but it will be on the bottom of the light when mounted so shouldn’t be too much of an issue if it does. Wouldn’t like to try and helmet mount them as they are very smooth with no obvious anchor points. Haven’t done a full burn time test but they both ran 5 hours on high with out problems. Overall for the £40 posted I paid for each of the two I bought I can’t really fault them. lets see how they fair over the winter!

    Hope that helps.

It doesn’t come with a helmet mount but there are always cable ties! I’ll post once I have had a play with it.

I’m toying with buying two of these rsp ones, that way i have a charger at home and at work, it will also help with the spot like beam the light apparently gives out – 2 spots better than one!

Speaking as someone who does a lot of cycle maintenance a stand that would allow me to get access to both sides would be superb i.e. could it be held from above rather than the side? And I'd need to be able to turn the pedals. But I wouldn't bother with tool storage on it.

Yes – just the alfine one which can cope with 14 teeth, so depending on the route I either run 22 or 26 with a 36.

10 mins to fix a puncture, are you doing it blind fold? 😆

I run mine with twin rings up front, I know you're not meant to but 2500+ miles on it and no issues at all you I'll keep it that way 'til it breaks!

Wouldn't it be easier / quicker to licence the design via a manufacturer? get a royalty off each one sold so you are not in competition as such and everyone benefits from good sales.

I did it at the end of March and started a new job mid-april. I left stupid hours, loads of uk travel, many nights away from home for a regular job I can cycle to and from with better pay and conditions and doing something I seem to be good at. Overall – much much happier.

Tried that so there is no need to thank you, she hates road bikes as well. A few assumptions in your post. We also won't be riding for 7 hours, more like 1-2. This has been discussed with my good lady in advance of asking on here. I should also add that I'm from Fife so any opportunity to spend money is actively avoided. 😆

Thanks all. Your input is very much appreciated. I shall let my stoker in waiting see this thread and go from there. There is a hire place 40 miles from us so that is a good starting point armed with your input.

Thanks. There is a place in Pitlochry that hires them for £20 for half a day so we'll try and give that a go and see how we get on.

3 in one day a few weeks back. My deadliest area is near the nursery in the morning, some parents really need to review their priorities.

I have one, have been using it 2-3 days a week, each day around 20 miles, it is the 29er version. I changed the mudguards as they rattle quite badly and are huge (SKS now), other than that just a new chain and so far it has done 1400km+. It ain't light but once rolling it's fine, just about to change rear pads. I use it with panniers as I need to change and shower at work, can't fault it. Sometimes do a 15 mile route home.
