    d) getting a new generation of kids interested in mtbing and showing them that it doesn’t have to cost loads and it can be done on your doorstep to get you started.

Most people involved are volunteers, the PM is paid but not very much.

I can’t comment on the whole site but one reason the Dundee section was done with route cards was to get other people started in the sport by highlighting trails on the doorstep that people could use to start with that didn’t need a gucci bike or incur travel costs. This mainly includes young people whose parents have no interest or capacity to take them. There are now route cards and safe travels routes for them to follow to allow them to try the sport without having to rely on adults driving them elsewhere. Sadly an amazing number of kids in the city never get taken outdoors and there is only so much the council can do so the cards give them a tool to use themselves, distributed amongst schools, youth clubs etc.

I for one have found trails 10 mins from my parents that I never new were there…. having moved away almost 20 years ago.

The other trail centres do have their own websites but it is good to have as many as possible in the one place.

With regard to the 7 stanes, were they not partly EU funded as an economic regeneration programme in rural areas but not too far from a large population centre?

Just my tuppence… you may not be the intended target?

I got involved with the Dundee route development, unfortunately after the cards were sent to print so some of the good stuff was missed out, but it’s a good start.

Parcelforce are superb for me. The driver lives in the same village and I’ve got to know him pretty well, he has even kept a bike in his own garage for me and told me so on the sorry we missed you card. I’m not without tails of woe though, City Link, now they are sh*te.

Commute in this morning, so commute home this evening, if I get away sharp I might take the tourist route. Just got a few meetings to endure first though 🙁

Always good to hear good comments about a local (to me) shop. Good that the part was so cheap.

    Personally, a mix of this

Do we truly remember all war dead on a day such as today, or is it a moment for Britons the world over to reflect on their own personal grief?

    i.e. both parts of that.

Normal breakfast before cycling to work, then a bit of fruit when I get there. Nothing to eat before I leave to cycle home, just a drink of water. 9 miles each way.

Helped me greatly. Don’t care if it’s pyschological or actual, it has made a big difference.

EDIT – I’m talking about the fade in wake up light, not the SAD therapy light.

Some Police forces do listen, the issue is resources, if you see the different directions that traffic police get pulled in that takes them away from, yes, road policing.

the list of bad drivers should also include those with those with the little extra mirrors attached their real wing mirrors.

As my standard wing mirror doesn’t have a wide angle section like a more modern car or an hgv, I have stuck one of these on, I can now see more, which is obviously a bad thing?

    dogs can’t look up.

Interesting, ours regularly watch planes and birds in the sky.

I learnt to proof documents before I let a colleague send them for a print run of 2000.

McBoo – It might not be, but in my extensive experience it is. 🙂

Proving your point, maybe, but I was always sold independence as pro- scotland. Those who do get hung up on anti english sentiment tend to miss the other 2 UK members but some might argue that this is because their ‘influence’ on scotland is less, or perceived as less.

    Lunch calls.

Started reading this thread but haven’t got time to go through it all. I will raise two points though in relation to this.

TJ, take off your rose tinted glasses. Scottish nationalism begins and ends with resentment against England and some perception of arrogance from the English. I got fed that garbage from birth, it is no different from any other Balkan style prejudice…..always definine yourself against “the other”.

Oh and another thing you wont like to admit. Scots are racist. Sorry to burst your little bubble.

1)Pro independence for scotland doesn’t have to mean anti englishness, it can be about pro scotland and independence.
2)Independence would also be from Wales and Northern Ireland not just England, a fact many people fail to register.

    As you were….

It quite probably has changed but it looks like the logging back in still reactivates it, so submit the request then leave well alone.

You can close the account and provided you don’t try and log in or access it in any way for 2 weeks you then ‘disappear’. This worked for me earlier this year (August). If you so much as look at it in the two week time period it will be reactivated. The problem is people try and log back in just to see if it has been closed……

As someone once said, if don’t pay for it then you are the product not the customer.

I’ve just ordered a £19.99 one off ebay (£25 all in and reduced from £50 allegedly) so I’ll see how that goes. It has 15 and 30 minute wake up option and can be used for light therapy.
