I have 511’s and have had 471’s too. I would say that 471’s are stronger, so if you don’t want 2.6 or WT tyres then I’d go for them.

Dealers that have pre ordered the Evo will have them early September, the next lot drop in October I think. If you want a reasonably priced frame then buy the carbon comp full bike for £3500 ( same price as the SWorks frame) and then sell all the bits. The comp frame and the SWorks are the same except the decals and the shock.

You don’t need to mod the 2017 shock yoke mate, Spesh basically did the mod in the factory for the 2017 bike.

I’m gonna be selling my Tarn 20 which you can have for £950 which is pretty much immaculate and comes with Nobby Nic 2.8’s on it. Even if you don’t want it I can definitely recommend the bike and I’m only selling it to buy the 2018 one. Don’t get the 29’er, it has 2x drivetrain, the plus one comes with 1×11. I originally thought I was gonna put 29’er wheels on it but after trying it with both I’ve never put the 29’er wheels on it since. 2.8’s on a hardtail are just way too much fun. Sorry if I’ve committed a sin by not putting this in the classifieds, not sure what the protocol is

Grizedale mountain bikes mate. £50 a day for a full suss bike and it’ll take you about 40 mins out of your way maximum. Is it just bearings that you need replacing in your wheel? If so bring it in in and I’ll fix it while you wait

Non champs is the same 10 stages but only 8 of them count towards your overall. The champs race has transition times and seeding. As far as I’m aware the deadline for the champs race was yesterday.

Teamhurtmore go into the bike shop at Grizedale and ask the lads for some directions. I’ll let them know you’re coming so make yourself known. Ask for Pat. He’ll give you a map that has Parkamoor on it and let you know what current conditions are like.

fitted mine just before christmas and it’s good. It pretty much does what it says on the tin. It stops the fork diving through the mid travel till you hit the ramp up point created by the bottomless tokens if that makes sense? It seems to start to slow down your rate of compression sooner in the travel but the first bit of travel is still really plush. I was running 3 tokens and 90psi on 160mm Lyriks on an Enduro 29’er and I’m now running 1 token and 100 psi, I weigh about 13 1/2 stone at the moment.

Boardin Bob 2017 ones have better headset bearings than previous years but regardless of that all the bearings have a 12 month warranty you should’ve got your LBS to replace them FOC. Not seen a small but you may struggle to fit a 125 reverb because of where the pivot is. At the very least you’ll prob have to swap out the connectamjig for the old style connection.
forgot to ad that they’re awesome, I had a 2016 and now have a 2017. 29’er with and Ohlins coil. Sold my dh bike because there wasn’t any point in it

If it helps, I ride the 2015 Mega AM with Pikes and the same shock as you. I weigh 13st and run 170psi, feels lively and pedals well. I use 170mm cranks and don’t get pedal strikes on techy climbs. I almost never use the Climb switch. I couldn’t tell you the other settings off the top of my head except that I run the HS rebound really slow. This was Tf’s suggestion based on the sort of terrain I ride.

I have a CCDB Air for sale that was on my MK1. Now have a 2015 with the CS on it as it works so well. Its on ebay. It comes with all the necessary mounts and has new DU bushes fitted. Also comes in the original box and with the little tuning spanner.

I had this problem with my first set of pikes mate. Out of the box the rebound knob was really stiff and only managed about 4 clicks of adjust before it went tight. Try backing off the grub screw so that its only just tight enough to stop the knob from pulling back off. I did this and it was cured. Over tightening it (or doing it up as much as you would think is necessary) seems to make some of them bind up.

had a set of 26’s and a set of 650b rct3’s from them and had to warranty the 26″ ones when the damper burst. I was away for the whole summer and they got a damper sent out to me in Italy on trust that I’d send the old one back to them. Turned the whole thing round in under a week. Excellent service. Website is a bit tricky if you don’t speak German but it’s not rocket science 🙂

Utopia Slayer have a really wide V nose “bit” which would prob sort out your problem. Think they’re about £30 on ebay. Loads of colours and replacement lenses are easy to get

I got mine from jungleproducts.co.uk they’re the new importers. They carry all the spares and will sell to you direct. They postage is first class sign for so is a bit over the top but they are pretty quick and seem to know what they’re talking about. The cable was £2 and £2 postage and came next day. It comes without the barrel adjusters but you can reuse them, it’s just a bit fiddly.

Ha ha Matt I don’t think anyone is in denial after “investing a chunk of effort”, I think you’d find if you asked the filmers and the riders if they had fun that they did. They have fun on bikes all the time and quite often film it. People go out everyday and try and take KOM’s on Strava this is just a fun way of looking at who does it in a particular month. No one is making any money or trying to turn it into something it’s not. I guess until someone actually makes us stop we will just carry on having fun amongst ourselves without the approval of you guys. Enjoy tossing your unwanted opinions backwards and forwards, it’s what you do best after all…

As far as 4) goes Ian the trails used are all legal to ride bikes on. Whoever it was that said Strava Terms said it wasn’t to be used for race timing, I can’t find that in the terms but I did find this-YOU ALSO EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT STRAVA DOES NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE INSPECTION, SUPERVISION, PREPARATION, OR CONDUCT OF ANY RACE, CONTEST, GROUP RIDE OR EVENT THAT UTILIZES STRAVA’S SITE. Which seems to suggest that while they want nothing to do with it they accept that it will happen. Nobody pays to take part and as such there is no company or group organising the whole affair so I don’t really think insurance comes into it. All it is is a way of grouping together who is fastest over a particular month so that trail condition and weather is more consistant. Anyway as stated it’s a bit of fun, do with it what you will.

As stated guys it’s a bit of fun using Strava, the app that times you on a ride and then tells you who was fastest, up or down. The application itself promotes going fast. It’s not 100% accurate but then again we’re not trying to get it recognised as an Olympic sport or gain UCI involvement. To be honest a lot of people said that I was mad for posting on here and that all I would get was trolling desk jockeys finding fault. I guess they were right in hindsight but for those that are in support cheers. Obviously we would hope that anyone participating would be courteous to other trail users and shut gates etc. We all ride bikes a lot and would do this as a matter of course whether we were racing a computer or a mate down a hill but I suppose some people probably do need this pointed out to them. Anyway for those of you that “get it” hopefully we’ll see your names up there, for you other guys, well I guess this post wasn’t aimed at you so enjoy whatever reason you have for riding and try not to get too upset eh?

I have had a set of switch hubs on their own rims for nearly 2 years, apart from the freehub thing, which happens with Hope too, I’ve had no issues and I swapped the alloy freehub for a steel one which has been flawless and at £24 a lot cheaper than a Hope one. The other benefit I’ve found is that all the bearings are the same size rather than the 3 different sizes they use in Hope ones. Not bashing Hope in any way as I have a set of pro 2’s on Mavic rims too, just saying that on a budget I think the SS ones are great, I would buy them again. Regarding spoke tension my LBS checked them when I bought them and said that if anything they were a little tight.

I ride 1×9 with a 34 front and a 12-36 cassette. The cassette is exactly the same as a 11-36 10spd one but obviously without the smallest cog. If I’m spinning out downhill then I’m on a fire road and if I’m descending on a fireroad then I should have a word with myself and just go home. If I could coordinate shifter, mech and cassette all wearing out at the same time then I would go to 1×10 but until that happens I reckon it’s all working fine for me 🙂

let me know when you’re ready to do something mate, I’m in Preston 3 days a week so could maybe meet up if you fancy looking at it? There’s almost no chance that I will get my act together and do anything about selling it in the next month anyway! It’s a 2009 in a medium, the black and green one.
